2009 was worst years for used car sales 12 Mar 2010 (News)
Alternative fuel and hybrid-powered cars become more popular in 2009, helped by rising fuel prices. However, used cars aged between 0- and 3-years old also endured lower sales as the scrappage scheme encouraged more buyers to purchase a new car instead of a used one. -
SLKs Take a Dive at Auction Today 4 Oct 2004 (News)
Last week I mentioned that Audi TTs, Boxsters and old-shape SLKs were on the slide. Today confirmed it. A 35k mile 99S 230K auto stuck at £12,300, the 79k mile 98R in the photo, in a really nice metallic blue, hit the buffers at £10,900, while bids for a 49k mile 97P 230K ran out at just £10,400. -

BCA even opened an extra 100 public parking spaces at Blackbushe. As to be expected, 7 seater holiday cars were flavour of the week. A Moon-and-back mileage 94L Merc E320 7-seater estate made £4,875; a 33,000 mile 2001Y Galaxy TDI LX 7-seater sold for £12,150; and there was a right old battle to secure the 105,000 mile 99T Zafira 1.8 Elegance in the photo. -

1949 MG TC Sells for $490,000 18 Jan 2015 (News)
A 1949 MG TC has sold for for $490,000. Okay, it was Carrol Shelby's first race car, this was Barrett Jackson, Scotsdale Arizona, and as part of the Ron Pratte collection the money was going to charity. But us folks over in little old England are more used to a £20,000 - £30,000 price range for MG TCs. -
Young male drivers more likely to use their phones at the wheel 31 Jul 2014 (News)
A survey by Intelligent Car Leasing has revealed that younger drivers and male drivers use their phones at the wheel more often than older and female drivers. 1000 adults were asked if they had held their phones while driving in the last 30 days – 10 per cent of males and 4.5 per cent of females admitted that they had. -

Budget Spring Statement 2018: Road tax and MoT exemption for classic cars 13 Mar 2018 (News)
Today, road tax exemption for classic cars is done on a rolling basis for 40-year-old vehicles. So, for example, from 1 April, 2018, all vehicles built (not registered) before 1 January, 1978, will be eligible for free road tax. 1938 MG TA Police Car in Historics 12th March Auction 25 Feb 2016 (News)
CTF 921 was first registered in February 1938, to Lancaster Police. When its duties were done, it had a more sedentary life in the ownership of a Canadian who took such a shine to the car that he shipped it across the Atlantic when he returned to his homeland. A subsequent American owner treated the car to light restoration before the car returned to the UK and now graces the Historics sale on March 12 th . This 76-year old is resplendent in its black coachwork and red interior trim, and mechanically is said to be faultless. -
