Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - dealer has backed out of deal, after deposit taken 27 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi guys Can anyone help me out with my rights? I ordered a Hyundai i30 under scrappage on 0% finance. It was a very good deal. Too good, in fact, as the dealership has just called saying they are withdrawing from it. I paid £500 deposit, both they and I signed vehicle order form, etc. This is the first time I've bought a new car and don't know my rights - do these things happen? -

GM Post Huge Quarterly Loss of $15.5bn! 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
All mainly because the USA love of huge trucks is over and GM and Ford didn't see it coming?? I also see that it's finance arm (the bit that normally makes the profit) made a loss. Partly to the write down costs on the slow selling trucks and SUVs. Probably the guaranteed future value sort of thing. -
Insurance by instalments -read the small print 14 Jun 2008 (Forum)
This is approaching the rates for Mafia loan-sharking operations (and the small print also helpfully points out "you have no right to cancel this agreement under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 " ) A quick internet search found him a lower premium and an instalment scheme with a reasonable interest charge but I wonder how many people are innumerate enough to sign up for finance at 65.30%? Or does anyone know of a higher rate for any product? -
car supermarket insane prices!! 27 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I just bought a "very clean" two and a half year old Rover 25, with a few nice extras, for just over £3000 from a good local dealer. Great deal I thought. The same car age-wise, from a nearby supermarket (NOT a "leg-breaker" finance place) was six grand. Why are people so mad? These places look very nice and they give you a cup of coffee, and the sales staff have nice smiles, but... OK, I've heard that some places are cheap, but other places in the North are horrifically expensive. -
Replacement New Beetle + tdi 16v 3 Oct 2003 (Forum)
which makes sense since it would presumably cost VW ... Since I want to replace our 1.6 Beetle in 2005 (when finance is up), anyone know if VW are going to pop the new tdi 2.0 16v in - the current tdi isn't 2005 emissions spec ? Or the 105bhp 1.9 I suppose... And the 1.8T & V5 will have to make way for the turbo FSI petrol engines.... -

Audi A3 - Hire purchase, lease cheapest way?? 19 Feb 2018 (Forum)
But aware without a solid history for example at least 3 months payslips, I won't get a car loan or finance? Was thinking of other options like a lease arrangement or something. Of course the other option is spending the £1000 on the private market, but won't have the same options obviously. -
Ford Focus - Buying repossessed car with superficial damage 10 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Hi, I've seen a 2013 Ford Focus at a dealers, which is a finance repossession, and is at least a thousand pounds cheaper than equivalents around. The car drives fine, but there are quite a few small scratches on the paintwork and some loose panels inside the car (drivers side inside door, for example. -
Landrover Discovery 2 Diesel. - Selling Price 3 May 2014 (Forum)
Hi, Would appreciate any advice on this. Nearly cleared the finance on my Landrover Discovery and will probably sell it privately on autotrader. I have had the car for approx 15 months and odemeter is now reading 103k. There is no proof of servicing between 75k and 99K but before this it was all landrover servicing. -
Honda CRV EX Diesel - Honda CRV EX Diesel discount 8 Jun 2012 (Forum)
but any suggestions/guidance on what would be a good "negotiated" discount would be helpful.... BTW: Honda is offering 3 years free servicing and 0% APR finance; the question is how much more can a dealer be pushed... -
car buying goalposts moved? 19 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Remember many years ago, late sixties a mate of my Dad's changed his car ...spitfires..every two years. He merely renewed the finance and the payments remained the same. The economy changed and the payments went up and up so the system was abandoned. I've been tending to buy used car and change every 3 years or so and the hits been tolerable. -
5k to spend any suggestions 21 Aug 2007 (Forum)
We have a Saab 95 estate which I really like it is very comfortable and spacious but we are only getting 25mpg from it and the petrol cost is killing our finances. So we have decided to sell it and get something else. We have two small children so need something with a decent amount of space and something which will give us good fuel economy. The saab has lots of extras like AC, air con etc preferably I would like similar extras. -
Dispute insurance offer & gap 3 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I am considering GAP insurance for my replacement purchase, a Polo 1.9 SDI 05 plate (£7000). Best price so far (3 years) is £150 from www.click4gap.co.uk (Hitachi finance) [no connection]. Is GAP worthwhile? Are there better providers out there? Views / answers welcome Mark -
VW Golf GTTDI broken camshaft 10 Dec 2004 (Forum)
It was serviced about three weeks ago and about two weeks later a shuddering noise developed which transpired to be a broken camshaft. The dealer wanted to replace the engine but VW finance only agreed to fix the broken camshaft which is understandable given that there is such high mileage and that the contract expires in March! Would anyone advise me whether it would not be a good idea to buy this car when the contract comes up in March even if the price is good and can anyone suggest a good price to accept it at please! -
Subaru to go ? 9 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I need a similarly sized estate that delivers 40mpg, but will anything come close from a reliability and handling point of view ? I have just invested in 12 months tax, MOT and new tyres and will have to sell the Legacy to finance its replacement(circa 4k max) I can only think of a Primera as a suitably reliable replacement but do you BRs have any opinions for the sake of an extra 8/10mpg. -
Aircon - worth fixing on older car? 22 Dec 2003 (Forum)
But - when I come to trade in or sell, what if any difference would this make? Also - if I chose to hand the car back to the finance company (having paid more than half the HP) would they be likely to penalise me for this? Thanks -
Flat Rate 29 Mar 2003 (Forum)
About to do some serious negotiation on a car and would like to go in with a way of comparing the dealer's finance package to some of the other loan providers I have been looking at. Any help would be much appreciated. -
getting new V5 26 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I see one which is on sale tomorrow which is exactly what i want 1.6 Zetec 3dr, 51 reg 16k miles haven't seen it yet but if spotless i'd be happy to pay 7,300 plus auction fees Thing is it has no V5 document, nothing dodgy, it is being sold by reliable auction house on behalf of Ford Credit. I guess the owner has not teturned it to finance house, maybe it has been repossesed. If I bought it how long would it take to put on the road. No V5 , no road tax ;-( what is the procedure and how long does it take ? any shortcuts ?
