• BMW 3 Series - Cracked Alloys 28 Apr 2015 (Forum)
  Just been told one of my Alloys is cracked, BMW did a run out test (0.7mm) and no visual impact damage. Have been told as it is not the style (225) that had a problem with cracking they won't have anything to do with it. My wheels are the 19" 313 style and only done 24000 miles I am surprised by BMW's it's your problem not ours attitude.

  Driving home 11pm at the weekend I was followed for several miles by a BMW X5. For the first time in my life I started to understand the warnings on the news which state 'the following news report contains flash photography'. Every time the BMW hit even the slightest undulation in the road, the lights seemed to flash in my rearview.

  Hi, On the M4 today I accelerated fairly hard and my BMW 320d autobox kicked down. I glanced in the rear view mirror and the unfortunate BMW 7 series following me was buried in smoke from my exhaust. I did not notice any loss of power and as I eased up the smoke went away.

  Is it pointless using fully synt engine oil on a high mileage bmw 318 diesel? The car has 100k plus and runs well.....I changed it when I bought it with some duckhams semi(Just to be safe)......and car seems ok. Would castrol magnatec be ok? The bmw site is confusing giving all this long life palaver.

  Hi all, Opinions please, just turned 25 and looking around for my next car and narrowed it down to these two. Audi is the sensible car, plenty of miles and all very economicial around town too, BMW is the car that ive always wanted especially the Sports version, but i know even with the huge tank it isnt going to be as economical as the Audi locally. Which one would you choose, go with the heart (BMW) or head (Audi)?

  My '93 L reg BMW 518 has just been serviced by a local specialist who advised me that the down pipe leading into the catalytic convertor has split, is blowing slightly and therefore needs replacing. They are quoting £550 + Vat BMW or £350 + Vat 'pattern part' does anyone know if I can get this welded instead and if not what should I go for as I intend to keep the car another 5 years?

  Re the 2005 BMW Z4 2.0i. "The washer pumps routinely fail if the correct BMW washer fluid is not used. " That car is 12 years old. Does the comment about the washer fluid / pump failure cause and effect still hold true for BMWs manufactured during the last five years, or even 'today'?

  Is it possible to replace the Run-flat tyres as fitted on most BMW 5 series, with standard tyres, or are the wheel rims different in some way? And if so, does it improve the ride quality on 17in & 18 in wheels? Have any 5 Series owners any experience of this?

  BMW are quoting 29.1 mpg for this car on the urban cycle. That seems somewhat optimistic for a six cylinder 3 litre petrol engine. Anyone here ever obtained these figures ? Thanks

  i have a 7 series bmw 1998 R reg with inoperative speedo,milometer,abs/asc light illuminated and wipers only work on intermittent.we believe it to be speed sensor but which ones and where located,has anyone any info please.
