bmw 120d - BMW 120d '04 shorted out? - foxy406t

In a nutshell, while in the process of jump starting my 330i, I inadvertently touched the jump leads together while the leads were connected to my wifes 120d. It was connected in the boot direct to the battery.

The car cut out and now wont start, it just cranks over and some warning lights have appeared on the dash. Anyone got any ideas as to what the issue might be? I have tried my handheld diagnostics and it wont connect with the car..

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while and then reconnecting?

I did, but only for a minute or 2.

You may have blown one of the fusible links.Next to battery is a white plastic box.Carefully unclip the cover and check the strip fuses .You may need to use a test light or meter as I think they are the sealed type so a blown one is not easy to identify visibly.hth

thanks for that, I will have a look for this box today. Although I cant remember seeing it... is it hidden or in plain view?

Thanks very much, I checked the links and indeed one of the 100a ones has blown. You are a gentlemen and a scholar sir, I salute you!
