citroen xantia 1.9 td s reg - starting problem 23 Aug 2011 (Forum)
so I (maybe wrongly) ruled out both immobiliser and diesel pump problems, while driving home for a few minutes everything came back (dash lights, fans, speedometer rev counter) now its gone again and I don't want to drive the car around without fan as it might overheat without me noticing it (easily done without dash). -
Jeep Grand Cherokee (1999 - 2005) - 99 4.7 Brake binding problem, help!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I have recently have had no end of bother with the binding brake on both of front brakes. It seems ok once you start off everday but it gradually starts to get worse the further that you drive. After driving a couple of miles the caliper is red hot, and it's stuck on. The problem strated around a week ago with only passenger side brake and we've now had problems on both sides. The local garage said it MUST be brake servo problem and ask me to get it changed. -
Congestion 7 Jun 2011 (Forum)
That used to take me 45-50 minutes. So, to me, congestion is worse. I've got my suspicions about why - I did drive through several sets of roadworks and a big stretch of average speed cameras paced the traffic at the area where now it clogs up as people try to get onto another m'way. -

Peugeot 307 - DPF Removal 24 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I bought a Peugeot 307 HDi 2.0l a few months ago. Due to test driving in the snow we didnt notice that the car was down on power (wont make that mistake again!) Anyway I invested in a diagnostic and replaced the MAF and cleaned the DPF filter. However as I work in town and have a 40 min drive though town 2-3 times a week the DPF isnt getting much chance to regen and is slowing my car down again. -
Ford Transit Connect - Van only starts on easy start 14 Apr 2011 (Forum)
My dad has a ford transit connect which after having had various oil leaks caused by a bad engine change (FWI national engines dont use new gaskets) fixed, i took the van on a 10 mile drive to make sure everything was ok which it was but after a few times it has trouble starting and will now only start on easy start. When started, it runs and drives fine but it just will not start on its own. -
Nissan Almera - Accident - no witnesses 9 Mar 2011 (Forum)
My partner was driving our car the other day when she was hit by a van at low speed, over her side of the road, as she approached a junction. There were no witnesses. The accident has caused some damage to our car: scrapes and a dent to the front wing which has caused a gap between the wing and the bumper. -
Mini Cooper - Mini Cooper Remote Key. 17 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi, my key no longer opens the door via the remote, I now have to unlock the car manually. I assumed the key was not charging in the ignition because I only do short drives and a 20-30 mile long drive once a week. During Xmas, I had a dead car battery so changed it over. This hasn't rectified the problem. Mini have said it sounds as if I need a new key and it re-coding, however, will do a diagnostic test first. -

Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - TDCI 130 overcooling 4 Feb 2011 (Forum)
My tdci engine takes between 10 and 15 miles [from a cold start] to reach nornmal on the temp gauge if I drive at a steady 60mph but if I drive below 45mph the gauge never gets above quarter scale. The ford dealer has changed the thermostat and confirmed the temp gauge is indicating correctly i.e. the engine runs at only 65 degrees and the thermostat is only designed to start opening at 71 degrees. -

Renault Clio 1.2 1997 petrol - Engine misfires after replacing broken timing belt 6 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi, The timing belt broke on my clio while driving. The garage fitted new belt just to get the car running and to see if there is more damage to the engine. They charged me very little for this job but they don't do engine repairs. Car now runs but misfires at low revs/in low gears. -

Nissan Mrica automatic - High pitched whine in engine 15 Oct 2010 (Forum)
A mechanic seems to think it is a dry bearing either the water pump or the power steering, but having oiled and/or greased all the parts it hasn't made any difference. I find that when the car has been standing for a few days and I drive it it doesn't start for about 5 miles. If I use it every day it starts whining immediately I start the engine. While I'm driving I find that if I put my foot down (about half way) on the accelerator, the whine stops and starts again when I release pressure on the pedal. -

Police Camera Action 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Did anyone else watch this program Once again we have a program that is giving out the politically correct massage speeding kills. to illustrate the fact the program rolled out a number of clips from reckless criminals and the tragic story of a young girl left brain damaged by some rich irresponsible yob driving a powerful car, stupidly. It also had a demonstration that a car going faster takes longer to stop! Now that is news. It illustrates the stupidity of these that make our laws, surely 19 year olds, or these that just passed their test should not be allowed to drive fast cars on public roads The program claims 40% of road deaths are due to speeding, therefore 60% are not These programs should get across the dangers of tailgating, not indicating, not putting the headlights on in bad weather and so on and not just go on and on and on about the dangers of speed and then show irrelevant examples -
Diesel / Convertible / 4X4 what's out there 29 Jul 2010 (Forum)
She still wants a convertible (could be a soft top though), she wants a diesel this time around for better fuel economy, the car needs to be about the same size (an A5 would be too big), it needs to be automatic and finally (and this is where I'm stuck), it needs to be a quattro / 4 wheel drive. One other thing...she doesn't want a classic 4X4 shape / style if possible. There are various reasons for all her choices, some are style driven and some are a consequence of being stuck on her drive for a number of days last winter.
