Ford Mondeo TDDI 2.0l - £14 worth of petrol in deisel Mondeo - xdeity

Morning, can anyone help?

This morning i went to the garage, having been driving a petrol car for the last few weeks i just totally blanked out and started putting petrol in my TDDI mondeo, to the value of £14. I then realised and went into the garage, paid and asked for advice.

The garage advised me to top up totally with diesel, and then I should be ok (tank was almost empty of diesel at start). So I did as advised, pyt £45 of diesel in, then drive 8 miles to work, car seems fine but I've been advised that it could cause serious damage to the engine.

Based on the above, am I going to be alright, or am I gonna struggle and need to get it all drained out?

Thanks for any advice

Andy

Don't drive it, drain it all out, get system cleaned. New diesel filter. Is my advice and what I would do if my car. The garage are in my view wildly wrong.

But you may have damaged it already.

Don't know engine and what its susceptibility is.

I would add an approved diesel fuel additive to add lubrication.

Hello,if it is not the common rail diesel you might got away with it.

Just to follow up don't hammer the engine on the motorway or overload ,petrol got to dilute.

i've added an additive called diesel magic, i'm told that will help.

its still running after 18 miles, lets hope it stays that way

No - dont put 2-stroke in for gawd's sake!

Put about 1 litre of golden syrup in to thicken the petrol and lubricate the fuel pump otherwise you'll knacker the turbo flange.
