Rust Buckets 4 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I have had a number of cars that have rusted in my time but far and away the worst was a Fiat 128 Sport in the 70's - Great Fun Car but the body got more like swiss cheese every day ... It occurred to me that in these days of galvanised body shells and anti corrosion warranties perhaps the tin worm problem isn't as bad as it used to be. -
alfa romeo spider bigend part 2. 22 Jun 2002 (Forum)
Re June 6 02. Spider engine required-not just crank grind & bearings, but conrods too!! Main agent always used Synthetic oil at service &always carried out at correct milage Agent agreed that car had been driven & treated in correct way' "But when warranty runs out, there is no Comeback on manufacturer"?? I just can't understand that when you buy anew car-after 4 years & 41k miles it fails probably due to some inherant fault? -

Volvo V90 - Repairs on new (to me) car 23 Apr 2021 (Forum)
New unit required: £430 fitted. The seller is now refusing to pay for it, only offering to cover the £180 it would cost for a USED unit, fitted by them, a 2.5 hour drive each way. The warranty bought with the car doesn’t cover water ingress, of course. Additionally, when Volvo called the warranty company they only had a quote request, it took a further call to the dealer to get them to activate the policy, more than a fortnight after delivery of the car. -

I'll be interested to see if the dealer s going to stump up the cost of replacement under warranty. (Getting the car to them is going to be interesting) So f you've got metal dust caps on a car with tyre pressure monitors-TAKE THEM OFF NOW! -
Ford Kuga powershift problem - Faulty repair 20 Sep 2021 (Forum)
A neighbour had the car repaired at a specialist a few weeks ago, £700 less than a ford dealer quote, and as i drove to bring her home, I said get shut of after. They were given a 1 year warranty. It failed last week and was taken away on a breakdown truck. -
VW Up - Independent garages 15 Feb 2015 (Forum)
My VW Up is almost three years old, passed an MOT yesterday and the warranty in soon up. Are there any downsides to independent garages? I used a local one four years ago, he was very good. My concern is access to parts so the car could end up off the road for longer, or returning when parts arrive. -

So, does anyone out there in HJland personally (not talking about a friend of a cousin twice removed blah) have a car that has been chipped early in its life and has done over 100,000 miles without any grief? If so give us the gen, which company, how much, effect on insurance, warranty issues...blah, blah. Many thanks, Regards, Alf -

Mitsu Colt vs Toyota Yaris 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Misses and I have spent alot of time so far discounting cars that we were going to consider for when we change our old Rover which could be anywhere from the summer to the winter at this stage. We were leaning towards to Berlingo type cars but neither of us were keen on the cheapskate warranties they all come with, esp since the van versions have in explicably longer warranties for what is essentially the same car! -
Ford Focus Instrument Panel 26 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Until yesterday I had not used my Ford Focus 1.6 (2003) for 4 weeks. The car has been kept in a garage. Yesterday before starting the car, I noticed that the Fuel Guage & Temperature Guage read approximately 1/3 before turning on the ignition!. -

Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - Which vehicle fluids...? 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Not had to top it up yet in the 8 months she's owned it so checked the manual and the recommended fluid is Ford or Motorcraft Power Steering Fluid and Motorcraft SuperPlus Antifreeze... Where on earth can I get that from? Or are there alternatives that I can use with the above only being "recommended"? Obviously I want to be careful what I use to preserve the warranty on the car. Is my only option to go to a Ford garage and let them do it for ££££££££'s? -
Nissan Juke 2015 - Heads up for Nissan Juke owners 2 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Cant use ebay (none there anyway) or scrapyard due to warranty, but the problem is caused by either poor routing/alignment of pipes or the lack of a rubber spacer between the pipes costing pence. It's staggering that given age of the car, which I accept is about to be replaced by a new model, has such a fault. -
Is it a lemon - New Car faults :( 10 Dec 2004 (Forum)
(I think this is something to do with the sale of goods act?) So there that?s the note, I feel that the car is a lemon, but how do we go about getting the car sorted in terms of new motor or other means? As these faults are still happening within its 3 year warranty ? my father doesn?t want to fork out huge repair bills if it happening outside its warranty. -
VW MOT Con 29 Sep 2002 (Forum)
She explained we shouldn't take the car home as it was unsafe, and also because she would have to charge another £39.95 for a restest. As the dealer is 45mins away from home we called my girlfriends dad to collect us. I explained that the car was only 6 months into the VW Approved Used car warranty and as such they can pick up the repair bill (except of course for the exhaust bracket). -
