    He and two colleagues drove three Cadillacs to Brooklands, completed a set number of miles and then returned to the dealership. Once at the dealer, the three cars were completely stripped, all the parts shuffled and the cars rebuilt. They all ran perfectly, an achievement for which Cadillac became the first American manufacturer to win the Dewar Trophy.

    By the time the third generation Legend appeared, though, Honda’s relationship with Rover Group had come to an abrupt end, and despite outwardly similar appearances, the 1995-on Legend was a completely different car to its predecessor. Staggering depreciation and a lack of public awareness of the car, along with just the one engine choice, meant it was always something of a fringe option in the executive car market, but those who bought a Legend came away with a car that was handsome, quick and extremely refined, along with a surprisingly agile chassis.
  • Jaguar Heritage gallery to open at the Coventry Transport Museum 19 Jun 2013 (News)
    The gallery, which is set to open in July 2013, will be situated on the first floor of Coventry Transport Museum, and will be based on the theme ‘Jaguar – a History of Design and Technical Innovation’.  The exhibition will cover the period from the Swallow Sidecar Company of 1922 through to the present day, and will also include a look to the future. The 17 vehicles set to go on display have been chosen to illustrate some of the defining moments in Jaguar’s illustrious history and will be complemented by displays of archive images, specially designed historical display panels and digital information pods.  The vehicles will range from a 1928 Swallow Side-car to one of the latest concept cars from Jaguar Design and will include many iconic models from the intervening years including Mark V, Mark Vll, Mark 2 and XJ saloons as well as XK120, XK150, E-type, XJS and XK8 sports cars.

    Called Service Care, Mercedes says it's a way of spreading the cost of servicing either through a fixed monthly sum or a single one-off, up-front payment. The Service Care plan covers all manufacturer-recommended service items, such as spark plugs, filters and brake fluid. It can be used to spread the cost of maintenance over any period an owner wants and it's transferable with the car when the owner sells it.

    A 1992 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE 'High Wing’ could make up to £26,000 when it heads to auction. The Esprit, which is one of just two factory press cars, will go under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ sale on 18 June. As such, this is the very model that adorned the covers and inside pages of motoring when the car was launched 40 years ago. A right-hand drive manual example, finished in Calypso Red with leather interior, it has just over 59,000 miles on the clock.
