Crossroads priority 29 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Assume you wish to drive straight ahead at a crossroads while someone in the opposite road wants to turn right. Who has the priority? The point does not seem to be covered by the Highway Code. This happened to me this morning. Big, ugly-looking customer in a big, ugly-looking 4WD started blasting off (in a heavily built-up area) while I gave way to 3 cars turning left in front of me. -
Sticky clutch in reverse Rover 45 TD 22 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Is that the clutch master/slave cylinder? Going forward is not a problem and also going fast in reverse is fine. The car is still under warranty for 3 weeks and clutch (and all its parts ) are covered. Should I contact the provider (AA)? -
406 Coupe with swimming pool in footwell 17 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I've got a 2001 Y 406 coupe with a swimming pool in the passenger side footwell, The problem started last sunday, i noticed a few dribbles from under the glovebox Come monday it had turned into a torrent of water enough to form a puddle in the footwell. I've taken the car to the main dealer but they want to charge me £600, because they say there is a problem with the evaporator unit (or something like that ?), and the warranty company wont cover it because they say its "water ingress". -
Polo 1.4 16v tensioners 13 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I think this may have been touched on before. My wife has a Polo 1.4 16v X reg (39,000 miles), on Friday the car started making a noise from the under the engine cover at the left side of the engine. Managed to get it to a garage and they have said that the plastic pre-tensioner has broken. I know that this seems to be a known problem with this engine type but has anyone claimed any of the repair bill from VW as this seems to have happened before I would have expected (if at all!) -

How can you tell? 21 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I have been driving a C-max for a few days, I put it on my insurance so gave the ins co the reg and model details - C-Max Zetec 1.6 TDCi 110. When I received the temp cover note it stated C-Max Zetec 1.6 TDCi 90, the Ford dealer insisted it is a 110 and they should know, they ordered it and have it on the Ford system as a 110. However neither party was able to advise as to how one can physically check by looking at, in or under the car so how would a second hand buyer cope? -

Replacement bulbs 15 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Know this subject has been covered recently (though I can't find the thread), however worth highlighting a letter that is printed in this weeks Auto Express. Guy bought replacement Osrams for his Scenic to find out that, to fit them in his car, meant "serious dismantling of the engine bay, something that can only be carried out by the dealer for about £70". -
Another punto head gasket 3 Dec 2003 (Forum)

Corroded alloys 5 Sep 2003 (Forum)
The rest of the alloys look in good nick apart from the odd scrape. Is there any way this can be rectified as it spoils the appearance of the car, also the badge that covers the wheel nuts has gone funny too! -
Service Scam? 15 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I am just about to get my Vauxhall serviced just to maintain the warranty and breakdown cover for the year. I have had an itemised quote for the service and noticed that they wanted to use 9 units of oil at a total cost of £36. It didn't specify the units (litre or half-litre) but the car uses 4.5 litres to fill. -
Mondeo 97R Clutch Change 3 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Hi guys Looks like I need a new clutch on my Mondeo - its the 1796cc Verona 5 door with aircon. Luckily enough the clutch is covered under the warranty I took out when I got the car so I should be ok as regards costs. (Warranty specifically INCLUDES wear and tear to the entire clutch assembly). Anyway can someone please let me know whats involved? -
Damaged Mondeo door 8 May 2002 (Forum)
Hi My brothers car withstood what appears to be a sustained attack by some baseball cap wearing scumback, however there is now a louder windnoise at motorway speeds and there are signs that there was an attemp to lever the top of the drivers door. -
What's the best way to treat rusting brake callipe 21 Jul 2001 (Forum)
A question from me, the owner of a VR6 Highline, bought new in December 1996: I won a battle with the dealer and VW to have the brake callipers painted free of charge when they started rusting within six months of buying the car. They are now deteriorating again. Any advice on how to treat them for a truly durable result? I know it wouldn't/shouldn't matter with normal hub caps covering them, but the very open-style six-spoke alloys expose the callipers in all their gory glory. -
Volkswagen Passat - Consumer Advice Req - 2 Breakdowns in 10 weeks 31 Jan 2011 (Forum)
The car is very rough when idling, which is what it was doing before the no 2 injector failed. The car was returned to me last Monday, but I had a Ford S-Max on demo last week, so didn't drive my own car for 6 days. -
When should I change the gearbox oil in my car? 8 Jan 2025 (Ask HJ)
