Volvo 760 Turbo oil leak 10 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The old (1989) Volvo seems to be leaking some oil. Definitely an oil leak rather than burning as the evidence is on the drive. I have checked all the obvious things such as filter and sump. Dry as a bone. I have spent most of the afternoon with the car over a pit, just can't trace it. -

Senior Citizen Tearaways !!! 28 Aug 2006 (Forum)
It seems that it's not only the youngsters and company car drivers that most of us consider need to exercise rather more care when driving but now it seems in my small North Somerset town, Senior Citizens will have to be included in this category. One old chap anyway! -
Key problems on '00 BMW 7 Series 20 Aug 2006 (Forum)
My father in law has just been charged over a hundred pounds for a new key for his BMW. The problem was the gradual inability of the key to lock/unlock the car remotely, which to me pointed to a new battery. The dealer simply ordered him a new key. I managed to get the old one apart just before he left today, but the battery didn't want to come out easily before he had to go. -
Citroen Warranty Offer 15 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Citroen UK have an excellent warranty offer on until 18th August, called Citroen Advantage. Any Citroen up to three years old can have its warranty extended by 1 year for only £179. Normal cost £450. Seems like a no-brainer to me, so I have signed up for our C8. We had a mailing from a dealer (not our regular one) about it, who are also offering to pay double this premium back to us if we 'change' our car at their garage. -
Audi Climate Control ? 26 Apr 2006 (Forum)
If it needs re-gassing, where can I go to get a good and cheap job done - not too keen on main dealers prices. The car's 4 years old 1.9TDi Avant. Many thanks, Underbonnet. -

The car has covered about 120,000miles and recently its started to develope a droning noise over about 30 mph. Its not really loud, just noticibable but definately there. 1. I suspect its NSF wheel bearing - can anyone confirm the likelyhood? -
Audi A4 brake warning message 18 Feb 2006 (Forum)
When its been standing overnight or for several hours during the day my 4 month old A4 Tdi will flash the re brake warning (accompanied by 3 loud beeps) when started. The brake fluid level is fine and the brake fluid level sensor has been replaced to no effect. Theres no warning if the car has been driven recently, it only seems to be from cold. -
New Astra - noisy exhaust? 27 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I've just bought a 54 plate easytronic Astra club, which I'm pretty happy with (better than my old 05 Polo, that was a waste of money!)despite having part of the clutch replaced already! On the whole it's a pretty quiet drive, until I get onto rough road surfaces - every now and again I hear a very metallic sounding thud that seems to be coming from the back of the car somewhere, I've had the suspension checked and that is fine - could it be the exhaust? -
51 plate fiesta no heater 18 Jan 2006 (Forum)
my girlfreind has a new to us 51 plate fiesta, with the old style pushrod engine, the heater made a slight hint of warmth at first, so i suspected the stat was stuck open weve had a new stat fitted and now there no heat at all! even after a long run, the garage suggests its the matrix , would i wrong in thinking a 2001 car with service history shouldnt need a new matrix?? -
Fiat Stilo Multiwagon 5 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Ok, so I'm not big on Fiat - never have been, but my friend has offered me his 2003 1.6d Stilo Multiwagon, with 80k on the clock. It's a nice car, very spacious, practical, sat nav, CD, electics and all the toys. I'm going to take it but wondered how much it might actually be worth, as I'd like to offer him the value for it. Does anyone know of an online buyers guide that is free, or be able to estimate a price based on being 2.5 years old, and having done 80k miles? -
Brake Fade. 3 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Reading a nine year old copy of Autocar earlier this evening (in the bath!) and was intrigued by a comparison test between a standard Jaguar XK8 and a XKR SVO. The road-tester kept mentioning how the standard car suffererd terribly from brake fade whereas the XKR with it's larger Brembo brakes did not. -

Spilt Millers Diesel Extra 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Is there any point in me trying to clean this out / dry this off or should I just bin it and put an old carpet in? Is the smell ever going to go away? Anyone else been so stupid? I don't want to fill the car with air freshners all the time to cancel the smell, although maybe neutradol would do it? -
Jeep grand cherokee exhaust 20 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Hello Ive just bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.5 diesel and found it needs a new exhaust. Jeep now tell me that because the car is 5 years old( by a few months) the exhausts are unobtainable, and will not be remanufactured. When I asked them what they suggest I do I was told 1/ Go for an aftermarket unit, not much help as nobody does one for the diesel and 2/ Go to a scrapyard. -
VW Passat cv boot and front drop links 26 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Had a 80K full service done and a number of issues were identifed. The CV boot needs replacing and both front drop links. OK? The car is 6 years old, 80K, (runs great mind!)but when VW told me the parts and labour, I nearly fell off my oerch! £130+ for the CV boot and drop links £175+ (supplied and fitted in both instances) I'm not knowledgable under the bonnet, but there must be an alternative. -
Replacing the Glass in a Fiesta tailgate 8 May 2005 (Forum)
As the tailgate in my Fiesta Mk3 was rusted, I?ve bought a brand new tailgate (in primer) and fitted it to the car swapping, the lock, rear wiper and all the other bits with the exception of the glass which I have so far removed from the old tailgate but not yet fitted. Is this something that is easy to do? I? -
