Hyundai Getz 14 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Has any one tried a Hyundai Getz ? The base model car gets a good review in what car, and it now comes with 5 year warranty, 3 years three servicing and 3 years RAC cover, all for £6995, before haggle. Guess you could get a few hundred £'s off that. -
Used car warranty 4 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I have a fiesta which I bought from a dealer who is of reasonable size but independant. I am not sure if i got a 1 month or 3 month warranty! I have had the car just over 1 month and found out today from Ford main dealer that i need a new ABS sensor (Well done and thanks JamesH, HJ technical, 7/1/2003). The problem as only just recently occurred. Should this be covered by a warranty? -
SsangYong Korando - Decision made 8 Nov 2021 (Forum)
So, took the boss down to the Dealer this morning and showed her the cars. Was offered a pre-reg (pre reg late sept 2021) Ventura Manual in white, 6 speed, has front and rear parking sensors and reversing camera plus all the bells and whistles. The ELX base model that i was considering does not have the camera and sensors, or half leather heated seats and no parcel shelf cover, or upper floor boot cover.. -
Peugeot 308 - Road traffic accident involving damage to roadsign 15 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I've recently been involved in a road traffic collision with another vehicle which also involved damage to a roadsign. The insurance cover for the traffic collision is fine but i've just received a letter from the local council telling me that I have to pay for the damage to their roadsign. Am I covered under my car insurance for these damage payments or will I have to pay for the damaged roadsign out of my own pocket? -
Mercedes E320 Coupe - Insurance companies that will accpt snow tyres 16 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Direct Dial have refused to cover me when I have snow tyres on the car. They state that they should only be fitted when it snows!! How crazy is that?! Can anyone advise me of a sensible insurance company that will cover me in such circumstances? -
Volvo V70 SE 2002 - Air Conditioning Problem 24 Jan 2011 (Forum)
The dealer says that it may need to be 're-gassed' and I have booked it in for two days. Do these systems usually give problems? I have only owned the car for a few weeks and have yet to cover a 1000 miles. I hope that the Volvo warranty will cover whatever the problem may be. Does anyone have some thoughts on this or past experience please? Thanks ChiMan -
Mazda MX5 (1998-2005) - 99 1.8S Replacing rear brake discs and pads 3 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I'm thinking about replacing the above myself to save garage costs. I'd be happier working with the aid of a Workshop/Service manual but can't find one to cover this year of car. Has anyone carried out this work and on a scale of 1 to 10 how difficult is it? Also, does the 'Mazda MX-5/Miata 1.8: Enthusiast's Workshop Manual (up to 1998)' cover this work on this model/year? -
Insurance Query 18 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Recently both she and other colleagues at the store at which they work have been regularly asked to travel to other stores at distances up to 100 miles from home. The company is paying a small mileage rate to cover petrol but have implied that the journey can be done on normal "social domestic and pleasure" insurance. My employer insists on any employee doing a similar journey in a private car holding business insurance cover. -
To Inspect or not to inspect 29 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I'm going to look at a car from a Vauxhall dealer tomorrow. The car will be covered by Network Q, and has had 114 point check. Should I still pay out to have it inspected. -
Insurance quotes 2 Sep 2020 (Forum)
Today I received and email inviting me to get a car insurance quote from a well-known company. Having just taken out a policy with this same company at the end of June, out of curiosity I filled in all the details and submiitted the enquiry. For exactly the same car, drivers, cover etc for which they charged £497 8 weeks ago the quote was £359, a difference of £138 or 28% less. -
Toyota Auris - "Worn" sump plug 23 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I suspect that it has either been cross-threaded or over-tightened and that the garage is covering up for its own negligence. What do people think about this? Should I insist the dealer cover the cost of fixing it? -
Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 54 2.0 Pressure Sensor?? 7 Sep 2013 (Forum)
The car is covered by an RAC warranty but the likelyhood is its not covered (then agin, what is?) If the sensor is fairly easy to change to sort out the problem I think he's capapble of changing it himself. -
Broken fuel flap - repaired with a bodge 27 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Filling up the Rio last night and caught the edge of the fuel flap cover whilst hanging up the diesel pump, off it pings across the forecourt, other drivers looking on and obviously impressed with my car's build quality, me slightly embarassed picks it up and calmly slings it in the boot. -
Renault Laguna (1994 - 2001) - 1996, 2.0 16v - not starting/no turnover 28 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Anyway, couple of questions: My 96 Laguna wouldn't start this evening, no tick over, nothing. The battery seems fine, all lights work, and it wouldn't jump start from a colleague's car. So does anyone have an idea of what has suddenly stopped working? Second question, i don't have current breakdown cover - so has anyone bought cover (Tesco seem cheapest) the night before, then phoned them up the next day to get someone out to fix their car? -
Insurance to drive an import home 7 Aug 2001 (Forum)
My next Audi is ready for collection in Germany, but unlike just six months ago, my insurers (Eagle Star) have said that they cannot cover me on the VIN number until the car reaches the UK. As soon as it's registered, it can obviously go straight back through the tunnel and be covered, same car, same driver etc. I rang round a few insurers and was told it was a "new" DVLA ruling. -
peugeot and citroen - DPF issues 3 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I've been reading various horror stories about dpf issues. I had never even heard of dpf until a few months ago. For years now I have had diesel cars becauseI need a decent size practical car for the family and to keep my income tax down on my company cars. I cover maybe 7000 miles per annum and the vast majority is covered around town normally short journeys. -
Dog in car 25 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Our six month old puppy gets terrible motion sickness in the car. Anybody got any hints? She travels in the rear of a Passat estate in a cage covered by a sheet. She drools uncontrollably and looks very wobbly and unhappy. -
Renault Clio - Poor MPG 28 Jul 2024 (Forum)
TBH We don't cover many miles a week and the car is only used for travelling to work which is a 12 mile round trip and we are lucky to cover 5000 miles a year, So the Engine doesn't really get time to get warmed up but after 7 years of owning the car, We have never really had many issues but i would like to increase the MPG. -
Toyota Verso - Insurance Trap useless windscreen cover 5 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Windscreen broke but Admiral will only realistically use Autoglass. Complete disaster, after nearly 3 weeks turned up with windscreen for a left hand drive car (fixings for autowiper etc in wrong place) and informed that once they get the correct part the cars VIN plate will be covered by windscreen surround! Surely if their supplier can't supply within a reasonable time then the option should be available to get work done elsewhere at a cost that is not punitive to the policy holder. -
Audi A3 TDI - Audi long-life service intervals 15 Aug 2010 (Forum)
My 2002 A3 1.9 TDI was last serviced by Audi in Oct 2009, at which point it had covered 121,000 miles. It had a long-life service and I wasn't expecting to be back in the garage for another service until I'd racked up somewhere around 20,000 miles. It's now covered 133,000 miles and the car's service indicator is telling me it requires a service in 1,600 miles.
