• 2006 volvo s40 - passenger door 24 Apr 2024 (Forum)
  my volvo s40 has red warning light on dash saying PASSENGER DOOR OPEN when the door is shut. Button pops back up when car tries to auto lock as i pull away. the doors will shut when key is out of ignition The passenger mirror does not function either, no heat, no movement and no indicator.

  Read this in the current HJ column; "I am leasing a Volvo V40 for a 3-year period from Volvo. (It's a straight lease; no option to purchase). Am I obliged to have the car main dealer serviced, or can I use a local garage using genuine Volvo parts?"

  My wife wants me to buy her a new Volvo C70. Is there anyone out there who has had problems with the folding roof mechanism? Please don't try to tell me I should buy a VW EOS or similar as I can get 20% off the C70 through my previous employer.

  Recently bought used V70 for £1,000. Very pleased with it, but remote control key fob has just given up the ghost. Volvo main dealer quoted £250+ for a replacement, but I don't really want to pay one-quarter the value of my car just for a key fob. Any ideas how I might get one cheaper (legally!)?

  I am experiencing heavy interior condensation to my Volvo 940 Estate now that winter has arrived. It occurs if the vehicle has not been driven for a few days and at its extreme, water gathers on the inside of the glass sunroof panel and drips on myself and my passengers.

  Hi folks, my Volvo central locking has been a bit iffy on occasions but now neither of the neaarside doors will unlock and I can't use that side of the car. In the past such faults have fixed themselves and I have then been able to clean the terminals.

  This orange light just came on, car is running fine can detect no engine uneveness. Any one any thoughts on how to correct it apart from spending a fortune at Volvo agent? My local mechanic sugested an additivie to the petrol to try and clean the injectors, will of course try this and see what happens thanks JohnB

  Mumsie has a Volvo V50 T5 AWD fitted with Bridgestone Turanzas which have been on the car for about 2 years and have covered 10,000 miles max. They are wearing well and evenly but are definitely "part worn". Today, one of these tyres failed in operation and got shredded.

  is it possible to turn off the dip beam lights that automatically turn on when the car starts.I beleive that volvo dealers can do it by resetting part of the cars ecu,however they are likely to charge £40 plus . Is their a DIY option.The function seems to irritate other drivers who often flash thier headlights.Tony

  My first post, so hello. Cruise control on my Volvo S80 suddenly won't work. There's no cruise light so I doubt it's the brake pedal switch or anything that switches it off while in operation. I'd like to check fuse, relay, etc but I've no circuit diagram.

  hi, my volvo s60 information display goes wrong after a few minutes, you get funny characters or none at all. Switch off the ignition leave for a few minutes and its fine. Anybody know the cause (s/w or temp related H/W??)

  Just had to exchange my wife's faithful old Volvo 480 due to MOT failure (£800 needed in this and that and the clutch is going etc after 148,000 miles.) Swore I'd never get a new car but in the end a deal on a new Polo was so good inc 3 years warranty and servicing we went for it.

  The question is how many gears does the autobox have? Who makes the autobox? How reliable is the autobox? Volvo service schedule requires ATF change every 50k. As the car will have near 100k on the clock, can it be reasonable to expect another 100k on its original box? Many thanks, Gazza

  Hi I've got a volvo S80 which is FWD. Recently there has been a low howling sound coming from the front right wheel( sounds a bit like the wind whistling past except an octave lower) which gets loud the faster the car goes.

  help!!!!!!! my volvo 440 2.0 si (m plate) runs lovley and is very fast but has an intermittent stutter that cuts engine performance by at least 40% , there is no reason to it, one min its fine the next it judders and underperforms. the strange thing is if you nearly red line every gear it doesnt seem to happen, but due to 9 speeders on my licence already i cant drive like that!!!!

  Father in law has a Volvo S70 2.0 (think its a 10v). has 93,000 miles - 98/S Plate. Dark Blue, aircon etc. Great condition. He's had it up for £4000 but cant sell it for love nor money. What will he have to do to sell it, without completely losing the plot money wise?

  Just put my Volvo 850 through an MOT and it passed with flying colours (hurray!) Unfortunately, the Lambda light is now lit (it wasn't before). I have informed my usual garage about the problem (they sub-contracted the MOT) and they said that they will look into it.

  my 1993 Volvo 960 automatic (140000miles ) has been hitherto trouble free.Now it has started to jrrk when stopped in traffic ( like a sudden power surge ) and, worse, the engine can suddenly cut out when cruising.
