  Have fitted new ignition key wiring loome & ECU relay. Problem still remains. Have no power to ignition coil and fuel pump fuse in engine compartment. thanks

  I am vaguely familiar with how the urban and extra urban tests are carried out, but does anyone know if the conditions (temperature, windspeed etc) are specified? The fuel consumption of my Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Di-D is very dependent on the ambient temperature (worse when cold) - it makes me wonder whether the "official figures" are done under optimum conditions - warm day, no wind, well loosened engine etc

  Focus TDCI 1.8 turbo diesel(2003) Car not near as powerfull as it used to be and putting out a lot of black smoke even at low revs, car quite sore on fuel. Have checked the K and N air filter and it is clean car burning a small amount of engine oil but very little! car has sometime very noisy starting usually when warm!

  I have often considered installing a diesel storage tank at home considering the possibilty of less, (or no fuel) available, the more the middle east countries keep beating each other up, which of course will never end. Two points come to mind. 1. What is the quality of diesel likely to be in this situation and would there be a preferred source?

  Hi all, Just wondering whether any one could recommend a good auto electrician in the Hove / Brighton area? Need one for some Polish friends who have a Renault Scenic with dual fuel, a full tank of gas, but the sensor does not allow for the gas tank to be used. They have been told (in Poland) that it needs to have an update into the software and so I'm looking for someone who could do this for them.

  I seem to remember Top Gear 'featured' an irritating device that fitted inside the fuel cap of diesel cars and emitted an audible warning when you went to refuel. Joking aside, was this a genuine device and if so anyone know where they can be bought? We have recently had three of our company car drivers misfuel cars with the corresponding onconvenience and expense of putting this right.

  It had a service about a month ago, so the plugs are OK, and I changed the HT leads the other day as they were arking (Defo thought this was the problem) Any thoughts.............. I've also put in a bottle of STP fuel/injector cleaner

  I wish to surprise a friend by buying him a newish car, perhaps 12-18 months old. It must be a modern TDI, 4/5dr, offer very good relaibility and fuel economy and if serviced regularly capable of 300k miles. Do you guys have any suggestions. My own suggestion would be Skoda Octavia TDI or a Toyota Avensis TDCI but VW relibaility is suspect whereas Toyota is very good.

  Is it worth spending 20 quid on the fully synthetic oil like Mobil 1 and so on? They promise improved fuel economy and quieter running. Worth spending the extra or just going for Halfords cheapest diesel oil?

  We've done the sums and it appears that it'll take quite a few years to recoup the difference as regards fuel consumption goes (15,000 miles p.a) Anyone have any experience of either of these engines, or the car? Many thanks.

  Hi , i wonder if you could help me ? On my way home from work today the radio and the digital read out for the speedo and fuel guage etc stopped working on the instrument panel .checked the fuse and this is ok. The car is a 1997 espace diesel. Have you come across this problem Thanks {Shouting, ie, upper case text amended.

  Hi, I have a 1998 vectra 2.0 diesel. Recently, I've had a problem starting . The top of the fuel filterhousing has electrit circuit inside or control unit? and I wonder if someone can explaine me how to test this unit.   i have a renault espace 2.1 td 1994 and ever since i got it it has had an odd miss or hic on tickover.ive tried the usual stuff-fuel and air filter changed the oil, flushed with redex. could it be the glow plugs? as it seems worse when cold.at other revs it is fine and runs smoothly even at the 99 thousand miles it has on the clock...

  The central locking rod mechanism which locks the fuel flap (this is not a bi pressure pump)has leaked air, disabling the central locking feature on the car. I have resealed the mechanism, but the system does not work. Can somebody please advise me how to get this system working again.

  Following the "Transit van economy/specs" thread. I am thinking of buying a Transit-sized (medium high roof) van. Economy in terms of fuel consumption/spares'n'repairs is important, as is reliability. I know little of vans. Any ideas/pointers to suitable vehicles, or "things to think about", will be very welcome! I think that if I can fit in a few 8'x4' sheets of stuff, that will be great (however, I'm not a builder/in business).
