Ford Transit - Help with independent dealer 21 Dec 2013 (Forum)
The battery was dead (they said the battery wasn't good enough for the van) so they charged it and carried out engine bay electrical testing. They identified low power supply to fuel pump (9.4-9.5 volts) resulting in loss of diesel injection. They carried out main engine bay fuse box testing - introducing independent power supply to main relay and identified volt drop (3.5 volts) between main relay and fuel pump relay. -
from a big v6 to a small diesel - HELP! 7 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Im looking to downsize to something that will be kinder to my pocket. There are some bargains out there and I looked at larger diesel saloons and all kinds of things and while a Mondeo sized diesel would save me money, to make it worthwhile changing my car I should go for something more economical, something that will do 50+ mpg. -
Peugeot 207 (2006 - ) - 207 Diesel - a 7 day hire experience 19 May 2009 (Forum)
Not as good as my long term average on the 1.6HDi Picasso. Verdict. I would not buy the baby diesel version, but would be prepared to give a more powerful version a try on an extended test drive if I was in the market for that type of car. p -

Mazda 6, what to watch out for? 13 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I am thinking about replacing the Passat sometime this year and am considering trying to source a three or four year old Mazda6 with a diesel engine. I've more or less eliminated my other choices - Avensis D4D (slower, more expensive and won't drive as well as the Mazda) and Accord CDTi (not that good for fuel economy, more cramped interior than I expected, pricey again). -

Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 68 road test . . . 28 Oct 2006 (Forum)
The engine was not exactly powerful (68 bhp, 0-60 in about 15 seconds), but it didn't feel underpowered to me. OK - the acceleration was not spectacular, and if I were getting a diesel Clio, I'd get the 86 bhp, but for my purposes, it had enough power. I guess the fact that the power comes lower down the rev range and the extra torque of the diesel engine makes up for the lack of total power. -

Ford Focus - Advice on buying a second hand car 7 Sep 2022 (Forum)
This car was used as a family car for general driving around as well as for long journeys, and I was very pleased with it due to its reliability and fuel efficiency. As I am now in the position of needing to purchase another car, and as someone who is not particularly knowledgeable about cars in general , I would very much appreciate any advice or comments in relation to the following: Are there any particular models of cars that you would recommend that are cheap, safe and fuel efficienct? -

What to buy 19 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I don't mind paying for a good extra 2 year warranty (this is a car I'll expect to keep for 3 years, maybe more) Fuel choice isn't important. I am leaning towards a Fabia or Octavia diesel, but a petrol car would be fine if it returns over 50mpg with my gentle driving. Depreciation is a factor of course. My 306 cost £5k, it's worth almost nothing now but I've had it for 5 years. £1k/year is perfectly acceptable but I'm not interested in a £10k car that's going to lose £6k in 3 years and 60,000 more miles. -
Volkswagen Sharan - Buying used car - sufficient power? 16 Aug 2024 (Forum)
One we've seen, and most seem similar, says it's 148bhp, 185.00 lbs/ft engine torque and 34 mpg combined fuel consumption. As you can probably tell, I'm a bit at sea so any advice would be appreciated! thanks -
Volkswagen Golf - Loss of power and engine shake missing? 29 Jun 2023 (Forum)
I never imagined that was the fault until I found it, since it shook so bad I was certain something had broken! Could the current VW diesel problem be missing, then further affecting runnng because of the incorrect fuel in the exhaust etc confusing the computer??? Or EGR .... OR???? Could the low oil affect something with knock on effects? -
Ineos Grenadier 8 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Starting from £40,000, but I think these are going to be seriously overbuilt in the best way possible. 3.5 tonne towing capacity and 1 tonne payload capacity, whilst the roof can take 150kg. Power numbers, not finalised: Petrol 283bhp and 332lb ft of torque Diesel 250bhp and 369lb ft of torque Limited top speed 100mph. No idea of fuel economy.. -
Electric Car (EV) Interior Heaters 1 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Or does the heater work of petrol or diesel? Or am I missing something? I realise that these are unusual and infrequent events, but if you are caught in a situation like this then it is a very real issue. Some reports were that 1000 vehicles were stuck. -

Vauxhall corsa D - Won,t run above 1000 revs 18 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Can anybody help. My wife’s Vauxhall corsa D (1300 diesel - 09 plate) will not rev above 1000 revs. When started it kicks out a lot of smoke and idles just below 1000 revs. Putting your foot on the throttle makes no difference. The engine will not rev up.at all. -
vauxhaull vivaro 2005 - vivaro, problems with revving and running 8 Dec 2017 (Forum)
it splutters and misfires then stops at 2400 revs and blows grey smoke out the exhaust...a lot of it. it seems to be over fueling as it smells of diesel. every now and then it will clear the 2400 but it doesn't rev clean at all. its been on a computer and had a few faults, but we think these were from disconnecting sensors to see if it made any difference. it does go into limp mode after a couple of minutes.
