  • 1.2 VW Polo - Hire Car Misfuelling Incident 27 May 2013 (Forum)
Eventually I found a garage on an industrial area that had card payment so it could be used 24 hours. There were 3 pumps at this garage, one marked 'Diesel', one 'Gasoleo' and the other 'LPG'. Knowing that the hire car ran on unleaded, I stupidly assumed that if one pump said diesel and one LPG, then the Gasoleo pump must be unleaded. The pump nozzle fitted into the tank okay (I thought diesel nozzles were larger?)
  • Opel Omega 2.0 8v - Engine Performance Problem 13 Dec 2020 (Forum)
He checked while ignition is on, but not running the engine, and there is not a problem about MAF sensor. Just knocking and o2 fault codes due LPG system on my car, he says.  The thing i want to ask is, what should i change? I can replace MAF sensor, but original Bosch one is really expensive (price is almost 2 times of my monthly income).

Manufacturer: Vauxhall. Model: Astra. Type: Estate. Fuel: Dual fuel - LPG/Petrol. Trim: Elegance. Engine: 1600cc. Registered: 2003. Mileage: 50k. • MPG wanted for 4-6k. 29 Jun 2002 (Forum)
I've also have looked at Rover 200/400 diesels with less mileage. Also considered an ex fleet dual fuel(LPG) Vauxhall but dont know enough about oncosts of servicing/problems etc. No where seems to talk about them. Again opinions please. So there you have it - I need recommendations for a 23 year old with full no claims to spend 4-6k on a highly economical larger motorway crusier to keep for 2-3 years 60000 miles.
  • Vauxhall Astra H Sporthatch (2005 - ) - 2006 1.6 Engine Cutting out 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hopefully someone can help me. I recently bought a Astra Sportshatch 1.6 Sxi with LPG conversion, ever since buying the vehicle I have been having two problems which are as follows. 1) The car starts fine from cold but in the first 5 - 10 minutes of driving it when breaking and coming to a complete stop at a junction, when applying the clutch the engine cuts out.
  • Rover - P6 3500 / 3500S 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I wonder about using an SD1 Vitesse engine with the EFI, but I'm not sure. Help! I'm not going down the LPG route, by the way.
  • Vectra cut out / stall at speed. 3 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Turned the engine off, 5 minutes later started her back up and almost immediately the engine light came on, and it cut out. When running on petrol it idles poorly. Idle control valve possibly blocked? When running on LPG it runs smoothly. I called out the RAC and half hour later when chap arrived restarted the engine, and no engine light, he checked the engine etc and tried to replicate fault - nothing! I persuaded him to plug up his fault reader, and it did read faults: injectors 1-4 voltage high (?)
  • TOYOTA CAMRY 2.4 VVTI PETROL YR 2002 - Poor starting of Toyota Camry 2.4 VVTI (Year 2002) 30 Jul 2018 (Forum)
You Sometime ago the valves were checked - but they were fine with regards to the tolerances. Fuel economy fine. I would say it runs on LPG, but it has a problem starting on the petrol which is the main concern.   I used https://www.justanswer.com to get to this stage, but haing never used them I think giving out payments for general advice isn't something I am keen to do.
  • Skoda Octavia vRS - Help me decide which car to get next year. 16 Feb 2017 (Forum)
It is after all a 16 year old car. My current car is a Skoda Octavia VRS converted to run on LPG. So I'm looking for something similar, I do roughly 10,000 miles a year and do quite a few short journeys so I would guess this rules out diesels? Although I had a 110bhp Golf diesel and never really ran into any issues with that.
  • Volkswagen Touran II (2010 - ) - I'm buying a Touran! 11 Aug 2008 (Forum)
When I showed the local dealer salesman the on-line price he almost choked! I've already mentioned on another (old) thread that I'm selling my 2001 520 LPG, for info. I've also had a look at the clubtouran forum but I guess they all love theirs thanks everyone valmiki
  • BMW X3 - Family Car 2 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Better fuel efficiency would be nice as the C Class is a bit of a gas guzzler. We would definitely consider converting to LPG also so a larger boot to accomodate this would be good I assume. We like the look of Yeti, X3, A4 estate, 3 series touring to give you an idea. Basically, is there anything we are overlooking in this area and which would you go for of the few mentioned?
  • Dilemma of dilemmas of dilemmas 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
And then I found the the thread about Ethan Edwards's Nissan Note 1.6 petrol that he'd had converted to LPG by a reputedly-reputable firm. Seems as though if you can get a decent installation, there aren't too many drawbacks, and if the LPG system goes wrong, unlike a complex diesel going bang, you can usually just revert to petrol operation until it gets fixed.
  • Bulgarian Motoring Observations 2 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Very hilly, windy roads and sometimes you will come up against a lorry filled with logs, pulling a trailer filled with logs, struggling to do 5 mph up these hills and the same down due to lack of brakes! Meanwhile every one is overtaking on blind bends....... Fuel is about 2 lev a litre, approx 90p. LPG is available for approx 40p a litre.
  • MPV SUV - Cheapest car and insurance for "less abled" 8 Apr 2016 (Forum)
So it seems my only option is to buy a car here, ideally something high like an SUV or MPV, I do not have the money for a new car and so I guess it will be eBay or local paper.  I do not want diesel but not adverse to LPG, Electric or Hybrid if they exist.  I say that because I have hardly any money, so it is going to be an old second hand car. I am really talking low end here I doubt I can raise £1k. Can anyone recommend a model of car, that is high up,  that despite being reliable has tanked in value and is cheap to insure?
  • BMW 528 Tourer - Dealer sold car with Speedo not working nd many ot 25 May 2013 (Forum)
The problem actually started at the dealership, in that on paying for he car, I was told that I must have lost the keys, but was convinced that these were given to the dealer as he used them to open the spare wheel area as I wanted to look at the LPG system that the car had. 90 minutes later, after I and another member of staff had searched the car, the yard etc, the dealer was still trying to get me to come back tomorrow, but I was arranging for a locksmith to attend, at which point he then managed to find the keys and bring the car to me.
  • Volvo XC90 (2002 - ) - 2003 2.9L Transmission problems 25 Mar 2009 (Forum)
My 2003 XC90 T6 started behaving strangely about 6 months ago (shortly after converting it to use LPG), and I received a Transmission Service Urgent warning message a few times. The car drove perfectly well with no further errors until about 2 months ago - when I noticed the transmission felt like it was slipping (no increase in road speed when the engine speed was increasing, and then finally the transmission engaging and the car would shoot off).
  • any - Older cars, values, classics, useable? 7 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Many of my fortunately rare model have been 'barried' or other wise interfered bodily with, many more neglected and driven excessive miles, those surviving would cost far more than £5k (peanuts when you start dismantling a MB) to get back into the far from contours condition of mine. Course it's all academic cos i don't intend to sell it and if i did the LPG conversion (unless removed) would knock it's classic value, and there's every possibility my son will keep it going if it's still here when i kick the bucket.   I don't think there's real money to be made in older or classic cars unless you've got Mystic Meg's crytal ball, and buy the right ones at the right time when a fashion fad takes hold, examples being early RWD Escorts and VW campers.
  • DIY Transport Policy 4 Nov 2002 (Forum)
They don't need speeding up, especially as they spend half their time stationary at bus stops anyway. 3. Use tax incentives to persuade bus operators to switch to LPG or biodiesel. Other public transport: 1. Encourage tram and light rail initiatives where they make commercial sense. Make it as easy as possible for private operators to build and operate these systems.
