  A 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 sold for £75,900 at auction over the weekend. The fast ford went under the hammer at the Classic Car Auctions sale at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Saturday, 3 December. The Cosworth was offered on the open market for the first time since 1988, and had covered just 12,000 miles from the new.

  Anglia Car Auctions’ Classic 22 June car auction was topped by a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda that sold for £81,900, despite not having seen daylight in over 30 years. It was one of 106 cars offered, for a total of £791,000 and a 70% sale rate.

  Car buyers are being urged to be on their guard after a study of used vehicles for sale found that more than half had some form of hidden history. A sample of RAC vehicle history checks covering more than 32,000 separate used cars for sale in the UK flagged up 52 per cent with a multitude of issues.

  Lister Jaguars are classics you almost never see, so it’s extremely unusual that, like the number 47 bus, three should turn up at once. Sadly, they are a prized three-car collection from a deceased estate. The Darth Vadar-like 1994 Lister Storm in the main photo is one of only three road-going Lister Storms thought to exist. When built, the 7-litre V12 Jaguar-powered Storm was the fastest road-going car in the world, at 211mph, and was ticketed at an eye-watering £220,000.

  A low-mileage 1996 Aston Martin DB7 could make up to £55,000 when it goes under the hammer at Historics in March. The 20-year-old car has covered 3300 miles and will be auctioned on Saturday, 12 March, at Brooklands. Launched at the 1994 Geneva motor show, the DB7 is widely considered to be the car that saved Aston Martin.
