  • Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - New i10 or used Jazz? 12 May 2009 (Forum)
She can have a new Picanto Red for £6,600...with scrappage allowance. Having driven both of above,I rather prefer the Picanto personally. She could also have a used Jazz CVT,1 owner,26,000mls,FHSH,05 reg for £6,400. Should this be a no brainer in favour of the new car, with warranty etc,or would the Jazz with its obvious build quality and perhaps durability(?) differences be an overall better buy?
  • Nissan Tino 2.2 DCI 2004 17 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I have a 2004 Nissan Tino 2.2 DCI which is covered by a Nissan warranty. It has done 25K miles and until now has been trouble free.I start the car after a week of non use and after driving 2 miles it loses power with a max speed of 35mph. This happens intermittantly for two days then I get a EMU warning saying there is a problem.
  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - How to make an engine last: advice sought. 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi Fiesta 1.6 diesel, 2 years old. Had it from new, and is a fantastic car. I would like to see it last 200k+ miles. I don't know whether to: a) Increase oil changes to 6k using Ford (or equiv) 5w-30 semi b) Use fully synth oil for 12k service. c) Carry on with 5W-30 semi at 12k d) None of the above I'm playing it 'by the book' till the warranty expires.
  • Used car leasing 2 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have been asked by someone to help sort a 'new' car. The guy concerned has seen this website (Motordepot Supermarket): http://www.motordepot.co.uk/ They offer 'Flexidrive' personal leasing on USED cars. He's much attracted to this and has asked my opinion as to whether it is a good idea or not.

  • Ford CMAX 1.6 Diesel temp loss Power 26 Feb 2007 (Forum)
My local main dealer, I still have three months left on the warranty, has had no experience of this problem. And they're only solution is to drive the car to them if it happens again! I of course would like it fixing before the warranty expires. Do you have any ideas?
  • jaguar xtype - can i ask for money back 8 Dec 2015 (Forum)
jaguar x type owned since september 1st. on starting this morning there is a knocking sound which goes away when clutch depressed and comes back when clutch released, can someone tell me what this is. the car was purchased from a dealer and within 2 days the car was going into limp mode it went back to the dealer who apparently fixed it with a part of another jaguar returned after 3 days. the car was fine for roughly 7 weeks when it went into limp mode again at the same time starter was found to be faulty the dealer took the car back and replaced the turbo under warranty but charged us for the starter motor and labour they had the car for 4 weeks as they said there was a problem getting turbo fixed on warranty. eventually came back last wednesday all was fine (although hardly driven until yesterday) until this morning at 6.30 when the new noise occured. so 2 questions dod you think it's the clutch and does anybody have any idea where i stand legally ie can i ask for refund as since september 1st the car has been off the road for 33 days out of 98, no loan car offered also the car when we did have it was not used on a daily basis has my son sometimes has access to works van. any help greatly appreciated and sorry for long winded post.

I have noticed quite a few, but not all, second hand dealers here in Bristol have started adding £99 to the price of a car. What is this all about?...
  • Do any of you lease your car? 9 May 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, After a long struggle with an unreliable passat, I have now decided to lease a car to help reduce unexpected bills. I need a 30,000 miles a year lease over two years so that I am covered by the manufacturers warranty. I have looked at several lease companies and understand the format for leasing a car, but was hoping I could get some real life leasing experiences from the back room.
  • Peugeot 307 - Warrantywise won't pay 6 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Just had gearbox failure after 13000 miles from new. Warrantywise will not pay. I did everything they asked, bought a used car, guaranteed genuine 13000 miles, broke down 300 miles later and had a full service as requested by warranty wise and thye will not pay due to smell in the oil !!! of the gearbox. How can I as a consumer  know about this ?
  • Ford Focus Zetec - ECU failure not covered by warranty 21 Mar 2018 (Forum)
My son lease-purchased the above vehicle new on July 10th 2014. Over the next 3 years the car was perfectly maintained and serviced according to the Ford service book recommendations. On June 28th 2017, 13 days prior to the warranty expiration date of July 11th, the car broke down in Swindon and it was transported to our home in Hindhead by the AA.
  • mercedes full marks 6 May 2007 (Forum)
I posted a while ago about a small rust problem around the rear wheel arches on on my '2000 C220. Well Mercedes have returned the car with a top class job done on the problem having given me a car to use while mine was away and all done under warranty. It is refreshing in this day and age for companies to give such service. Only downside is I have no excuse to offer SWMBO as to why I need to go out and buy an SLK............

Have had a good quote for Import of BMW Compact and pay in sterling with 3 year warranty but they want balance 2 weeks before delivery and it is payable direct to them (as is deposit but I can use credit card cheque and receive protection for this).

  • MG HS 1.5 Turbo Petrol - Wrong engine oil used during service. 15 Jan 2025 (Forum)
I apologise in advance as this may seem a very simple question to most. I've just had my 2 year old MG HS car serviced at an MG dealership and on looking at the garage's invoice notice that the engine oil they used is 5/30W. The handbook states that the oil should have been 0W/20. I was surprised that an oil of a different specification was used by a main dealer and am concerned that it may adversely affect the car.
  • Advice on reliable car for under 8k 21 Aug 2012 (Forum)
My last requirement is that I use the car for surfing and wouldn’t really like to go any smaller than the 306. My budget can be up to £8k. I am currently looking at manufacturer used approved diesels because I like the idea of a warranty if I am going to part with that much cash.
  • BMW 325Ci E46 - Used car with faults - what are my legal rights? 17 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Hi there, I've just bought a used BMW from a used car dealer. It was sold with a 3 month warranty, and a 160 point 'check' which seems to cover very little, except major failures. I've found 2 faults: 1. The tracking is out on the front, so the drivers side tyre is bald on the inner shoulder, almost down to the steel, its needs replacing, as it could blow if left to wear down more.
  • Jaguar S-Type - Jaguar S Type R Engine failure at 29,000 miles 31 Jul 2010 (Forum)
In March 2009, I purchased a Jaguar Approved Used Car from Guy Salmon, Jaguar main dealer in Northampton. The car, a 4.2 S Type R, first registered in March 2004, had done 17,000 miles at purchase and has now covered just 29,000 miles. The car has been fully serviced by Jaguar main dealers throughout its life and was last serviced 2000 miles ago.
