Grand Monday: Peugeot 405 19 Sep 2016 (News)
A retro car that is old enough and rare enough to get a bit of attention, yet at the same time modern and practical enough to not offer too much of a compromise on the daily commute. Plus, the infamous Peugeot XUD engine is as tough as old nails – it’ll run on vegetable oil if you want it to (or so they say), and is renowned for going on and on and on, especially with no turbo to go wrong… With 149k on the clock, then, this one’s barely run in. -

A Grand Monday: Rover 200 BRM, £875 25 Apr 2016 (News)
This example is about as inexpensive as they get in presentable up-and-running condition, and with a 12-month MoT it’s quite a beguiling prospect for fans of both Rovers and 1990s hot hatches. It looks straight and tidy, and has clearly had some work done in the past two years as a look through the online MoT history shows that it has previously failed the test for corroded rear arches (a common Rover 200 grot spot). -

Report: Peking to Paris, day 22 18 Jun 2013 (News)
Mike Reeves in the growling Ford V8 pulled five seconds off the Chrysler of Bruce Washington, who is holding second overall, but the leading Vintageant, the Chevy Fangio Coupe of Phil Garret was ten seconds better than the Ford, despite fluffing and coughing on the straights with the odd back-fire, suggesting perhaps that the Chevy is running a rich petrol-mixture. A total of 55 cars tackled the Time Trial today – the others kept to the tarmac and skipped the run across the farm, keener on car preservation. One surprise as we watched cars storm across this vast grassland… the unmistakable sound of the chugging Model T Ford of Nicky Bailey, who proudly gave it a go, knowing it would be setting the slowest time of the day. -

Erenhot to Altanshiree Day three saw the teams face a tough 300km run into Mongolia. The vast, remote country would do its usual and pose all manner of navigational challenges. Crews are set off at minute intervals. No regularity this, it’s the real thing – cover the distance, as best you can, until you find the finish of the first of today's two Time Trials, it's more than 40km and takes the teams well beyond the horizon, with tracks spearing off left and right. -
