Obscuring Number Plates 19 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I saw a car parked in Central London yesterday with its rear number plate covered up and its front number plate right up against the wall of a building. The car was parked on a pavement type area. I have also seen mopeds parked with their rear number plates covered (often on pavements). -
Speed Hump Damage - Can you claim? 15 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Sure enough about four feet after the hump was a manhole cover protruding about a half inch or so from the surface of the road just in the right place to meet the sump on its way down after passing over the hump. About a yard after the manhole cover started her trail of oil. -

There were also signs on the cover where some one has struggled to refit it. Q1 Do you have to remove the rocker cover to replace the oil seals? Also, whilst servicing the car the mechanic said he found oil in the turbo. -

Any - Breakdown cover again - excess discounts 15 Mar 2022 (Forum)
This hardly inspires confidence. I then used a comparison site. On that Start rescue offer an option for both cars , with a £30 excess, for £47. I don’t see this on their own site so I guess it’s a special for the comparison sites. I will rerun for personal cover but so far it looks as if they will get our business. -
Car Hire Advice 23 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Am thinking of hiring a car for a couple of weeks on a touring holiday, and was wondering if it is best to arrange your own insurance or use the in-house cover offered by the major hire companies. -
MR2 - Storing 7 Nov 2019 (Forum)
I have a MR2 Mk3 which I have just taken off the road for the winter and wondered if anyone has advice for storing it. Last year I bought it a cover, a rain proof breathable one. When I checked under the cover during a cold spell it was frozen to the car. I am now looking for another, yet reluctant to spend a lot on one as I can build a car port for a couple of hundred pounds. -
Volvo XC90 - Non regulated Business Hire Contract Termination 11 Jan 2019 (Forum)
I wish to reject the car, but I understand that I won't be covered by consumer law, or finance as it's an unregulated hire agreement. I understand that I am covered by contract law, but the lease contract has exemptions regarding the guaranteeing the quality of the car. -
Etiquette for test driving 2nd hand cars 15 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Hi All, I went to look at a 3.0 Z4 - 2nd hand. The guy wouldn't let me test drive it as my insurance is 3rd party cover only - he said if I made a deposite he'd add me to his cover for a day. I can see where he's coming from as it's a fast car, but is this normal? And as I'm about to sell my 4 year old Golf GTI is this the norm when people come to see it? -

Cambelt woes. Renault Espace 3.0 24v 24 Jul 2004 (Forum)
So I could be looking at a bill for 50% of the car\'s value. But here\'s the thing - the first registered owner of the car was... the manufacturer. They had it for 8 months/ 6k miles. What\'s my best angle to get the manufacturer or dealer to cover some or all the cost? -

Zetec burning oil, any quick fix? 16 Jul 2011 (Forum)
My 98 escort is using a very large amount of oil, a litre every 200 miles or so. I have no intention of having the engine rebuilt or replaced, as I intend to get rid of the car next year. Would a thicker oil help at all, or would that cause the valves to stick? as I've heard that happens on certain zetec engines, this is a 1.6 with a bare metal cam cover (I've seen some of them have a black cover, but I have no idea if this is relavant.) -
Ford Galaxy Integral child seats... 30 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone advise at all how to take these apart further than the velcro and zip fittings that hold the washable cover on. Our daughter was sick all over hers today and it went way down beyone the cover and we can not access to clean properly. The manual for the car has nothing in it to help. We ideally want to get the harness straps off totally to wash and then be able to clean in the area of the foam that we can see down there somewhere! -
Rover Workshop Manual Problem 19 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I have a Rover 416 Sli auto, and need to get hold of a workshop manual for it, however the Haynes manual for this model covers the whole range except for my model, which is the only one which uses the Honda engine and auto box. There is a Haynes manual for the Honda Civic equivalent of my car, which in all but the name seems identical, so would this manual alone be Ok, or should I get this one, and a Rover one to cover bodywork etc.
