JD Power survey 2007 results 19 May 2007 (Forum)
NA=225557&EL=3196982 {please do not post direct links to 'What Car' , ie, leave off the http part of the link - DD} A lot of the results are fairly predictable (Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Skoda at the top), but there are some unexpected ones. A few that jump out at me: 1) The most satisfying (or should that be 'satisfactory'?) Ford is the Fusion. 2) Merc A-Class beats every single Subaru. 3) In the manufactuer's league table, Jaguar beats Audi, BMW, Mercedes, & Volvo . . . -
Electric cars: new threat 16 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I was told yesterday by a friend who has a pacemaker that someone was about to give him a lift in what he called an 'electric car' (my guess would be Prius or Lexus hybrid, as I can't imagine anyone offering anyone a lift in a GWhiz) when they thought of checking the instruction book (a substantial document, my friend said, laughing) to see whether these vehicles are contra-indicated for pacemaker wearers (or Robocops as we prefer to be known). -

Audi A4 Avant - £5k Petrol Estate 9 Feb 2021 (Forum)
For that kind of money my options seem to be cars from about 2005 to 2010 with about 80-125k miles, things like Audi A4, Volvo V50/70, VW Passat, Ford Mondeo, Subaru Legacy. Also maybe Lexus IS250 if I'm happy with saloon. I'm looking for some thoughts on the relative reliability of cars of that age/mileage and any ones to either short list or avoid. Thanks in advance, Rhys. -
a Newer car. Used. Your suggestions 30 Jan 2021 (Forum)
My very old diesel Volkswagen Lupo is completely unusable. And now I want a more comfortable car and a bigger one. I was thinking about a Lexus ct200h or Toyota Prius, but from the review I understud that a hybrid is more of a city car. And I live outside the city, I do not stand in traffic jams, I live in the suburbs, but I often drive on dirt roads and there are also intercity trips, the driving style is not hasty. -
Which cars have 'quickclear' windscreens? 6 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Did I read somewhere that it's available on the Skoda Superb? (The s/hand cars I'm considering are the aforementioned Superb, Hondas Accord and Legend, Lexus LS400, Toyotas Avensis and Camry, Mitsubishis Galant and newish Colt diesel auto, Nissan QX, Renault Vel Satis and an M-B W124 or the later W210 E220 CDI. Not exactly a shortlist . . . yet.) Thank you. -
mazda6 2002-07 where have they gone? 10 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I used to see these everywhere, the model with the lexus style lights. They seem to have disappeared from the roads. The car that Clarkson commented 'was one of the best driving cars in it's class'. I know that there were problems with the diesels, but I'd have expected petrol versions to be long lasting. -

Still searching - Nice motor for around £1500 8 Jan 2011 (Forum)
They must be reliable While trawling autotrader and various car websites I have so far come down to three cars Alfa Romeo 156 ( yes I know some say reliability is a problem but I know many owners who say otherwise ) Lexus IS 200 SE ( leather, heated seats, supposedly bomb proof ) Mercedes 250 TD ( very well thought of and my local garage says suprisingly cheap to fix ) Any thoughts from people Thanks -
Merits of dealer service history 3 Sep 2006 (Forum)
If I had it serviced next time by a local chap (or even the local Toyota dealer), would this dramatically affect the resale value? I need to weigh up having it serviced by Lexus versus any loss of value having it looked after by someone else. All thoughts welcome! All the best CV -
Product placement in films 24 Jan 2006 (Forum)
IIRC Ford also supplied 4x4's for Jurassic Park. Then of course there are the 'concepts' produced by Audi for I,Robot; and Lexus in Minority Report. Is this outlay by the manufacturers really worth it? It must cost mllions, but how do they quantify a return on their investment? -- let me be the last to let you down.... -
Anyone for a big gold slug? 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Ruinous fuel consumption, gold paintwork, and plenty of expensive stuff to go wrong and keep me awake at night. Any thoughts? Fun idea, or a big gold Lexus in waiting? Would you give more than a grand for it?? I'm open to being talked in or out of it... -
New Panda? It'll only cost you 8 seconds 20 Dec 2004 (Forum)
s security was the easiest to overcome and resisted for just eight seconds. Just four cars passed the break-in tests ? the BMW 525i SE, Lexus RX300 SE-L, Peugeot 407 SE and the BMW X3 SE. www.whatcar.com/News_Article.asp?NA_ID=212739 {Link is deliberately non-clickable. Rear-ended, need witness 21 Aug 2003 (Forum)
However, he is bigger than me and quite aggressive so I did not argue) It was a black, blackened windows car, with an unreadable plate. It could be EDZ113 or BDZ113 or EDZ1B or BDZ1B. It could be a Toyota or Lexus but I am not sure. If anyone can make out what car and plate it should be, or witness the accident, please contact me. I have contacted the Police, insurance company and my solicitor but without a plate, it is difficult to file an investigation. -
Lexus RX400h - RX400h owner's review for gordonbennet 20 Jun 2019 (Forum)
I bought a 2006 Lexus RX400h four years ago, despite being and old git I was stupid enough to land myself with a young child and couldn’t spend four weekends a year maintaining my beloved P38 Range Rover, nor risk it breaking down – not that it ever did. -
Any good ones - Small SUV/Crossover auto transmission? 2 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Hello All, Currently i have a VW polo & want to sell it to get a small crossover/suv. Was thinking of Toyota chr, vw t cross, lexus ux, volvo xc40 (although abit big), mazda cx30, nissan qashkai. Which boringly Cheap and Older Q car can one get? 18 Mar 2019 (Forum)
The reason why I ask is because I use the car only for a few months every year and it tends to sit in the garage for the remainder of the time. I had a Lexus LS430 which was prohibitively expensive to repair and with the last fault as a result had to get rid of it. Don’t mind large engines and in fact prefer large petrol engines and insurance costs are not a problem however a reasonable reliability would be an advantage (this tends to leave out Audi and BMW) So it looks like there are only a few Hondas and Toyotas left.
