Still searching - Nice motor for around £1500 - Smallzoo

I dont do a lot of mileage as I work from home ( under 5k ) but I would like a 4/5 seater car that looks quite professional, not too dated and a bit unusual.

They must be reliable

While trawling autotrader and various car websites I have so far come down to three cars

Alfa Romeo 156 ( yes I know some say reliability is a problem but I know many owners who say otherwise )

Lexus IS 200 SE ( leather, heated seats, supposedly bomb proof )

Mercedes 250 TD ( very well thought of and my local garage says suprisingly cheap to fix )

Any thoughts from people Thanks

Diificult this one on a small budget.Whichever car you pick I would go for history maybe a private buy if you are lucky.A friend of ours has a older type Mercedes i have to check but i think its the 250 TD he has being well pleased with his car he is retired and does about your mileage. His is the Estate automatic he wont sell the car its worth about your price range maybe less.Keep looking and i hope you find the car you want.

I agree. On this budget rather than focusing on what type of car you want I'd be looking at the condition, and in particular looking for cars with low milage and a full service history etc etc.

How about 1998-2003 Honda Accord? They don't look bad and you could get an Executive spec within your budget. They're as reliable as cars can be!

I second the Honda Accord. I have a 2001 SE Executive. All the toys you could wish for and everything still works as new. Very reliable and looks good in saloon form.

Avoid one with an 'auto' box as they're prone to failing at the mileage you'll be looking at.
