  • Cancelling Breakdown cover after write off ? 31 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I have been with particular breakdown provider for a few years now. My car was recently written off :(. Despite being without a car now, they told me this morning that I still have to continue paying my monthly direct debits to them ( my policy ends in October 2010) I can understand them wanting to continue receiving payments from me if it was the case of switching breakdown providers but surely if a car is written off, how on earth can they think this is correct?

  • European Breakdown Insurance 30 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Good evening. If you have breakdown insurance that includes provision of a hire car, would that normally be a near match to your existing vehicle, or is it possible that you'd find yourself trying to cram the contents of a fully loaded Ford Galaxy into a 1.2 Corsa?

My sister has just broken down on the M25 and she isn\'t a member of any breakdown organisation. What can she do? Does she leave the car and get someone to pick her up or should she let the police know and how does she get her car recovered? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

  • Breakdown Cover Renewal 10 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Just received the Renewal Notice from a well known Insurance Co for Breakdown cover on 2 cars (Recovery plus inc Homestart) - Incl 3 years No Call Out Discount of 15% = £115.50 premium. I have been with them for 20+ years - always with 1 car as often the newer car was covered under New Car Warranty - I have only broken down once in all that time.
  • Nissan Note - Breakdown cover for older car 6 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Our Nissan Note is now 15 years old and the breakdown cover provider we currently use (Eversure) does not provide cover for cars older than this. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a company that would cover a car of this age? We do have another car which is just 5 years old so a policy which covers both cars would be ideal or maybe one providing personal cover.
  • Breakdown cover for travelling abroad 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I am travelling to France (and possibly into Spain for a day) for the family holiday this year. Anyone any recommendations on good breakdown cover policies? My Altea is covered by Seat Assistance but this seems to be a case of if you breakdown we will tow you to Seat garage. No replacement cars, onward travel etc. Have previously used AA 5 star but not sure what the best deals are.

In the car-by-car breakdown HJ adds RECOMMENDED in relation to the Mondeo and the V70. HJ then goes on to list a raft of faults and problems for each car. In view of these faults I can\'t see why these cars are recommended over (say) a Jap equivalent.
