Shell V Power and the Mazda Skyactiv X engine 17 Jan 2020 (Forum)
On a North American forum somebody posted this comment: Shell V Power is high octane fuel, the equivalent of 93 octane in the US [this is the same as 98 RON in UK]. High octane would not work well in the SA-X. While conventional engines have sensors to prevent pre-ignition, the SA-X actually uses the principles of pre-ignition to function. -

Mk2 Mondeo estate, 1.8 Endura.de TD - Shell V-Power vs Fuelsave re MOT emmissions test 18 Feb 2013 (Forum)
I rang up the technical dept of the Shell customer care 0800 line twice and both times they told me that V-Power and Fuelsave produce exactly the same (low) levels of emmissions. I strongly got the feeling that they didn't know what they were talking about. -

Shell V-Power diesel: how does it sound to you? 3 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Last Saturday I inadvertently gave my Volvo its first tankful of V-Power diesel. (My local station has only recently started selling it, and the first I knew was when I rolled up next to a pump offering only that variety.) Anyway, it's an extra 6p a litre, or about £3.30 for a 55-litre fill-up. -
Shell V- power diesel 19 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I've read that this new derv cleans the carbon in the engine, but does the fact that its " gas to liquid" technology with zero sulphur make it less lubricating,... -

'Standby' power drain 15 Aug 2006 (Forum)
TVM's comment here http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=44019&m=485206&v=e got me thinking - I wonder how much power a modern car that to all intents and purposes is 'off' is actually drawing from the battery? -
Mazda 323 (1998 - 2003) - BP Ultimate & Shell V-Power 6 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I know this has been discussed here few times but I just wanted to share my own experiences with both. In my 323 2.0 TD I've been filling it up with Shell V-Power for past 4/5 months. Almost 3 weeks ago, I filled it up with BP Ultimate and I noticed after driving it for a bit that car was a bit more responsive. What surprised me the most was that with the same amount of diesel and same sorts of journies I got 60 miles more. -

Any - E10 petrol - from September 25 Apr 2021 (Forum)
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/e10-petrol-explained Government words "During summer 2021, the standard (or ‘Premium’) petrol grade in the UK will become E10" E10 is lower octane than E5 Unleaded. Our household has two auto petrol Honda's, one from 2008 (FR-V 1.8) and one from 2003 (Element 2.4 import). Both have been faultless running on a mixture of E5 and V-Power (more V-Power than E5 generally). The Gov website advises that both cars will accept E10 without issue, which will be cheaper to buy, So why am I not interested in changing fuels on two cars which have been totally reliable for years on end.
