  • Ford Focus (2003) - Wheel Bearings on Focus 17 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I've had my car for close to six months now, during which time I've had to replace one wheel bearing (bought the car second hand, and this was covered by the garage I bought it from) on the driver side, and had a curious issue with the electrics - but now the passenger side wheel is beginning to make an all too familiar noise when driving, so, before I get this bearing replaced as well - I wondered if Focus' are well known for needing new wheel bearings so often?
  • Used Hyundai i30 - what are the risks? 7 Sep 2010 (Forum)
We're considering a used i30 diesel auto which has done around 32k miles in its 12 month life. Assuming a full service history (which I'll check!), the car should have nearly 4 years manufacturer's warranty remaining. 1. If the car has been used for load-lugging, for example, could there be any downsides or risks, which we would not be covered for under the remaining warranty?
  • 2002 focus 1.6 zetec - ford focus burning smell 9 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Can anyone assist with an occasional problem with my 2002 1.6 Focus zetec. The car has covered 125000 and usually runs perfectly but just lately the steering wheel sometimes wobbles at 50mph plus and after stopping there is a strange almost burning smell around the car. This cannot be smelt from inside.
  • No FM/AM by 2012 19 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Sorry if this has been covered today... I've just heard on 5Live that both FM and AM radio are to be switched off by 2012 and everyone will need some kind of DAB receiver to listen to the radio. Now I don't know how many new cars are being produced with DAB in them or as an option but I suspect that there will still be plenty of 3+ year old cars knocking around by then relying on good old FM/AM.
  • Skoda Octavia II (2004 - ) - In car security - safes, boxes? 23 Mar 2008 (Forum)
In about a month's time they are going to drive (leisurely) to their villa in Bulgaria where they will stay till Oct and come back. Their route has been dictated by what countries their insurance will cover them for! Anyway, I suggested that they should maybe consider buying an in-car "safe" for keeping documents, valuables in as they are in effect going to take 4 weeks to travel there. Anyone bought such a thing?
  • Spotted a bargain from a dealer! 17 Feb 2008 (Forum)
or perhaps the car doesn't fit in with the sort of car they sell and they want to get rid of it quick? Then again if it seems to good to be true....
  • Change 1 Shock Absorber or 2? 19 May 2005 (Forum)
It was not right from the moment they changed it. Ended up getting a 4 wheel alignment done as they recommended, which was all done at my expense. Car now drives as you would expect on decent flat roads, but on rough ground or over man hole covers you feel the car twitch. I think this has something to do with my front nearside tyre wearing excessively more than the rest of my tyres.

  • Minimum 2 year new car warranty? 18 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I read somewhere on the What Car? web site about about manufacturers giving models a 24 month unlimited mileage warranty - something about a new European standard/directive.... Anybody know anything about this? When does it take effect?
  • Insurance Laws 27 Sep 2001 (Forum)
My girlfriend is getting her new car sooner than expected leaving not much time to flog the old one - about 3 days in fact. She will need to be insured on the new one leaving the old one uninsured. It's taxed and MOTd. I have 'driving other cars' third party cover in my insurance.
  • Broken timing chain on BMW with N57 engine 24 Oct 2015 (Ask HJ)

  • Golf 1.6tdi se DSG - VW warranty 29 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I bought the car as a one year old car and the car has a standard 3 year new car warrnaty.  The loose trim i think is due to a poor dealer repair carried out under the first owner where the infotainment was repaired and probably necessiated removal of said trim.
  • Ford Focus Estate - Turbo Boost Underpressure 30 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Hi i have a 06 plate ford focus diesel estate 1.6TDCI, the turbo is working but when you get upto 2500 to 3000 revs the turbo seams to stop working and the car goes in to limp mode, i have put the car on a scanner and that shows up a fault code that states "boost low pressure/ underpressure, when its in limp mode and turn off the engine for a few minuites, then restart it it runs fine again untill you reach 2500 to 3000 revs and it starts again. the car has covered 156000 miles an has been a good car untill now.

  • Dealer charges - is this right? 14 Mar 2007 (Forum)

  • Pre registered cars - 90 day rule 12 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Firstly, we run the risk of having paid for something that we may not own for 1 month and secondly insurers will not explicitly cover a car for which we are not the registered keeper. Has anyone else come across this and if so any ideas??
