Moving Abroad - Gap in Insurance - India Bound

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - had a go on the search facility, but didn't immediately find anything.

I am heading abroad with work for about three years. I am unlikely to drive while I am over there, as a driver is provided. Before heading off, I plan to sell my car and cancel my car insurance. However, when I get back, I shall want to buy a car and start driving again. Anecdotally, I have heard that gaps in car insurance coverage can be problematic. Is there anything I can do to avoid problems when I seek to take up car insurance again in three years?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Yup. I had a two year driving gap and lost my NCD-even when I went back to the same insurer. If you drive an old car you could try to find somewhere to park it and just keep insuring it? Can't think of anything else.

Talk to your insurance company and not just the kid on the phone-it may be better to communicate by post.
