Mid Life Crisis Car 14 May 2021 (Forum)
(The only car that I won't consider, and which comes up on an autotrader search, is a Smart Fourtwo). I'm just looking for something that I can enjoy driving occasionally - before driving for enjoyment is outlawed as not being green. All suggestions gratefully received - especially personal recommendations. -
SUV or estate 2 Oct 2020 (Forum)
Hello all, I am currently going round in circles trying to choose my next car. I currently drive a 66 plate Volvo v40 which I love, but the boot space is just too small for our ever growing puppy (vizsla), also the MPG is not great either. My budget is £11,000, the car will mostly be used for commuting to my office during the week (20miles) and weekend drives (50-100 miles) for dog walks in the Scottish countryside. -

Honda Jazz - Rattling noise from rear tyre when brake 18 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Dear all, I parked my car Honda Jazz model 2010 outside of my house before I was away for a vacation for 1 week plus. There had been some rainy days while the car was parked outside. Today when I drive my car for the 1st time after my vacation, there is a weird rattling noise from the rear tyre side when I brake the car. The noise is more obvious when I drive the car down the hill. What problem could it be? -

Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi LX, year 2001 - Peugeot 206 speedo problems 12 Oct 2019 (Forum)
When I turn the ignition on, the needle on the speedo goes from the 'at rest' position to the zero mark, sugesting the display part is OK. I got and fitted a new sender part that connect to the drive, and checked the drive gearing is ok, not damaged, etc. However that didn't cure the problem. Does that mean the whole instrument panel needs replaced, or a wiring problem in-between? -

Been checking my probably-relevant Daihatsu manual collection and they all seem to agree that there are two greases for the driveshaft joints. Yellow... -
Citroen C4 (2011) - Internal ventilation fan not working 7 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Having been sat on the drive for 2 weeks over Christmas, my wife went to drive her C4 only to discover that it seems to have developed a fault with the internal ventilation fan. None of the settings on fan speed produce any air. -
Happy Christmas everyone 25 Dec 2018 (Forum)
Send the Triumph to the skies: Let's all drive TFSIs. DSG can go to hell - Jesus drove Em-manual. Now let others sweeter sing... I'm content with my four rings. Someone can do better than this: let's hear you. -
Smart motorways, variable speed cams 1 May 2018 (Forum)
Hey, I rarely drive on the motorway and have the following question as it worries me. As I drive along a m/way, as I approach variable speed signs, lets say I was doing 70mph in a 70 zone and close to the cams the cams switch on, or change from a higher speed limit to a lower one. -
Any - Humps and cushions, best way to drive over 16 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Just had my SLK tracked and it was way out due I suspect to bumps and cushions. Wife's 2008 Volvo V70 had exactly the same problem, humps etc would... -
Skoda superb - Skoda superb eco mode gender bias 27 Nov 2017 (Forum)
It keeps giving my wife a higher 'eco score percentage' when we have driven on the same routes. This is clearly a fault as my driving is much better than hers. It seems the harder I try the worse my score. I am still able to offer advice to my wife regarding how she drives but feel she and the car are working together to undermine my confidence. -

Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI - Intermittent power loss above 2k RPM 12 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Hi all, I've suddenly noticed that when driving above 2k RPM, my car expereinces intermittent power loss. When keeping the accelerator level, the car jerks about, as the power drops and rises. This power drop/increase gets worse as I drive faster. -
Ford Fiesta (MK6) - Losing power and power steering 26 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Couple times now I've had the power steering give out, ABS, handbrake, speedo all flickering on and off. Battery is a bit low at 11.5v. When driving at the minute there's a sort of whining/squealing sound which you only hear at idle with revs or when driving. The mechanic who gave it a 30 second over said it's the alternator but before dropping £150+ on a new one I'm wondering if there's anything else. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 98 1.6 Flickering Lights 20 Oct 2016 (Forum)
The problem seems to be worse when the car is first started and on the early part of any journey. I'm still trying to figure out if there is anything that happens while driving that makes this worse i.e. accelerating, braking, cornering etc. The lights never go out they only flicker. The drive belt on the alternator is tight enough and the battery seems to be ok. The car was off the road and unused for a few months before I got it and the previous owner had not experienced this problem. -
Mercedes E 320 - Loss of power - Reset with auto gearlever 13 Oct 2016 (Forum)
The car has suffered a gear selection problem in the past but this was fixed by the Main dealer by changing a component in the gearbox. Please can you help as I love the car but this problem is driving me to getting rid of it. -
Ford Mondeo Estate 1.8L Petrol '03 plate - Strange Noises.... 22 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Hi All I have noticed recently that when driving at low speeds, I can hear a "whup whup" sound (which goes in tandem with the speed of the car, but diappears when the car goes over 30-35mph, and the sound is almost like a dry metal rubbing sound).
