Skoda Yeti 4x4 140/Skoda Octavia 1.6 Estate - General 1 Aug 2014 (Forum)
It has more than enough power, is very quiet and smooth particularly with the 7 speed DSG box and the money saved over the 2.0 is sufficient to go for Elegance trim which gives satnav, bluetooth and a decent DAB radio plus automatic wipers and headlights. Added to which it is beautifully built and frankly I prefer mine to a new Audi A4 Estate which we also have at work. The cost saving vv the Audi is of course is a no brainer. -
vauxhall zafira 2.0 petrol - car is costing us 30 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Weh ave this car mentioned above and its a 2006, it started giving us problem approximately a year after we bought it from arnold clark though its a used one, the problem started with the wheel shaking when my partner drives it at any speed, and then there is this sliding or thunder lighteing coming up on the dashboard, radio keeps going on and off could be for a day or for a few hours, fan is fluctuating as well, its on and off for some few minutes, we don't seem to understand what the problem is and the amount of fuel it consumes is extrememly high in a week we fuel up to £100.00 which i feel its too much, we have been to arnold clark and at that time we were charges for over £750 for the thunder light coming up in the dashboard but this tends to still be there. -
Renault Scenic - scenic temp gauge fault bad earth possibly 3 Feb 2013 (Forum)
My 1.9dci 2002 scenic has developed a temp gauge fault when driving the temp gauge can climb right up past the red but car engine temp is actually normal. if I Turn the lights on from side lights up to fullbeam the temp gauge gets higher and higher the more I turn things on like radio or heater and as soon as I turn them down or off the temp gauge will drop with each item I turn off. It can be likethis for weeks on end then I can have weeks when it works perfectly normal I am guessing it's a bad earth as change the temp sensor which did nothing also a few weeks before this started I had the alternator bearing changed and auxillery belt. -
Nissan Almera 2002 - Halfords broke my knob 6 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I went to Halfords for a car stereo fitting (I know). They've taken out the OEM radio and replaced with the new one, and all is fine except the little light that illuminates one of the dash knobs no longer works. Its the knob right under the stereo that alternates the air blower from windscreen to feet etc. -
VW Polo - A Curious Incident 13 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I was parking my car in an undisclosed inner-city car-park the other day with the radio on fairly high; ah, credibility down the drain already! As I was jamming out to my favourite R.E.M. song I realised the space I was attempting to drive into was far too narrow. I promptly reversed out of the space and into another. -
renault megane cabriolet 1998 - Intermittent starting problems 5 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Turning on and off the keyfob two or three times would sometimes rectify the problem and car would start, sometimes it wouldnt start but would be fine if left until the next day or two.....now it just wont do anything at all. The lights come on, radio on etc etc but nothing when turning the ignition. I dont hear any sound when trying to start so im thinking possibly not the starter motor (and im hoping not having been quoted £180 just to find out it might not have been that ! -
Ford Focus 2001 1.6 zetec - Battery Light, crazy dials, high voltage 27 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Then the speedo went to about 150mph and stayed there. Also the fuel/temp gauge will drop to 0, the radio will cut out, and the door open lights on beep will sound. I've removed the dash cluster unit and cleaned it, and given it a light coating of ACF-50 spray, but the problems remain. I've got a DTC 9317 code, (high battery voltage). -
Citroen C3 (2002 - 2009) - 02 1.4 HDi driving us mad with random non starting 10 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Electrical specialist has just found cause of drain - relay to injectors. Replaced it and Bingo it won't start! In between all this I've replaced failed wipers and the radio signal periodically disintegrates into a series of shrieks and wails - then recovers a week or so later. Anyone got a clue? Because we're thinking push the damned thing off a cliff right now. -
Volkswagen Polo IV (2002-2005) - 02 1.4 buying and fitting a new battery 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
If I do find or anyone knows of a quality battery from elseware and I have to fit it myself am I likely to mess up the electrics when I disconnect the old battery and reconnect the old one. One problem I have heard of is having to put a live feed to the radio so you dont have to mess about recoding it, how do you go about this and any other tips if needed would be appreciated. Thanks -
Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 99 2.5 electrical fault 15 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Having read one of your reports by BIGBUS it sounded similar so I took of the heater switch arround the radio & checked it I noticed that it had been re-wired and that all conections seemed sound so I don't think it's that. -
Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 06 D5 SE suspension clunks 26 Apr 2009 (Forum)
It has now done 74000 miles and while not getting any worse it is not going away. The noises can be quite faint to being loud enough to hear over the radio and for passengers to comment and to be felt through the floor. I have not hit anything and it has always been maintained religiously, can anyone help? -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 2001 1.8 intermittant instrument readings 17 Feb 2009 (Forum)
every now and again the speedo stops working, the fuel guage dies, and the whole dash will reset itself as if you turned the key on and off, and you get the oil level indicator and milage to next service on the lcd display. also get random 'brake fluid level low' caption on the radio/clock display and handbrake light flashes!! the interesting thing is that each of these faults appear to have a mind of their own and happen individually, and cannot be replicated! also the trip computer freezes up when the speedo or fuel guage dies! -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 loss of power 12 Jan 2009 (Forum)
When the AA turned up i mentioned that my central locking had been unlocking itslef while i was driving and also the day before my radio had just turned itself off and wouldn't come back on for about 10mins, he put a jumplead on and the car started first time, he said i had a 'bad earth' and that it wouldn't be expensive to have it repaired. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Boot opening problem on my Ford Focus 26 Jun 2008 (Forum)
This is not the only problem I've had with the car, I found 2 inches of water in the spare wheel area when I needed to change a tyre and the radio/CD player is about to be replaced for the second time as that keeps turning itself off and refusing to play CD's. I am pretty disappointed with what is supposed to be a class leading car. Rant over - any help with the boot would be great, the car is heading back to the dealer soon so if I can point them in a new direction that would be handy. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 95 1.5 strange electrical problem 19 Jun 2008 (Forum)
This can happen anytime whilst driving and seems to be stopped by banging next to the indicator/light stalk or even flashing my lights/indicators. But more recently the clicking now interferes with the radio and appears to turn it on an off, when this happened last night I tried the indicator/light stalk as usual, and all the electrics failed. If anybody has idea what could be happening or even a suggestion of what I can try to resolve this, I would be very grateful. -
Fuel shortage 25 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Peoples' ability to be panicked is incredible. A few weeks later I was in a big Tesco at Sandhurst, when while I was shopping a caller on local radio reported a rumour the protest was back on. By the time I came out of the shop all the approach roads were jammed with people trying to get into the filling station. -
Would ye stop doin' that, would ye? 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Here are a few of my passenger pet hates... 1. Talking - too loud and at the wrong moment, e.g. at life-threatening junctions 2. Changing the radio station, CD track etc. without asking the driver 3. Adjusting heating, fan, etc., ... in fact touching any of the controls, darnit. 4. Opening the glovebox and snooping inside 5. Screwing up a piece of miscellaneous litter or even chewing gum and ramming it into the ashtray or door pocket 6. -

Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - Battery light comes on despite three alternators. 1 Oct 2007 (Forum)
About 5 weeks ago i started the car & the battery light stayed on. The light got brighter & i lost my headlights, radio, indicators, speedometer, petrol gauge, all the dashboard lights came (Air bag etc) & then the card just died & wouldn't start again. We changed the Alternator with one from a scrap yard & seemed to work fine. -
Peugeot 306 - dead and now keys faulty 27 May 2007 (Forum)
We've been and bought a new battery and tried again and this happens: Turn engine on, dash lights come on, immobiliser activates and radio comes on. I enter my security pin into immobiliser and it accepts it and the light goes green. I then turn the key to turn the engine over and the car immediately dies. The car engine doesn't even attempt to turn over.
