  • any - V5 missing 16 Jun 2020 (Forum)
I asked about the V5 and was told they don't have it, though they are the legal owners of the car. They said they can give me a V62 document instead, and they will cover the £25 DVLA admin fee for a new V5.  However, does this mean that I, as the new owner, will be unable to pay for road tax on the car until my proper V5 arrives ?
  • Audi A6 2008 - Garage repairs 6 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Good afternoon I'm after some advise on garage repairs, my car wouldn't start November 16, took it to Vw/ Audi specialist, he advised car had dpf filter blocked up also rocker cover needed to be removed and cleaned due to running car on incorrect oil,  I had a bill for replacement dpf from motor factors and fitting for £1045, car has been back in garage since end of January 17 due to breakdown, garage said oil filter was clogged solid and caused the engine to blow,  I'm not a mechanic, but Surley this should have been replaced when the original repair was done?
  • Lexus RX400h - Any good car auction buyer that can be recommended 3 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Hi All, I am looking of sourcing a car from either BCA or Manhiem. I used to use Joe Dowd ages ago, but since he's retired, haven't managed to get someone decent - (i.e. who doesn’t try to rip me off or charge me a fortune). Does anyone know of a decent buyer especially someone who can cover the Midlands and the North West and Yorkshire areas?
  • Car advertised with 12 months MOT - only six weeks 3 May 2014 (Forum)
I have a copy of the advert where the 12 months MOT is mentioned. I would not have bought car if I had known MOT was so short. Is this false advertising? What are my options? Should dealer MOT and cover cost of any work needed? Thanks
  • Kia Ceed Sportswagon - After sales problem 8 Mar 2014 (Forum)
On a test drive, I was told by the salesman, that the parking sensors did not work beacause the trade plates covered them. When  I was using the car,  I noticed that the parking sensors were only working intermitently. I took the car back and was told that the system was not factory fitted and so nothing could be done about this.
  • Ford Fiesta - 60 plate Fiesta - warranty problem 30 Jan 2013 (Forum)
As such they are refusing my claim on the warranty. I know hardly anything about cars and have not got a clue what to do next. Surely a car that is only 18 months old should be covered by the warranty on this?
  • Insurance - So can I drive another car? 9 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Have to admit that I am one of those that has been under the impression that I can  legally drive another car without being named on the policy as long as the car is insured and I have the insured owners permission, although (and this is just a vague belief) the cover is reduced - road traffic act or something.

  • Reg no. on ins cert? 20 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Re ANPR and insurance certs I used to arrange a fleet policy for about 35 company cars of the 'perks' variety i.e. very rarely used for business and the insurers, a Lloyds syndicate, would issue one cert per car without any reg no. but stating words to the effect that it covered any car owned by the company and anybody driving with the company's permission subject age limits etc.

  • deep swirls in paintwork 11 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I have noticed that the paintwork seems to have a number of very deep looking swirl marks in it when the sun falls in cerain directions. I did not notice these when I bought/picked up the car as it was a bit overcast. The marks look like somebody has either polished it bady or washed the car with something abrasive. It was bought from a local vauxhall dealer and is covered by the Network Q warranty.

  • Volvo XC70 - Am I mad? 11 May 2025 (Forum)
So, don’t ask me why, but I’ve always fancied having an XC70. Almost bought a nearly new one back in 2009, but didn’t. I’d be keeping my main car, as I cover a lot of miles annually, but I am tempted to spend up to £5k and buy an XC70. It would be D5, automatic. High mileage doesn’t worry me as I took my last car to over 220,000 miles.
