  • 306 Meridian Spec 25 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Have tried looking for a site with a full spec but can't find one...can anyone help? Cheers, P.S. I did try an emergency brake and the car did brake without any squeal so thought it did have ABS...but the discs/pads were changed recently so not necessarily true.
  • Bahill Horse Trailer 23 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Could anyone please tell me where to get instructions for overhauling the brakes and wheel bearings on a Bahill 2-horse trailer? There is an override feature allowing the trailer to be reversed without locking the wheels, but I'm not sure whether the brakes are working at all.

  • Load Transfer 14 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Having seen a couple of threads where some confusing information has been given about load transfer under braking and cornering, I thought I might have a go at clarifying the subject. Firstly, I want to restrict the post to steady state behaviour - by which, I mean once the car is settled into the corner, or has been braking for some time, and the car body is no longer continuing to roll or pitch any further.
  • Is a road test mandatory after brake repair work has been carried out? 8 Mar 2024 (Ask HJ)

  • 'Keepers' - preservation of brake pipes, etc. 15 Mar 2023 (Forum)
Excellent for brake pipes.   I've always just painted old engine oil on springs and subframes every three years or so.  The only mechanical immobilisation I had on my first Audi (100 2.0E) was when the front anti-roll bar broke.

  • Vauxhall Insignia 1.4turbo - Residue from new brake discs/pads 18 Jul 2018 (Forum)
I've searched for both parts in an attempt to ascertain with what the discs are coated, but could only find general information about Bosch components. I even tried to contact Bosch, but they never replied. The brakes seem fine (and we're still going easy on them), but as I lost a close family member in a crash, I get a bit nervous. Many thanks to everyone. Have a lovely day :-) Lily

  • Ford Ka - Brakes & discs needed at a ridiculous cost 11 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I recently passed my test and was bought a Ford KA (53 plate) I don't drive often as I don't need to but last week when I started my car and drove off I noticed the brakes were quite unresponsive. My boyfriend (who works away for 2 months at a time and has just gone back) had a quick look and said that the brake pads and discs looked like they needed doing. I duly took my car to Halfords who said the car was dangerous to drive and that I needed the pads and discs replaced before I drove it again.

  • Peugeot 406 2.2 HDi - Anti Pollution Fault 7 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I have since taken the car into a garage and have they have replaced the brake servo and vacuum pump. The brakes are working fine again! Problem solved.. Errr No. When I took it in I asked them to look at the fault codes, they say there were none, I assumed it was all related to the servo failure.
