Brake caliper rust on BMW 5 Series

In September 2016 I bought a brand new BMW 530D M sport. It was a big purchase for me. After around 6-7 months I noticed surface rust on the brake calipers (braking performance is fine). I mentioned this to my BMW dealer who sold me the car and they took it in for a couple of days to investigate.

The dealership came back to me after speaking to BMW directly and they both said there is "nothing we can do, it is due to 'external influences'. Do I have a case to take this further?

It's normal and common on BMWs. The other MSport cars you saw have the MSport Plus upgrade that includes painted Brembo multi-piston callipers. But if you are fastidious you can have the callipers painted with Sperex VHT (Very High Temperature) paint. Or you can take the Far East option, which is a set of fake plastic red, yellow or blue calliper covers (eBay). I'm a bit curious as to how you managed to pay £50k for a run-out F10 5 Series when they have been discounted by £5k - £10k since last summer.
