  • Peugeot 407 SW 2.0HDi Auto (4 speed) 2005 - 136bhp - Onboard computer reading 45mpg real MPG 27mpg 9 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I've taken it to an independent garage and they couldn't find anything wrong. No fuel leaks, no diagnostic errors. It was fully serviced after the second tank of fuel, but the fuel economy has not really improved as the third tank where I got only 30mpg included a long trip, including motorway from Shrewsbury to Banbury.
  • Peugeot 806 - Peugeot 806 Running Problems 7 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I have a Peugeot 806 2.0HDI year 2001, came up with a fault code P0230, fuel pump circuit. The fuel pump when you switched the ignition on sounded very rough, it wouldn't rev over 3000rpm, the engine ran on when you switched it off for a few seconds and the engine light was on the dash.

  • Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - '98 - Diesel Primer Advise please 30 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Giving him the benefit of the doubt when he said it was a 2nd hand primer I went about locally to purchase a new primer but all they had in stock was a separate fuel filter & hand primer. These he replaced without charge. But now I noticed that the box that was in line with the fuel line with an electrical connection has been removed. I'm only presuming that it is a fuel rail pressure sensor.
  • Fuels: detergent or non-detergent 13 Apr 2004 (Forum)
SAE paper 932809 " Unless there is further interest/argument with the papers cited by Shell, I am satisfied that there is merit in only using fuels with a claim to quality.
  • Renault Modus 1.4 (16V petrol) - Injector Low Fuel Fault Code (Renaulr Modus 1.4) 22 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I have a fault code on Injector 2 saying low fuel as well as a coil 2 misfire warning. I have checked the coild and they are all firing ok, so It looks like replacing the injector is the way forwards. • Chrysler Grand Voyager 2.8 Diesel - Vehicle will not start 25 May 2015 (Forum)
My car sudderly started playing up on starting yesterday, needed churning over for long period befor firing up but then run absolutly fine. Today will not start at all. Have plenty of diesel  and fuel filter was chaanged less than 1K miles ago. I dissconnected fuel supply from inlet manifold heater and turned engine over, plenty of fuel coming thro line. Vehicle has only done 62K miles so guess injectors do not need changing, anyway this is so sudden.
  • 2005 Volkswagen Polo 1.2 (55PS) - Fuel Filter 4 Sep 2014 (Forum)
My car has 150,000 miles on the clock - I was reading online that it's a good idea to replace the fuel filter (it still has the original one) due to the mileage. Phoned up VW for a price (£26) but the guy said it's an inline one and doesn't normally need changing. There's a section in the Haynes manual about how to change it, so it is a serviceable part although VW didn't seem to agree...there's no recommended interval though.

  • Skoda CitigoYeti 1.2 petrol - Supermarket fuel 3 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Simpsons of Colne discovered that number 3 plug lead was burned out. Diagnosed cause to be use of supermarket (Morrisons) fuel. Therefore not covered by warranty. Cost me £183 for new lead and 4 new plugs. I was shewn neither lead nor plugs and on enquiry was told that they had "gone". Did a check on BRISKODA.net and discovered 2 others with similar problem.
  • Mazda 3 185bhp 2.2 diesel - Fuel Consumption 4 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I'm aware of the affects of a cold engine, or start-stop traffic, but compensating for these factors the fuel consumption still seems extremely erratic. I always drive sedately (1000 rpm) but occasionally drive on higher revs to clear the dpf. The car has only done 18000 miles anyway. Recently I've noticed the car pulling even with my foot off the accelerator pedal.
  • vw polo 1.4 petrol - non starting vw polo 25 Nov 2012 (Forum)
To-day i took each spark plug out individually and they all sparked fine . Also i disconnected the fuel line and turned the ignition and the fuel seemed to pump through fine . One thing i have noticed is when the ignition key is turned to its first position ,so at to activate the fuel pump, the pump takes quite a while to reach pressure ,about 8 seconds .
  • VW Golf Blue Motion - Wrong fuel 23 Jul 2012 (Forum)
After 10 miles it was not running properly. She called the RAC.  The RAC man came to look at the car and said it was a fuel pump problem and that she should drive it to the VW dealer 12 miles away.  The following day the dealer called her to say that petrol was in the system and that it will cost £4,800 (including £4,000 for parts) to repair it.

Sainsbury's nozzles have got fatter. Something weird has happened to the neck of the fuel tank. I've scoured google to no avail. Does anyone have similar experience or any ideas? Many thanks, David.

  • Mazda 2 - 1L of engine oil in fuel tank?? HELP! 16 Nov 2011 (Forum)
HELP! I've been a typical female and gone and put 1L of engine oil in my fuel tank by mistaking (was panicking when my car broke down for the first time in my life and wasn't thinking properly). I put in about 5L of petrol after realizing my mistake and drove about 5kms home with no problems.

  • Ford Focus 1.8 LX TDDI (2000) - Where to get a fuel pump inexpensively? 5 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Since the car itself is probably worth no more than £1K, I need to find a way to costs. My usual mechanic-cheap -won’t touch something like a fuel pump. Does anyone have any ideas?   Thanks
