  • Cleaning a dashboard with paint brush. 27 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Apparently my friend uses this to clean the dashboard nooks and crannies, you know all those recesses around buttons, around the radio, in the centre console, difficult to reach places and in particular air vents. All that nasty dust and grime that builds up over time. Now I tried this out this morning and it's sooo effective! Much better than a damp cloth or those awful fake shine sprays and only takes seconds.
  • Better things to do? 21 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Oddly enough at this time the M6 southbound a few hundred yards away was stationary and there were problems (according to the radio) on the M6 North near Corley. Blair's response to the petition includes the words: "over 1000 Highways Agency Traffic Officers now help to keep motorway traffic moving." So why were they not out on the M6 getting traffic moving?
  • Ford Focus Instruments acting oddly 18 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I have had no electrical work done to the car recently & the car drives fine, with no misfiring, flat spots or stalling, & all other electrical components (radio, windows etc) are operating as normal. I dont know if anyone has had the same thing happen to them? Any thought or advice is gratefully received.
  • blast from the past 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Looked as if it was about 10 years old but I was quite pleasantly surprised by it. It had auto, air, and a basic but reasonable radio. It was rough and noisy but you expect that from a commercial vehicle. The interior was very basic with bottom grade trim and hard black dash. No oddments cubby holes, no cupholders but I really liked the thing.
  • Cd fitting 2002 corsa 1 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Hi, We have just purchased a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 2002 '52' plate 5 door. The car has the original radio cassette fitted and I want to change it for the higher spec CD. Does this just pull out (via the correct removal tools) and the CD fit sraight in? Also, I have the opportunity to have one from a wreck that has a silver front.
  • Collect your car, Madam ? 5 Jul 2006 (Forum)
The tow hook was attached to get the front wheels onto the incline ramp, and then alternately straight and offset to the opposite side of the ramp until it was fully on. The operator was cool and collected, never hurried, but worked quickly. A heavy with a radio was stood by. The car was in gear, handbrake on, steering locked, so it was a case of bounce forward and skid sideways. SWMBOI asked me whether I thought that the owner was a lady standing nearby and looking concerned.
  • x-trail sat nav retro fit?????? 10 May 2006 (Forum)
I have been offered one of the Nissan sat nav units which was originally from a pre-facelift model. It looks as if it is the right size to fit into the space below the radio currently occupied by a cubby hole with a hinged fascia. Does anyone know if the unit will interchange between the two models? Also and more importantly do Nissan use a common wiring loom so the unit can be plugged straight in?
  • Sat-Nav Owners.....Beware! 7 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Please take note and take them in the house with you and don’t even leave the cradle on display as they forced the door on the car, and then broke open the glove box even though they had only seen the cradle.” This does not come as a surprise. Demand for stolen car radios must surely be very low these days but the advent of Sat-Nav must present a profitable new opportunity for the ‘low-life’! So, if your Sat-Nav is one of the after-market variety…..you have been warned!
  • M40 Junctions 9-10 4 Sep 2005 (Forum)
If you listen to traffic reports on the radio, there seems to be a disproprtionate number of incidents in the area of J9-10 of the M40. I travel up and down this stretch regularly and I'm forming a theory about it. Long queues on the on and off slips at J10 are the norm most of the day.
  • Bugs on front of car 12 Jun 2005 (Forum)
My local radio station has a phone in every morning on things to "help the listeners". The other day there, it was how to shift dead bugs off the windscreen, front of car etc. Usual ideas inc vinegar and newspaper on windows, off the shelf bug killers etc.

  • fiesta zetec rattling noise 21 May 2003 (Forum)
Very hard to see where it is coming from but boyfriend seems to think it is coming from somewhere in the central console area i.e. where radio, heater controls are but would be grateful for any insight. Car is obviously under warranty (bought from local Nissan dealership with their full approved warranty). Any ideas???!!
  • Golf IV Not Starting First Time Bleeping 29 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Can anyone help please: Golf IV 1.6 (8V) 1998 When trying to start from cold, engine turns very slowly and fails to start first time (or second, or third time) as if battery is rundown. Bleeping noise eminating from the rear of the car. Radio code and resetting of clock then required. Eventually car will start after trying a few more times, perhaps by giving the starter motor a rest for a few seconds. Can then restart engine as normal once it has idled for a few seconds.
  • Imported Golf V5 6 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The specification quoted is as per the UK but doesn't have the automatic windscreen wipers (which I can live without), fitted CD / radio unit or alarm (but does have the immobiliser). They will upgrade the warranty to three years from the basic manufacturer warranty for 500 quid. The savings are impressive compared to shopping around and haggling at the local VW garages.
  • old jag heater fans 31 May 2001 (Forum)
It does the same even on "auto" ie: it starts very fast and gradually slows till the right temp is reached but never goes below the MED speed. This is annoying and totally spoils listening to the radio etc. Does anyone know how to fix this without spending a fortune? I presume it is computer controlled..... I had thought of putting a resistance in the feed to the fan making MED the equivalent of low and HIGH the equivalent of med.
  • Mobile phones 31 May 2001 (Forum)
There are records for accidents caused by smokeing ,sleeping, eating, using a mobile phone without hands free, adjusting the radio or cd and all the the other reasons but hands free has a clean bill of health. This women will probably go on to convince some government goon that the use of phones in cars is against the law.And then we have another law to contend with that was brought in without any consultation and without any research.
