  • Toyota Celica (2000 - 2007) - 03 1.8 Front brake judder 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Was told the back brakes also had judder and the discs and pads needed replacement - would the replacement have been required as a result of the judder? Should this be covered under warranty? I purchased the car from a dealer with a 12 month warranty. Thanks.
  • Rover 75 (1999 - 2005) - 2004 CDTI Tourer - good investement ? 1 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I have the chance to acquire a car from my employer's fleet, it is a 2004 Rover 75 CDTI with 114000 miles covered, It has been 100% reliable and cared for by a specialist garage. They are asking £ 2850 - I think it seems like a bargain, is it this cheap for a particular reason ?
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Comprehensive article on Mondeo TDCi diagnostics 19 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi folks Purchased latest (March 2008) issue of 'Car Mechanics' today, and found the 4 page article on Duratorq TDCi diagnostics really interesting. Explains about injector calibration, and a whole range of other stuff. Worth the cover price if you want to know more about this much maligned (possibly justly) setup.

  • Polo TDI - smoking - injectors? 15 Jun 2006 (Forum)
My 1999 TDI90 Polo estate has smoked a little on start up for sometime. Always happens when left overnight. Smells of diesel. Car has covered 70k & uses no oil. Runs well. Gives average year on year of 60mpg. Could my injectors be a little worn or clogged? I'm thinking of trying something like STP diesel injector cleaner. Anyone have any other ideas?
  • Another Passat question 16 May 2006 (Forum)
The whistle does not get more pronounced as the revs rise. Does anyone have any thoughts? Incidentally, the car has an AA warranty until August. If this is turbo related am I likely to be covered? Thanks in advance
  • 1999 Vectra - ticking noise on startup 11 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I change the engine oil every six months. Is there any risk in using an engine flush to cure this problem? The car has covered 90,000 miles. Doesn't burn oil and drives well.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How fast for 7K 13 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I'm in the market for a car around the 6-8k mark.. Want decent size and high performance. Was looking at impreza turbos but for that money the mileage is too high or they're too old..Insurace group not so much of a big deal as I'm on fleet cover.
  • Pug 406 1.9TDi starting probs 6 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Hi Friend has just bought a 97 'R' Pug 406 with the 1.9 Turbo diesel engine. Car has 'only' covered 160,000 miles - runs well and starts fine from cold with no smoke, however the warmer it is the more difficult it is to start!! Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing it?
  • Short holidays and SORN 15 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Can we still apply early for the tax to run from next month, and will that cover it? Apologies if the answer to this is already here somewhere - I just haven't seen it.
  • Buying or leasing 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I am likely to be changing my job in the near future which will require me to become self employed. I will need a car to cover about 40K miles per year for business purposes. I dont wish to buy new becuase of the first year depreciation. Would I be best to buy nearly new or use some form of leasing. Is there any independant source of information on leasing schemes.
  • Saxo Digital dash reset 21 May 2003 (Forum)
I have a Citroen Saxo VTS that I recently took to a garage because there was a fault with the fuel gauge. It was covered under the 3 yr extended Citroen warranty and the dash/instruments was replaced. When it was replaced they did not re-program the dash with my old mileage which to me seems wrong. They have written in the service book that the mileage was reset but if the service history was lost then essentially I have a \"clocked car\".
  • Annoying Wire 24 Sep 2002 (Forum)
A post-factory phone job was done on my car by the previous owner. A wire runs along the top (inside) of the rear window. It tucks into a gully but keeps falling down leaving a bowed wire across half the window. This is a silly point I know but I can find anything to hold it up - I don't want to cover it with gaffer tape as that would look awful but because of the gully I am finding it tricky to fix it with anything.

  • Mazda 6 - Mazda6/2009/Diesel - Engine failure oil blockage 17 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Next day morning I got call from service centre stating that it might be a engine failure with carbon blockage in engine oil tank. However, I have to pay £90 for diagnosing the car. Mentioning that I have Mazda approved used car warranty they said I have to agree for the charge and if the warranty is approved I will be covered otherwise I have to pay out of my pocket. Having said that, they said they have an appointment for warranty assessor for coming and assessing the car on 31/03/2015.

  • Any - high mileage 22 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Just wondering what sort of millage you can expect to see out of a modern car that is well maintained? I've driven lorries that are 5-6 years old that have covered well over 1 million miles and still drive well and I've been a passenger in a A reg Mercedes non turbo diesel  that had been round the clock 3 times with the original owner and very well maintained.
