  less bulletproof", especially with reference to electrics.   However after deciding not to risk a Renault Scenic and maybe go for a Toyota Rav4 because of this I checked reliabilityindex and found this: Rav4 Reliability 103 (average 100 so ok) average cost of repairs £432.67 (!!!!) Renault Scenic reliability 79 (much better) and average cost of repairs £291.68 However....Renault Grand Scenic (same car just a bit bigger?)

  Please only comment if you are a qualifid mechanic I have a renault espace which i just bought, the water pump packed up and the car boiled dry. I have replaced the pump and it is still overheating yet it is not losing water.there is no water in the oil or vice versa.

  Hi, I own a 2000 Renault Scenic 1.6 16v, when I bought it there was no cover on the engine and water was getting into one of the coils (second from the right, I think), as it rained, water was dripping from the small screw (which I can not remove now as its been rounded?)

  I drive a 2005 1.2 16v Renault Clio Extreme 4. I've just discovered (after owning it for 6 years) that I have a trip computer, and I get 505 miles according to that from a full tank. This equates to £57 of petrol. It is also currently showing 45.1mpg.

  Having had my 1997 Renault Megane 2.0 RXE from new, it's time for a change. The old lady is bowing out gracefully with a bit of rust on the rear wheel arches and increasingly niggling little problems. Not worth spending much on it now as it's still going to be a 14 year old car and all's downhill now with it.

  My lease car comes up for replacement in a couple of months.  I'm looking at replacements now,  but the Renault dealer has told me he has NO chance of getting hold of an automatic for a test drive. I only have an auto licence,  and as I'm short & disabled,  I really need to test drive a vehicle, to make sure I can reach/see everything comfortably before I commit to a 3 yr lease I'm interested in the 1.5 dci auto,  but any auto will do, as driving position/internal layout are more important than engine to me at this point.

  hi, can anyone help with my 1999 s reg megane 1400 the car was fine till this morning when it wouldnt start the red light above the dash is flshing rapidly when the ignition is on the engine turns over but wont start, got a good spark but dont think the fuel injectors are working as the pump primes but no fuel i think the immobiliser cuts out the injectors i have been told there is a 4 digit code on key fob and a printed circuit in the interior light in the headlining, but there is no circuit and i have been told if its a pear shape key fob its an 8 digit code and not sure if it has to go to renault any advise would be appreciated

  Hi, Can someone advise on how easy/difficult it is to change headlights on my 2005 Renault Megane Grand Scenic please? I have had to buy some French ones as I now live over here in France (for the Control Technique) and have just been stung by my local mechanic for work on my other car so cannot afford for him to do these too!!!

  Hi all, Just found this forum. We are having some problem with our RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC RX4 SPORT for last 1 month. Firstly it doesn't start straight away. It takes few minutes to start. In the morning it worst. Sometimes after few minutes driving the engine goes off and you need to start again.

  I got the advert off the internet and it stated there was a full service history. I have a few problems with the car as the Dashboard has burnt out and needs to be sent back too Renault for repairs. I went back to the garage and asked about the service history. They said it was given to me at the time and I know it wasnt. Think they are trying to pull a fast one. Is there anyway I could find out the service history?

  Hi all, I have just bough a RENAULT CLIO 1.4 RT 1998 MK 2? I got it knowing it had the following faults, it starts and idles ok rev it above 1800 rpm and it starts to misfire but returns to idle ok. The second fault is after it is warmed up, stop it, and it will not start until it cools down about an hour later, can anyone help please.

  Hi All I need some help please with my 1998 V6 Renault Espace. It recently overheated and was towed back to a garage. The AA man said it's the expansion chamber, which I have replaced and it no longer overheats. It now makes a noise but yesterday a friend poured some water on the belt next to the pump and the noise disappeared for a minute or two.

  The latest problem that our Renault dealer is reporting with our Espace (50k miles) is that there is an oil leak from the inlet manifold. It's nothing to do with the turbo because they have just replaced that, but I don't understand why there would be any oil feeds at the inlet manifold?

  Am I allowed to ask about a van here? Just got a Renault Trafic, turns out the power steering rack is shot (seals are gone I guess, leaks fluid badly out of the gaters). I haven't replaced a steering rack before, it looks like it's pretty straightforward job but I don't have the workshop manual (which I would normally consult before starting a job I haven't done before).

  My Renault Megane 2001 1.6 Fidgi Auto will often fail to start. On turning the key it behaves exactly as if I am trying to start it in gear, even though it is in PARK, namely, nothing happens. I then switch off and try again hoping that the system will reboot to allow the car to start.

  My car is over revving, loosing power , using lots of fuel ( i have replaced the plugs) , very jerky, cuts out & hard to restart ( generally 20-30 mins)this can happen after a long or short run . ie rev at 3000 on its own but when i accelerate the revs drop , no power then cuts out. Renault have told me its the coolant sensor but ive got no probs with the heating or engine temp. Clio 1.2 16v 1999.   Hi, wonder if anyone can offer some help. I have just bought a Renault Scenic 1.4 16v. The garage I have bought it from have told me they just need to remove the 'change oil and service' warnings! This did ring alarm bells with me but it was closing time and they assured me it has been serviced!

  Recently my Renault 5 1996 Campus has started to have what I may be heating problems. The problem seems to be around the radiator overflow container. On journeys where I do not have to idle such as motorways, the car is fine.
