Renault Clio - Mileage from a full tank of petrol... - littleone
I drive a 2005 1.2 16v Renault Clio Extreme 4. I've just discovered (after owning it for 6 years) that I have a trip computer, and I get 505 miles according to that from a full tank. This equates to £57 of petrol. It is also currently showing 45.1mpg.

Is this good for a car of its size?

I'll be buying a new car in the next few months, not sure what yet, but what I'd like to know is whether or not this is a good amount of estimated mileage for a car that size.

For a 1.6 or 2.0 diesel, what kind of mileage will I be looking at from a full tank? Obviously it's hard to specify without me giving you a make and model (sorry) but I'm mainly trying to work out how much my fuel bill will go up.

Thanks!

505 miles from £57 petrol equates to ~53mpg assuming a fuel price of £6/gallon (£1.33/litree). Are you sure?

Are you worried about the MPG you get, which depends on how you drive and the condition of your engine (among other things) or the range you get from a full tank of fuel which is mainly a factor of the size of the fuel tank

My wife's 2000 Clio 1.4 would get about 50mpg on long journeys, so your figure of 45 is quite reasonable for a 1.2.

A car's trip computer can be fairly accurate, but your own calculation is the only way to be certain, as the car can only guesstimate how many litres you put in. I believe it calculates by metering the fuel through the injectors.
