  • Fiesta 03 1.4 TDCI - Blue smoke and lots of it 11 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I have a ford fiesta 2003 1.4 TDCI that is blowing a lot of blue smoke out of the exhaust, here's the details, hopefully someone can help! Ford fiesta 2003 1.4 TDCI 113k Serviced Oil/fuel/air filters replaced and fresh oil Still very good fuel consumption Slight Diesel smell inside when running Lot's of blue smoke after idling for a while then pulling away and accelerating 1st and 2nd, I guess the speed after is dispersing the smoke.

  • Ford Mondeo 2008 - Dashboard is having a strop! 18 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I have a Ford Mondeo 2008 diesel and the Dashboard Display keeps going off, i lose my stero display, rev counter, fuel display, speedo, fan display. Everything goes black so i have no idea what speed i'm doing, if i have any fuel or anything. Sometimes i have to switch the car off and turn it back on again and that helps and other times it just switches off when i'm driving and then lights back up again on its own.
  • Briggs & Stratton mower sooty 6 Aug 2016 (Forum)
This mower is under 3 years old and is clean with very low mileage (small garden!). I was away last w/e and Mrs S said it felt like it was running short of fuel - it starts to rev itself when it is. (The engine runs at same revs whether clutch is engaged or not). So she filled with unleaded from our usual can - not dirty. The mower now idles and runs roughly, with black puffs of smoke from exhaust, and the plug is wet sooty.
  • VW Polo 59 Reg 1.2 Petrol 30,000 miles - Engine stalls/nearly stalls at idle when cold 12 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I have checked for a vacuum leak but I cannot see or feel any issues with the pipe. I have been running the fuel down to nearly 0 for the past 18 months so I am thinking I may need to replace the fuel filter? Anyone heard of this before on a relatively new polo?
  • GOLF TDI Bluemotion - Misfuel 3 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I tried to start the engine again but it continued to turn over (even when i let go of the key) but wouldn't catch. Called the roadside assisitance, who ran a diagnosic check and said the issue was fuel pressure? I got towed to the dealership where i purchased the car and they have said the main fuel pump is broken which has affected the leads and sensors?? Anyway they are saying this can be caused by a misfuel, putting unleaded into a diesel.

  • VW Golf MK 5 1.9 TDI - Engine stalled and failed to started 16 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Again I tried multiples times of cranking and pumping the accelerator and eventually started and allows the engine to warm up before joining the motorway. We managed to drive the car on the motorway for 20 miles and filled up with new fuel just in case it was bad fuel.  We got home and parked up now.  We haven't tried starting the car this morning, so what should we do next?  But now having thinking about the behaviour of the above scenario,  could this be related to a failing crank shaft sensor?
  • zafira 1.7dti ecoflex 110ps. - a mysterious noise 1 & 2 2 Apr 2014 (Forum)
The car has been into main dealer 18 times (is 2009 with 41k on clock). It has had, new oil filters, air filters, fuel filters, tank clean, all new fuel lines, all new belts and goodnes only knows what else including a visit by head office technical expert all with no cure. Noise seems to come from right front area of car.
  • Vauxhall Astra Sxi - Vauxhall Astra 6 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I replaced the battery (Saturday) and the car started first turn of the key ( WOW I Thought ) After the first initial start the engine would only occasionally rev / respond to the accelerator and the idle was very lumpy it sounded like it may have only been running on two cylinders shortly after the engine stalled Upon restart the engine revved almost into the red but then died back to a very lumpy idle and again only occasionally responding to the accelerator Noting the fuel was quite low and thinking the petrol may have gone off over the winter months I added approx. two gallons of fuel which has made no difference at all Hoping the head gasket hasn’t gone or something more severe due to the bitter winter months Anyone help
  • peugeot 307 - Catalytic converter fault and anti pollution fault 3 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I own a 307 1.4 16v petrol, on a 54 plate and am currently having problems, when driving the car will work for a few short trips then will start to play up. It loses power, and feels as though its going to stall, it has had the coil pack changed, two fuel injectors changed, two exhaust valves changed, spark plugs changed, injector harness changed and we are getting nowhere the fault is still there! The display will come up with anti pollution fault and catalytic converter fault, guzzles fuel and the engine management light flashes.

  • VW Amarok - Amarok AutomaticHJ review 6 Jun 2012 (Forum)
quote...."The automatic Amarok comes with an engine stop/start system as part of Volkswagen's fuel-saving BlueMotion Technology. A first for a pick-up and still pretty rare on many automatic passenger cars. It's a fairly intrusive system and quick to restart too. The Amarok also get regenerative barking and low rolling resistance tyres which helps improve fuel economy - it averages a claimed 37.2mpg and emits 199g/km - better figures than the 2.0 BiTDI 163PS Amarok with a manual gearbox.".....
  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203 (2006) - Engine Services Light on and staying on 2 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Topped up oil, light stays on. The book contradicts itself a little it says 1. Light is no fuel- restart 3 or 4 times after filling     If not problem with fuel or exhaust system Later in book it says 2. Problem with electrics,   Either coolant gauge or rev counter   I have checked over everything and all seems well other than the low oil which I resolved.

  • 2002 Toyota Rav4 diesel - Multiple dashboard warning lights on at once 8 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Today after a short 1.5 hr stop I started the car to find 3 dash warning lights lit up (where before there were none (and never have been)):- the battery discharge light, the low oil level light and the fuel filter light. I limped home (3 miles in dark - all seemed fine) and consulted the handbook which says:- battery discharge (??) check oil level and add oil purge fuel filter (instructions in there how to do) Query:- I find it strange that all 3 lit up at same time?
  • Renault Laguna II 1.9 dCI - Whistle from engine 16 Nov 2010 (Forum)
It has only started since I took the alternator belt off to change it but turned out the one I'd been given was too small! So on went the old belt but I put it on the opposite way to before. I did disconnect the fuel line to the fuel pump, and bled everyting before starting. Could this be causing it? Earlier on sunday I did an oil change, and no differently to the many times before, so I cannot see why this would have caused any problem.
