• BMW 3 Series E46 - left car idling, now it's dead 17 Dec 2015 (Forum)
  When I turn the key in the ignition nothing happens. The only light that comes on is the airbag one. No response from the radio, heating, lights etc. The doors won't even lock. The engine wasn't very warm when I went back to it so assume it cut out well before 2 hrs. Have I killed my car or does the battery just need recharging?

  Hello,   I have a problem in that the EATC is stuck on auto, which does not let me switch it off or switch off the AC, it also doesn't let me alter the fan speed either up or down or the temperature.The only thing that I have done is change the battery , but had a battery  jumper pack  attached to the battery leads so that I wouldn't lose the radio/cd  codes,It hasn't been used for around 6 weeks and only noticed it yesterday. Any help or ideas as to what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated. if a fuse has blowned would show these symptoms.

  A couple of weeks back, similar situation plus some strange messages on Multi-function display, such as "Economy Mode", but nothing electrical, like radio, left switched on, strange! Last week, left stranded, car wouldn't start, battery dead. AA discovered driver side footwell swimming in water, hence electrical probs and strange Mf display. Can't work out if water is coming in at boot and getting to front or vice-versa.

  I am considering changing it myself and aquiring a new battery from one of the on line battery stores. ( less than half price of well known retailers ) I have the radio security code  and am aware of how to reset  the electric windows My question is, is there any other technical problem that may develop by disconnecting the battery ? ps Halfords tell me that they DO NOT use any type of reserve power supply during a battery change.

  Over the past week or so, the car has started to jump on occasion when at low speeds and pulling away. Radio sounds a bit fuzzy when this happens and the speedometer jumps slightly with the 'door open' light flashing up on the dash. Sounds electrical to me ?? Could someone please point me in the direction of rectifying the problem please....

  I have a 2005 Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDI Sport 100 with the following issues:   103,000 miles All 4 alloys scuffed Engine management light on - issues with turbo Both front brake pads scored Large dent/scratch on passenger side doors affecting both doors Radio knob missing Minor cosmetic damage elsewhere.   Would a Honda dealer take this in for part-ex? It would cost too much to fix the damage to get a reasonable price elsewhere...

  Another suggestion from a friend is the rear heating/AC system working, should it have a loud tick on a vehicle like this?! Can anyone give me some advice?  One friend said just turn the radio up - NOT helpful!! Thanks for reading this. John - Worcs.
• Ford Focus - Noise on Initial gear change on automatic 8 May 2011 (Forum)
  I realised when i had radio turned off, that on the 1st gear change in my car (from 1st to 2nd) there is a slight clunky noise , strangely this only happens on start up when i moved about 15 meters ish, and after that everything is normal... the noise does seem to be coming from the front end, havent pin pointed it but seems in front of pedals- this is my guess.

  I fitted the C3 with a new battery this morning. Very pleased with the simple plastic catch that locates the battery. Hoping to save the radio stations and the date and time, I plugged in my home-made power supply which is a Nokia phone charger giving 11.7 volts and a fused cigarette lighter plug. This has worked OK in the past. When I disconnected the battery a regular clonking sound was heard causing the interior light to dim in time with the noise as though a relay was trying to do something.

  All the doors lock and unlock repeatedly. Often it'll take a pause for a little while (minutes), then start again. The radio has also lost power. These happened simultaneously. I've pulled the central locking fuse while I search for a solution. Information that may be relevant. There is 'something' loose in the roof space and has been for many months.

  or is there some thing else i shouldd be looking at? Also i don't know idf this is conected but its had a issue with the radio going on stand by and the boot opening when it wants, these are old problems and have been with the car since it was bought a cupple of years back. Any ideas?

  Since then it chases low revs and bounces between 1000 and 2500 at idle. During the drive into work the radio kept cutting out and the rev counter and speedo kept dropping to zero before performing normally. After parking at work 40 mins later the car would not start and is completely dead, somewhat scuppering a trip North which is now underway on the train.

  (mostly M1 + A406) Now I'm wondering how to make the journey intersting and do something useful while I'm on car. So far I have tried listening to music but all my music collection exhausted. Tried radio channels - got bored listening same songs and same news over & over again! Tried audio books, but sometimes lost track what happens in the story while concentrating on roads. Any other ideas??

  The immobilizer was Ford Original, built with the car. I rememer only that when I used to push the RC button a "click" was audible near the CAR RADIO. Does anyone know how to "disable" the immobilizer? Thanks in advance. Nemo79blu from MILAN-ITALY
• Iced doors on my car this morning-could not get in 9 Jan 2010 (Forum)
  Ended up geeting in the one door that would finally open (NSR), and clambering over the drivers seat, had to remove head restraint to do so. What a spectacle, hope none of the neighbours were watching! I then heard a recommendation on Radio 2 - WD40 on the door seals would stop them freezing shut Applied generous quantities at lunchtime, and found them frozen shut again when I left work, so that was a waste of time! Car stank on the way home though None of my neighbours appear to have any problems getting in theirs - any ideas/suggestions what am I doing wrong?

  I am wondering if this could be the heater vavle or something else I noticed that the heater dial is pretty loose ie non responsive plus also the interior fan doesnt work only on number 4. Likewise the radio doesnt work either so wondered if they were on the same circuit or some relay. Any help appreciated

  Battery is fine, checked main earth cable from gearbox to wing, that's fine too. I have sidelights, but no headlights, radio works fine, etc. My first instinct was the earth cable, a common problem on these vans, but its okay. Is there another earth cable worth finding and checking. Also, whereabouts is the starter located, I cannot find it from above, do I need to take off the under tray?

  For several months my speedo has been playing up; it drops to zero and occasionally mileage shows just a bunch of dashes. The radio volume lowers and there is a slight loss of power, after a about 4 miles it kicks in again and all is well. I understand this is a common fault but my local dealer says it may be the cluster or the speedo sensor, either way I am looking at a bill of around £250, can this be right?

  The heated rear windscreen button no longer comes on, it flicks briefly and their is a click from the central fuesbox. Oh and the radio has died. Now anyone of these things I would have thought could have been a fues. But all of them makes me a little more suspicious. It's off for a service in a week or so, but what shoudl I be looking out for as I don't want to get stung.
