The Ford Escort Mexico production car was developed from the Escort 1850GTs that dominated the 1970 World Cup Rally, finishing in Mexico City 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th. For such a long distance endurance event, the crossflow 'Kent' pushrod engine was considered far more reliable than the more powerful Lotus twin-cam so was bored out to 1,850cc and fitted to the rally cars. -

Anglia's January classic car auction kicked off 2014 in fine sprits, with most cars beating their pre-sale estimates, and an 81% sale rate for a total of £890,930 on a 166-lot lineup. There were no big surprises with the prices, although thanks to a bumper crowd, serious bidding meant good-to-strong prices on the cars that did sell - with the projects and barn finds scoring particularly well. -

Hagerty Classic Car Insurance Announces 2012 Drive it Day 16 Feb 2012 (News)
Hagerty International, the classic car and bike insurance specialist, will be hosting a classic car tour to celebrate Drive It Day, the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Club‟s annual classic car day. As in previous years, Hagerty are inviting classic car owners to join them on a scenic tour on Sunday 22 nd April – the UK‟s annual Drive It Day established by the FBHVC. The route will be approximately 82 miles and will take approximately 2 ½ hours. January new car market 6 Feb 2012 (News)
The latest Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) figures show a stable start to 2012, with a 0.03% rise in new car registrations over 2011. Most importantly there was a 2.7% increase in private registrations over January 2011. Private registrations have been lagging recently, with the new car market most significantly boosted by fleet sales. -

While the residual values of most used cars have experienced an unprecedented rise over recent months, new analysis from Glass’s suggests that some vehicles with higher-capacity petrol engines have made a more modest recovery. In particular, the fortunes of used cars in the upper-medium segment are increasingly linked to the size of the engine powering the car.
