Looking for the "magic" car! 16 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi all, I currently own a diesel Citroen Xsara (X reg) which has been very expensive come MOT time, especially when I had to have the belt changed (~£600 - mostly in time as apparently its a very hard to get to and change), so needless to say I'm looking for something new as its approaching the 10,000 mile mark. -
toyota corolla - diagonal hatches (ghost island) accident 4 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Driver from the other car accused my of causing the accident claiming that lorry drivers do this kind of maneuvers when turning left. His car was not a lorry only Citroen Berlingo. Because I have only third party insurance what are the chances of recovering costs of the repair to my vehicle, and in general what should I do, to best handle my case? Should I hire accident management company? -
PCP - Rates likely to rise or fall next year? 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Never ever though of PCP but reading the Mini PCP thread and looking at Ling's webside has made me realise it could suit our situation for the next three years. Even more so as I love the new Citroen C5 and they are very cheap on contract. Could dive in and arrange tomorrow but wondered what the trend might be in rates over the next 3-6mths? I've never followed PCP rates to know how they fluctuate over the time of year and in the longer term related to car prices/residuals/etc. -
Cars which were common three years ago - now rare 21 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Fiesta MK3 - Two years ago they seemed about the most common car on the road, I still see a lot of them much less than I used to, I reckon in 2-3 years time they will be very rare. Citroen ZX - Never a fanastic seller but now very hard to find. Fiat Uno - Very rare now Skoda Felicia - Rust has killed most of them. Nissan Almera MK1 - Rust is killing these fast, only a few very late examples seem to survive. -
Offered a loan car - is there a catch ? 17 Apr 2009 (Forum)
My son's faithful Citroen AX was rear-ended by a bunch of alcohol-using teens in a Freelander. The Freelander, as one would expect, came off better with a cracked bumper and a smashed headlight. The AX has had the rear quarter pushed into the rear wheel, the roof is creased and the driver's door jammed shut. -
Don't know what make this is ! 8 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I then think a little further, suppose I took the two badges off the Jowett stick a chrome 'Electrolux' script or something similar on and position the tax so the make is obscured, would any offence be committed....likewise, take the badges off the Citroen and replace them with another make. Just hypothetical, might be fun contesting a ticket got when driving your Hotpoint !!! Ted -
1st baby on the way, £3.5k to spend - suggestions? 31 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The in laws have retired to the south of France - we're in Aberdeen, so a car that could handle THAT journey would be great - but to be honest it might be just way too far to drive. So far I have been looking at Volvo V40's (with high mileage), Citroen Picasso (seem pricey), Renault Scenic (not seen any in our price bracket), Skoda Fabia Estate (top end of budget). I'm open to any and all ideas really ... what car, what age, what to look out for? -
Priority road v kamikaze drivers 14 Sep 2007 (Forum)
can anyone tell me what is the correct behaviour at these "priority over other road user" traffic islands as I find sometimes the driver who has priority... -
Cit ZX Diesel smoke plume at start up 19 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Hi My Citroen ZX has been smoking like hell at start up, especially after not being started for a few hours. I can turn the key in the morning and literally a plume of white smoke will rise up and float over the house. -
Easy to drive van? 2 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Now I haven`t drove for a couple of years so I would prefer something with a more car like handling, narrow so as to be easy to manouver in traffic etc etc. I also want to be spending less than a 2,000. I have been looking at the fiat scudo/citroen dispatch/peugot expert. This is just long enough for a mattress (based on what vans maximum length of load statistics of 206cm) and seems to be a good solution to drivability especially in city traffic. -
Worst jobs to do on cars 2 Jun 2006 (Forum)
No room to reach round the pedals either. Another frustrating job was loosening off exhaust manifold down pipe bolts on a Citroen XM 2.1 TD. Can't get to them from underneath because of very limited access. Had to make up an extra long tool by welding a 10mm spanner to an old screwdriver then bending it to get correct shape. -
HDi Performance and boost gauge 26 May 2006 (Forum)
Having just driven a friends 1.9TD back to back with my 2.0 HDi, I am disapointed that the performance on mine feels so flat, could it be a fueling issue? I have a 2001 Citroen Dispatch HDi 94bhp, his is a 1997 1.9TD with 90bhp, yet it feels so much more spritley. Mine also seems to have a pinking sounding noise. mine will struggle after 90mph, his will cruise at indicated 100. -
Aberrant hybrid styling 3 Feb 2006 (Forum)
However for a true BL monstrosity, wasn't there a version of the Austin 1800 with a longitudinally-placed 6-cylinder? Citroen did something similar by adopting for the Light 15's last couple of years of production the big bootlid originally fitted to the Slough-assembled RHD cars. It wasn't all that bad but ruined the Light 15's lines. -
C2 for daughter's first car ? 29 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Although she has failed one test already, I was out with her in a dual control car the other day and even I could see that she's made a lot of progress and to most intents and purposes can actually drive now. Another test looms. Which brings me to the point. I've been think of buying her a cute little Citroen C2 1.1 Sx. One a couple of years old probably. Anyone have any experience of the reliability of the C2 or aware of any issues with the car ? It looks like I'll pay £5k+ for one from a dealer with a warranty and I'm not that fussed about depreciation on this amount of dough because she'll likely keep it five years anyway. -
Classic categories 27 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Styling classic, styling being important to many (examples: first Raymond Leowy pushme-pullyu Studebaker 1948?; DS Citroen). Speed classic (examples: chain-drive Frazer Nash; Porsche 356: both oversteerers that do a lot with a little, cars with edge). Plenty more where they came from of course. Let's not make it too complicated. -
New Van ? 29 Aug 2005 (Forum)
curently I am towing 1.5 tons with the isuzu however the extra space the van will provide should not make towing so frequent. I have driven hire SWB transit 280s and citroen relays and found both severly underpowered. My curent thinking is along the lines of a Renault master with 3.0 disel or Merc sprinter. Any thoughts with regards to reliability and suitability apreciated. -
Two Policies on One Car 6 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Thwn again, I don't think the remaining month of cover would be enough to insurance a 2001 Seicento when his is a H Reg Citroen AX 1.4d even if it was possible. Note the key her is that (A) he keep his policy running for the remaining month and (B) he's like to drive the car but he's too young to be named driver on wife's policy. -
scratch repair 10 Jun 2005 (Forum)
SWMBO is off to a well known vendor of motoring stuff and plans to return with their triple pack citroen metalic silver touch up kit. I figure £10 to have a go myself is not a bad plan because if I bodge it local paint shop will still want £170 etc. and the paint will be handy for stone chips. Some internet articles stress the importance of thinning the touch up paint. -
Stupid Adverts 24 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I get the feeling that Vauxhall ads over the last few years are in the hands of agencies who are being paid back-handers by other manufacturers. (TIC comment). The Mitsubishi Colts playing football. The Citroen C4 that turns into a dancing robot. The Volvo ad with people having inane conversations about space suits, life on Mars etc. The people acting like cretins who ring up and ask ?Quote me Happy? -
Ahead of their time 6 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Jaguar E-type and XK120 - Beautiful looks and real performance and at half the costs their exotic rivals. I would sadly rule out the Citroen DS because its design and engineering were not a strong influence on other carmakers.
