  • Father's Day Presents Road test 20 Jun 2007 (Forum)
No I did not get a Lexus or BMW In the land of cars I got a Meguiars Washmit & Some Autoglym Goodies. Autoglym products I have had before and if not the best available they are very good. The Meguiars Washmit is a revelation, infinitely better than "the old sponge" and a lot better than using the power Washer + attachments I bought a few months back.
  • JD Power survey 2007 results 19 May 2007 (Forum)
Ford is the Fusion. 2) Merc A-Class beats every single Subaru. 3) In the manufactuer's league table, Jaguar beats Audi, BMW, Mercedes, & Volvo . . . and they all beat Subaru (who are in the middle of the table with Nissan, Kia, and Ford.)
  • Orange peel - it's still around? 19 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Maybe this is because my cars have been finished in metallic Silver or variants of colour thereof. I pulled alongside a new black BMW 1 series a day or so ago and the orange peel finish down its side was very apparent - I would have been straight back to the dealers with that car, I can tell you.
  • Good driving = happy commuter! 10 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Not a big deal really, but normally when I try and keep a safe gap (not lane hogging at all!) I am tailgated/undertaken by the BMW/Audi behind so I felt strangely grateful for this display of courtesy. I felt like saying thank you for making one days commute that little bit less stressful. I must be getting old....
  • Super Unleaded, how many use it? 28 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Just got me wondering, how many of the backroomers actually use Super Unleaded? If so, is because your car demands it, i.e (performance cars, Porsche, Ferrari, BMW M5 etc) or because of extra additives / extra MPG the companys claim you get? Cleaner engine? Just curious to get peoples opinion on it? I've always thought about putting some in my car but don't think it would be of any benefit?
  • No temperature gauge! 29 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Realised that my new BMW 3 has no coolant temperature gauge! SWMBO says that a temperature gauge is something she doesn't look at anyway, and i suspect that's the case for many drivers. Also, modern, well looked after engines seem to work with the temperature gauge (where fitted) rock steady anyway, regardless of outside temperature or demands placed on them.
  • It isn't all bad news 4 Jan 2007 (Forum)
As part of a flyer about a forthcoming presentation by BMW about the new model MINI, was the following snippet. -----------8<-------- The UK MINI production triangle has plants at Hams Hall, Oxford and Swindon. This has received substantial investment of nearly 200 million to build the new model and to increase MINI production capacity by up to 20%.

  • lowdown on rear vision 17 Nov 2006 (Forum)
It's a great looking car and should give models like the too expensive Audi A3 and the weird looking BMW 1 series some cause for concern. BTW, has the C30 really got Focus mechanics? EH
  • Rover 75 diesel - timing chain? 15 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I am looking into these as an option now and wondered if anyone could advise on the timing belt (or chain) situation. I understand that the 2.0 CDT engine is in fact a BMW unit and as such has a timing chain rather than a belt. If so, do these still need to be changed and at what interval? I am looking at a 2002 (52) model that has done 90K miles with full Rover service history but can see no mention of the above work being done.
  • Tailgated-Whose fault is this? 1 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Saw someone yesterday who was driving yesterday at 60ph(with her 18 year daughter) on an A road,in the middle lane when she was apparently aggressively tailgated by a young chappie driving a BMW. After touching the brakepedals lightly a few times to shake him off, slammed the brakes for a second longer causing the car to crash into the back of her Vectra!!!! Dont have any more details apart from no injuries to occupants, but was interested in knowing how the long arm of the law would look at this, and would be interested in knowing whose fault it would turn out as?
  • Sale Of Goods Act 8 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi there I bought a bmw z4 3 years ago for 30k. It was ex-demo, 6ooo miles. It has been in and out of the garage for the last three years with mostly minor repairs - but a few major. All of these have been covered by the 3 year warranty which runs out this month.

  • Mercedes C class build quality 7 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Both were rectified under MB warranty without a quibble by a local MB dealer (although the second issue needed a modified wiring harness), however I am having second thoughts on my buy (only done 29k)- should have stuck to BMW or Audi?

  • Stupid and dangerous 5 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Seen today in Manchester... BMW X5 4.4 blacked out windows (too black I suspect) driven by blonde aged about 30 on mobile phone no hands free. Rear window lowered to see child in car seat (Phew!) and middle aged nanny/grandma? sitting next to child with no seatbelt.
  • 3 series beemer advice 5 Jul 2005 (Forum)
hi folks, hope someone can help.. 1 i have a 2000 318se touring and have an intermittent rattle in the drivers door...it comes from the window which when dropped by only half an inch stops rattling....bmw mechanics have changed window seals on more than one occasion for no lasting benefit....also when it is rattling i can feel any play between window and frame that could cause such an annoying noise on an otherwise good car 2 is this a chain driven cam or belt?
  • Why? 1 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Bearing in mind that their was a gap of 5 empty car spaces in every direction why o why did the driver of a BMW 530D Tourer need to park next to use forcing the wife to relocate the buggy with a half strapped in child. Personally i don't mind what anybody drives, but forcing a woman and child to relocate in the midst of strapping the child in, made my blood boli: Absolute clown
