KIA Carens (2003 - 2006) - Should I buy one? 21 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I tend to keep a good car a long time or get rid of it if it starts playing up rather than risk it costing me a fortune. The reason I'm wary is that I've just had a problematic Citroen Xsara HDI and on a limited budget cannot afford another duffer. Any advice appreciated. -
Inconsiderate horse box towing 18 Nov 2008 (Forum)
followed a very slow moving towed horse box for miles down a country road and then down the A40 in a very long stream of (frustrated) traffic. I actually... -
4 corners of the UK in less than 24 hours 3 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Interesting piece on What Diesel's website about driving to "all 4 corners of the UK" (Lands End to John O'Groats via Lowestoft and the NW of Scotland) in under 24 hours, in a Citroen C5 2.2 HDi. Did it in just over 23 hours, average speed for the journey was just over 50mph, average consumption was about 38mpg. Story here: http://www.whatdiesel.co.uk/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=1035 Do you think it would be possible to do it much faster in a car? -
Blinking Indicators linked to Alarm 27 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Other manufacturers have a similar setup. Apart from the french cars i have seen. Refering to Peugeot and Citroen. When the owner opens or locks the car the indicators flash as if its gone bonkers. Must be more than 10 flashes. Wont be suprised if you can set your ignition timing using the strobe affect of the indicators. -
Need an 8 seater 18 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I have heard that I should avoid an estima from a few people who've owned them and have had the head gasket go. I've also been told to avoid the Fiat Ulysse, though the Peugeot and the Citroen versions should be OK if a diesel with an HDi engine. That's the sum total of what I have been told. Does anyone have any comments to help me make a decision? Thanks, Ness. -
Clean sheet car designs. 27 Feb 2008 (Forum)
A few I can think of are the Rover P6 2000 of 1963, the Hillman Imp from around the same time and the Citroen GS of the early 70's. Another obvious one is the VW Beetle. Presumably the Bugatti Veyron is was an all-new design too, even if its W16 engine is loosely based on 2 Audi V8s. I think the Mercedes A-class and the Smart owed nothing to previous designs. -
Bumpers - poor design costing us £2 billion yearly 18 Dec 2007 (Forum)
On the Suzuki Swift, the combined front and rear repair costs following the six miles per hour crash tests caused £4,600 pounds worth of damage, which would have written off the car. The Honda CR-V, Citroen C4 Picasso and the Land Rover Freelander 2 were also rated poor for both front and rear bumpers. -
1st car 23 May 2007 (Forum)
Hello all, im 19 years old, and i need some advice on getting my 1st proper car, i had a citroen AX before but it had to be written off and im now looking for a proper 1st car. i have been looking at peugoet 206 on the trader and i have found nothing within my budget. with only £2000 i would like to get a car with the same characteristics of the 206 with the 'boyish' look. i have looked at clios year:1999+ and havent had much luck, the engine size i was looking at was 1.2 or anything in the insurance group 1,2 and 3. if any one could give me some advice on what to look for next as i need to get a car within 1 1/2 weeks, any help would be great :D thanks Tom -
Can different keys interact ? 29 Apr 2007 (Forum)
When looking for the original fault I rocked the keys up and down to no avail so I am wondering ,could my Vauxhall key interact with my Citroen? -
Most Reliable Cars 8 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Large Cars 1st Honda Accord, 2nd BMW 3 Series. Off-roaders 1st Honda CRV, 2nd Subaru Forester. MPVs 1st Toyota Verso, 2nd Citroen Xsara Picasso. Luxury Cars 1st Audi A6, 2nd Volvo V70. The MPVs and Luxury cars top scores were not as high as the other classes. One or two slight surprises in the results for me - particularly the French cars coming second in two classes. -
generalising about dealers 25 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Every so often in the Backroom, I read general comments about Citroen dealers, or VAG dealers, or Renault dealers or . . . . These generalisations are rarely complimentary. Can one really generalise that way about all the dealers for a certain marque? I can understand generalisations about dealers for certain manufacturers which are very good, e.g. -
Picasso Diesel exhaust life 20 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Is this normal? Do they make exhausts out of cardboard these days and do you think I have any comeback against Citroen? Thanks in advance for your opinions. AlanFC -
Reverse sensors - smarter than you think 23 Mar 2005 (Forum)
When I bought my Citroen C8 last October, the dealer politely declined to fit my trusty Hollywood towbar-mounted bike rack on the grounds that it would make the tow hitch protrude into the reverse sensors' line-of-sight and would confuse the system. -
That damned ZX! Please help! 26 Jan 2005 (Forum)
It's cursed...a Citroen ZX 1.4 carb. Right, so explain to me what can cause a squealing noise (like rubbing on a window-type sound) when taking off and changing into gear occasionally? It's not the alternator. Today's little jaunt revealed a whole new problem, it's reluctant to accelerate. -
Automatic headlamps bowl me a googly 23 Dec 2004 (Forum)
In the last few weeks I've enjoyed the electronic frippery that is part of my Citroen C8 but today I discovered an unexpected downside to the automatic headlamps. This afternoon I was passing through a village which is blessed with speed humps. A few yards past the hump is a turning on the left where a white Vectra was apparently waiting for me to pass by. -
C4 fixed hub steering wheel 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Just read an interesting article in Autoexpress about the development of the C4 fixed hub steering wheel in which they mentioned that Citroen first used it on a C4 of 1928 (took a long time to get the C4 on the market!!) but it brought to mind the steering wheels of vintage cars with various controls such as advance and retard etc and I can't picture them rotating either. -
Looking after the pennies ... 22 Sep 2004 (Forum)
My Citroen Synergie (which I rashly offered to the local dealer as a trade-in with 12 months MoT) failed said MoT today. Apparently the indicators were too white. (I thought white was an absolute; isn't this a bit like being a bit pregnant?). -
2nd driver - 2nd accident 16 Sep 2004 (Forum)
A friend has an older Citroen registered in his wife's name with his 18 y o daughter on as second driver. It is a fully comp policy with protected no claims. A few weeks back the car was written off while the daughter was visiting friends - she wasn't in the car but was the "name" on the accident report. -

Xantia VSX, Changing accumulator Sphere 5 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Been told a little while ago by a citroen specialist that the accumulator sphere needs changing on my Xantia VSX, and I want to do it before I sell the car. I assume this is the one that is supported off the engine block, not the one supported off the inside front engine bay.
