  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2000/xreg 2.0 Ghia fuel pump/fuse 20 Feb 2011 (Forum)
So I sorted that out and the next day bought a new battery, as the old one was 7 years old, hoping this would cure it. The car has been used all week with no problems and I thought it was fixed. But today after driving around making lots of stops and starts, the car started and stalled again just as before, the 15 amp fuse had blown again.
  • SAAB 9-3 (2007 - ) - Saabs gone downhill, or rose tints at work? 1 May 2008 (Forum)
What a disappointment! The interior is stylish, but the finish feels nothing like special enough for a £28k car. The driving position is strange with the steering wheel always feeling too close, whatever you do with the seat and wheel. Many of the minor controls feel cheap (including the door mirror control that looks just like the one in my old Cavalier), and the engine idles roughly with vibes transmitted into the car.
  • A dilemma 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I say to my wife, quick, let?s get out of here before she hits us - but I can't go forward because of the car parked in front of me. And the old dear is getting closer and closer behind! I hop out of the car to see if I can prevent her getting any closer....but too late. I'm half way around my car and the wife shrieks that the o.d. has hit us.
  • Pre Reg Cars after the 1st April 19 Feb 2017 (Forum)

  • Insuring second car for under 21 driver 10 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Student (age 20) at my work place has bought an old car for his mother as a present, he already owns a car but now wants to drive the gift car to scotland from cornwall. However he keeps getting told by several insurance companies that as he is under 21 they will not give him temp cover on a second car.
  • Car written off while being serviced 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
My 11 year old auto Nissan 200SX was MOT'd & serviced by my local dealer. A mechanic then decided to "road test" the car & managed to plough into the side of a 4WD Mercedes. The mechanic says that the throttle jammed open but the Merc driver & I both think that he put his foot down & lost control of the car.
  • SORN 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Back roomers, In late December 2001 the engine blew on my 12 year old car. The tax was out too on 31/12/2002. I filled in the SORN and posted it at X mas I kept the car on my drive, it would not even run, but it was still insured In early Jan I scrapped the car - got £5 for the car at the scrapper, and swapped the insurance to my 'new' car.
  • Mazda 2 - Recommendations for £5-7k reliable 5dr hatchback 24 Apr 2017 (Forum)
The Jazz I honestly don't care if it's seen as an old person car if it's responsive and nippy then I'd be happy, but I hear the ride isn't the most comfortable? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
  • MK4 VW Golf GTI - persistent flat battery 27 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Help or ideas would be useful - i am beginning to think that although quite new it really is the battery.During charging/attempting to charge i have disconnected the battery from the car electrical circuits.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 98 1.4 Multiple misfire under load 23 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I've already tried a few things but I'm struggling to figure out what is causing my S reg fiesta 1.4 v16 zetec to misfire and hesitate under acceleration and could do with some help. Thanks in advance! The car seems a bit sluggish all the time but the misfire is especially evident under heavy acceleration such as on an uphill motorway approach slip road. The car will hesitate and not increase in rev's or speed and then is will suddenly kick in and accelerate ok.
  • 1995 Corsa B - Swapping transponders 21 Dec 2010 (Forum)
We tried starting the car with the new key, keeping the broken key body on the same key ring – but it wouldn’t start.   We then tried splitting the keys, and putting the old transponder into the body of the new key.
  • Jazz or Berlingo? 27 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I can get the Berlingo XTR for not much more than the Jazz - although Honda do the full scrappage deal, whereas (and this might just be my local dealer) Citroen seem very reluctant to offer scrappage - they claim their "discounts" more than compensate for this - but leave me with the issue of selling my old car. I don't like the idea of not having a spare wheel - although in 12 years of the Polo I've only ever had one puncture - and I didn't know about that until I went for a service. I'm also concened about visibility - when I first got the Polo I had several near-misses on roundabouts with cars hiding behind the thick door pillars.
  • Volkswagen Golf VI (2009 - ) - MK6 Golf deals??? 11 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Only thing stopping me now is the chance that No 10 will announce a 2k scrapping charge discount for >9 yr old cars (like the german scheme) and I don't want to miss out as I have an 11-yr old Audi I can sell. Will hang on for 6 months...... Any other experiences out there on new Golfs???
  • Toyota Yaris II/Vitz (2006 - ) - Yaris 1.3 TR 26 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I found some paperwork that related to the original owner, he was a bit more helpful but basically said the car was a shed and he had got it replaced. His wife was really unhappy with the replacement so they sold that one at three months old. This really concerns me and I suspect that a row with the dealer is about to start.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1998 Zetec 1.25 - Documentation 15 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The car has done 68,000 miles and will only do a small amount of miles. 2) It needs a new offside headlight fitting. The old one has taken a bump and has a large crack, although it has passed previous MOTs.
  • Clio 1.6 K7M Oil Leak ? 16 Apr 2007 (Forum)
We have had our '98 Clio 1.6 8V RXE since it was two years old and only 4000 miles, it has been a great car, now 45000 miles, drives as new, no corrosion just a few dings, all in all a much better proposition than a friends 2000 Yaris. However I have noticed for some while, probably for three years or so, evidence of oil on the front of the engine behind the exhaust manifold, just a slight dampness.
  • The Audi is 2.... 27 Feb 2006 (Forum)
It's an Avant 2.5 TDI multitronic and I love it to bits, but it's quite expensive in monthly payments (it's on a PCP) and at the moment it's worth almost exactly what I owe on it (about £15,500). First question - my instinct is to wait till it's 2.5 years old till I change: it'll be worth less but I'll owe less. The last car (Golf TDI estate) at 2.5 years old was worth £2,000 more than I owed. Has anyone with experience of PCPs any views on whether it's worth waiting a few months longer?
  • amazing megane 18 Dec 2004 (Forum)
went to walkers Renault (Stourbridge) this afternoon, just turned up at 4pm. chatted to 2 guys (mark & Phil) about my old Laguna?s, told them i used to get them serviced here. asked about megane tourer 1.9dci 120bhp. after 10 mins, he handed me the keys and said, go try it out ! test drove it for 1 hour, (including going home, taking wife ala 2 kids out for 20 mins) may i say what a fantastic car it is. like victor says "I don?
  • User Roadtest - New Polo 14 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Looking at an old model Polo (the one with the revised dashboard), I couldn't help thinking both the design & finish were rather better in the older model.... Surprise no 2 was the engine - maybe mine had been flogged to death as a courtesy car, but I don't know where all the 'peppy' performance the reviews I read had gone - mind you, since it weighs as much as a Golf IV, 65bhp isn't a lot... but at least it's fairly smooth.
  • Taxi! 14 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The cabbies even send speed trap alerts to each other using the system. Makes the beat up, dirty, old Toyotas and Nissans that ply my neighbourhood look decidedly low rent, though at £40 for a twenty minute ride, Swedish comfort and accuracy of journey does not come cheap.
