  • Volvo S40 - car change 2 Dec 2012 (Forum)
I like the new V40, but am not prepared to buy a new one. I'm very tempted by the Citroen C4, having in the past had a Xantia 1.9D which covered 95K miles without a single fault. A brilliant car!  What is your view of the C4? I'm retired, and cover about 8K miles p.a, and need to carry two sets of golf clubs.
  • C5 - Dealers warranties/repairs/EU directives 7 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I also found several garages now have a notice on their websites staing the fact concerning servicing and repairs and how it cannot affect your warranty and how manufacturers MUST share info on servicing/parts etc. My particular beef of course is with Citroen who are adamant that it doesnt apply to repairs, despite it being written all over the place....    Any advice, anyone had this prob as well
  • Haggle advice on a C3 Picasso 18 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Thinking of getting a C3 Picasso EGS. The Citroen dealer has quoted me a price of 18500 EUROS for the mid specced option..   I know the C3 Picasso is more expensive compared to its rivals like the Modus, Roomster, Note and Soul but that is a rediculous.
  • Any - Is there are a directory of start/stop 21 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Cars I could be interested in: Audi A3,  Seat Leon, VW Golf, VW Scirocco Citroen C4, Peugeot 307 or 308 BMW 1 series Volvo C30 Need to find something under £10K, so something that has been around a few years would be of interest, newer models won't be in my price range range yet   Guy
  • Which small/medium car has most comfortable ride? 16 May 2011 (Forum)
It used to be said that the English blamed the road and the French blamed the car for a rough ride.   What is the modern equivalent of 1960s Renaults/Citroens with squashy seats and soft shock absorbers?  As French roads are now far better than ours, they do not seem to make suitable cars any more!
  • saab any - Another Going Going GONE! 24 Apr 2011 (Forum)
The French have too much national pride to allow their industry to go under for the moment, but the prices of the current Citroen Peugot Renault ranges are hurting them, especially if compared to the realistic korean pricing. After that all the european mass producers will fall one by one! Sad really, because the new 9-5 looks quite stylish.
  • Change of car 7 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Erin Dors has decided we must change her car. She has a Citroen C3 1400 Sensodrive, and thereby is the trouble. She doesn't like the gearchange ( and I admit to not liking it either ) It's not like a regular auto, it holds back between changes, much as if you were pushing a clutch in.
  • Best older estate car-honest replies please! 7 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I'm looking to replace my N reg Citroen Xantia 1.9TD estate with something needing less repairs/maintenance! Basic requirement is for : -roomy load space in back when rear seats are folded down, -need to be able to carry a couple of large items(bumpers etc) -reasonably economical, prefer diesel -not too young-(pre 2000)so no catalytic converter test on MOT -reliable and well built, not requiring constant repair -I've got a motor trade background-so can do do my own work -considering Volvo 940/VW Passat/Ford Mondeo etc but am open to suggestions -not keen on french models.

  • Vauxhall Vectra B facelift (1999 - 2002) - 2000 Unidentified beeping noise 18 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Recently my 2000 vauxhall vectra has been making a beeping noise (no it's not my mobile phone-i already checked) intermittantly. At first i thought perhaps my tyres were low as my husbands citroen sometimes making a warning noise like that when a corner is taken too tighly. I have now checked my tyres but every now again the car still makes a 'beep' or two. The haynes manual does not mention this problem.
  • Almost 80mpg, getting nearer as engine loosens 22 May 2008 (Forum)
The Multijet engine in the Mk2b van is nicely loosened up at 20,000 and is getting better all the time on fuel consumption. Because of its lighter weight though I suspect the HDI engined Citroen C1 could beat it. Regards
  • Round the corner 14 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I'm beginning to think I'm now the only driver without them! Unlike the original swivelling auxiliary lights of the Citroen DS, this system operates on dipped beam, although the BMW X5 has dip/main lighting in the foglights, matching the main headlights. (Well, it would, wouldn't it?!!) Cornering lights shouldn't therefore cause dazzle and should usefully throw light precisely where it's needed.
  • Traction Control - best way to use? 23 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Floor it and let the TC do its stuff? Pussy-foot around and ease off the gas if the TC dash light comes on? Reason for asking? The Citroen C8 recovered our caravan from a rain-sodden sloping field near Saltburn yesterday. The clutch was treated very gently and most of the manoeuvering was done at tickover. The TC light blinked occasionally but the outfit escaped onto solid ground with minimal damage to the grass.
  • How common is sump plug thread damage ? 26 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I've just had an oil and filter change on my Citroen Berlingo (5 years old, 62,000 miles) at a main dealer. As I was waiting, a gent came out of the workshop with the sump plug to show me that the thread was damaged. I'm not sure, but I think that means that the thread on the sump itself would also be damaged.
  • twin motors wipers. Any feedback? 20 Mar 2007 (Forum)
The system, in which each wiper arm is driven by its own electric motor, offers the maximum swept windscreen area via motors that are both compact and flexible for under bonnet fitment. The Bosch system is already being fitted to the new Ford Galaxy, the Citroen C6 and the recently launched Mercedes-Benz S-Class." More info at http://www.bosch.co.uk/content/language2/html/3492_4530.htm Any feedback from users? it seems a good idea but I hope the the electronic controls are " robust" Having experienced a mechanical linkage failure ( in a thunderstorm) , a wiper arm fall off onto the bonnet, the motor burn out and finally smoke belch from the dash, the Bosch approach would avoid this risk.

  • Saxo broken drive shaft 13 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi Guys, My niece has just had a drive shaft on the o/s of her 'w' reg Citroen Saxo break off. I was surprised to see it was tubular rather than solid and it had ended up like a corkscrew. Also the joint attached to the gearbox had been nearly yanked out causing oil spillage.
