Volvo V60 - The first 10,000 miles 25 Jul 2017 (Forum)
The fuel tank is of course measured in litres, and 67 litres is terrific, giving a 700-mile range. Eat your heart out, Nissan Leaf. Not-so-good things: - Volvo should take a lesson from BMW in how to set up an 'infotainment' (horrible word) system: the Volvo system is counter-intuitive. At least it's not a touchscreen, which would be worse, but I'd much rather have a rotary controller like the iDrive or the Audi system. -

New car - making a shortlist 28 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I don't want to reach 5000 rpm just getting back to 70 mph fron 50 mph on a motorway. Nissan Qashqai Very comfortable and excellent driving position. But the steering seems curiously remote from the car as a whole. Good acceleration from the 1.6 pwetrol turbo but no fun to drive. -
Any - Does Start/Stop Technology Really Save any Money? 23 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I note with some interest, that several popular leading european automobile manufacturers, such as Mercedes, VW, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia etc are making a big deal of their start/stop engine technologies and that the application of this, to something like a Honda 1.2 litre Jazz 'just' manages to move its annual VED down from around £120 to £30. -
Best van for up to £4000 please 7 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Disco TD5 is now on the very back burner as there is nothing wrong with the 200TDi (Oh dear lets not tempt fate, otherwise the works van will become an automatic Nissan Almera!!!!). So, the trafic as a van is fine, though looking tatty at 187K + miles and is hell on earth on the motorway. I don't need a high roof, though I may consider one if it were cheap. I would like one long enough to put 8x4 sheets in the back, which the current N reg trafic isnt though they can go in diagonally. -
The Science of Stupid 22 May 2020 (Forum)
A few years ago, while driving out of our cul de sac and more interested in waving goodbye to his concubine, he drove his Nissan GT-R over our rockery stones and wanted me to pay for the damage to his carbon fibre splitter. Solicitor's advice told him to foxtrot oscar so he came back one wet night to drive over the lawn and leave lovely tyre tracks. -
Credit Repair & Hire - Possible Disputes? 13 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Hi, My car was involved in an accident about 3 weeks ago. In summary, my car (Nissan 350Z 3.5l V6) was parked along a street next to a Showhome we were viewing at the time. The guy living across the street reversed and hit my driver side door. Fortunately he drop by and spoke with the sale advisor regarding the damage he caused. -
I bought an Almera 24 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Hi folks, just thought I would post to say that after lots of thought and discussion, I finally went out and bought a Nissan Almera. I tested a few Almeras and looked at a few more, and was pleased enough that I didn't bother testing any of the more-expensive-but-less-reliable alternatives. I looked at several, but the one I bought is an ex-Motability 1.8SE automatic 5door hatch, just over a year old, mileage in the low teens, pretty much immaculate. -

bought a car. Ripped off. 22 Mar 2010 (Forum)
He appears to have stopped using his ebay account since I emailed him, however, he was advertising a rather expensive Nissan Navara, on the autotrader site as recently as today, as a private seller, using autotrader’s masking facility for his telephone number. Using Google cache I also found he had one in January attempted to sell the car I purchased as a non-runner due to faulty gearbox on ebay. -
Land Rover Defender (1946 - ) - Land Rover or other 4X4 for a smallholding? 27 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I may not succeed in buying it, but I am trying to do some of my research in advance, to get an idea of costs. One of the many issues I'm checking is vehicles. My current car is a 5yo Nissan Almera automatic, which is a great car for my current suburban existence but ill-suited to agricultural use -- because it's lousy at towing any sort of weight, and has little load capacity. I reckon that my on-farm needs can be best managed with a 4WD utility quad bike and small trailer. 4WD and soft tyres is ideal for getting over the damp land in question, and a quad is much lighter than a tractor. -
The car you drive.. 21 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Boring CEO clones with too much money, or the office super-geek who can't remember what it's like to have fun. Definitely not dating material. Nissan Good, solid, responsible, loyal office-fodder. You like to travel and maintain that you can sell ice to the Eskimos. Favourite answer: "It's a company car." Mitsubishi Not as label-conscious as your Land Rover counterpart, but still suckered into believing in the ultimate Paris-to-Dakar, African adventure. -
Spartan Warriors. 7 May 2020 (Forum)
Honda Acty Van - A Tiny 550cc two cylinder engine with 30bhp from memory made these very entertaining on the road. Getting past 40mph was a battle. Nissan Micra K11 1.0L - Didn’t even have wheel trims. No equipment at all but what it did have was a revvy wee 1.0 twin cam motor, a fantastic 5 speed gearbox and a great chassis. These never went wrong and always raised a smile. -
Hyundai Santa Fe long term test 15 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Must say I'd rather have this than any pretentious German or British marque. I rather like the new Nissan X-Trail too, so much better looking than the previous model, even if the new one just looks like a scaled of CashCow - another one of my favourites at the moment. -
Insurance claim hassle 27 Nov 2008 (Forum)
End result is vehicle is now authorised to go to garage of our choice (which slowed things down more, but i wanted decent parts fitted and Jaguar paint warranty to be still valid) and i've declined the garage's Nissan Micra as they way things have gone there'd have been a problem with that too. HJ advised avoiding these accident handling companies....wish i'd listened, it set me back 2 weeks in the system and gave me untold frustration/stress. -
Pandemic bargains 6 May 2021 (Forum)
Wee car was bought on behalf of a colleague and has been utterly faultless, it has working A/C and heated seats. I’m particularly impressed by this one, it’s a great wee car for peanuts. 2008 58 Nissan Micra 1.2 Tekna 5dr in silver with 82,000 miles. Very tidy all round and again for sale due to bereavement. Wee car drives without fault and cost £900. New keeper is delighted. I’ve also heard through the neighbourhood grapevine of a very low mileage (sub 40k) 2005 Toyota Avensis 1.8 that’s in near mint condition that’s gathering dust in a nearby garage after the owner passed away. -
Any From The Guardian - Electric car short term lease 16 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Drivers also have to be at least 30 to qualify, charging access costs an extra £10 a month, and you only get 800 miles a month included. It’s offering a basic Nissan Leaf for £330 a month plus £95 admin fee, although the Renault Zoe at £379, plus fee, looks a better bet. It also offers the MG ZS from £429 a month. These have much more space than the Zoe and would a good choice for anyone needing a standard family-sized car. -
When DVLA inspections go wrong 7 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The most pathetic thing is that in the half hour this was going on not ONE of the 20 or so officers moticed the white VAN parked up the road with a trailer on the back containing a 4WD Nissan Navara !!! What a bunch of muppets !! In the end they got the right bloke and I was released, as was the Freelander driver, and they even told me I could leave the Previa where it was even though it was on double yellows. -
Mike Rutherfords Champions 7 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Closer to the top of the rankings, Mazda and Honda are taking over from Toyota/Lexus as the makers of the most reliable cars. Nissan is another Japanese firm that impresses me - not least because it is building the sort of reliable, desirable 4X4s that Jeep used to make. Having dropped out of the premier league in the recent past due to silly but wholly unacceptable quality problems, Volkswagen is back in. -
The final raceday 5 Sep 2001 (Forum)
The track was dry so the stocks (1300 RWD Escorts with steel cages) spent most of the races pointing every way bar straight, also a few collisions....which was invigorating. The hot rods featured the RED CAR that attends every meeting, I think it's a small Datsun/Nissan (Cherry?) with RWD and a 2 litre plus engine. The owner appears to own only one set of tyres....slicks. The 12 year old and I attended the previous meeting (which was wet) and the RED CAR managed a grand total of 1/2 lap (out of 6?)
