can a garage charge if they don't fix it 17 Sep 2005 (Forum)
It was taken in to the supplying garage, which changed what they called the "shower curtain" in the passenger door - and did the job under warranty. We soon discovered that the carpet in the footwell was wet again. We took it in. They did the job again. A third time we discovered that the carpet was soaking. By this time the car was out of warranty. -
Mazda 5 2.0l diesel 2008 - tensioner Failure 19 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Please really need help here as we just finish paying this car last month and apparently what Mazda say it could cost us up to £5000 pound to fix the car and it's so upsetting that we have to pay all this money for someone's mistake we are willing to take it further if it's a possibility that we can claim this through the garage or manufacturer that did the timinng belt kit hope for a good news please any information would be apriciated thank you -
Defective Child seat:refuse replacement? 28 Mar 2007 (Forum)
By then the warranty will have expired. The car seat has a 2 year warranty. After speaking to the shop, my other half agreed we would come in and be shown how to hold it properly. Unless I find that I have been holding the car chair in some inappropriately rough manner, I can't see any reason to believe that the same fault won't occur again and by then we'll be out of warranty. -
Yaris engine design fault - any advise? 4 May 2007 (Forum)
(Another aside - the car-by-car breakdown lists knocking from the front as a sign that the anti-roll bar bushes are failing. I've had this for over 3 years and mentioned it while the car was still in warranty. The garage claimed not to be able to find anything and told me it was OK. -
Ford Focus & TSBs 28 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Not sure whether this is a discussion item or a technical question but here goes.. I have a Ford Focus 1.8Tddi (2002) which is not covered by any warranty (Fords has expired as non-Ford parts have been used in servicing). The problem is I get a fanbelt squeak from cold, I've checked all the pulleys and put a new belt on etc but to no avail. I was just about to give up and live with it until I read a Ford TSB that applied to my car that described this fault exactly. -
Ford Focus - international warranty 11 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I approached my local Ford main dealer as to regards a warranty claim and was told no-way Ford don’t do 5 Year Warranties and they referred me to Ford Customer Relations who would look into the matter. Customer Relations came back saying that they could not find any thing on their Data Base relating to a 5 Year Warranty for my car, so therefore couldn’t help. -
Vauxhall Astra 1.6 - Spark Plugs And Coil Pack 31 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Car seems fine and we’re about to go after paying him £50 for the spark plugs when all of a sudden the ESP light comes on again. He then has another look, changed the coil pack which cost us another £240 quid ! -
BMW 318i 2006 - Fuel Leak on Used Car - What Do I Do? 9 Sep 2019 (Forum)
Hoping somebody might have an idea as consumer rights helplines are closed for the weekend. On 20th July I bought a 2006 BMW 318i with 85k for £2650 from a used car dealer. At the time of purchase he wrote 6 month warranty at the top of the invoice & gave me documents for a 6 month warranty from WMS. Due to the age of the car it only gives a 3 star warranty which doesn't appear to cover a massive amount, but figured it gave me a bit of piece of mind. -
Vauxhall Mokka 1.4 turbo 4×4 - can I use Shell Vpower in my new Mokka 3 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I have used Shell Vpower or the equivalent for many years in a number of cars includin Vauxhall Astras. I am about to take delivery of a Mokka 1.4 turbo and have contacted Vauxhall Uk about using Vpower in this vehicle as the manual reccomends 95 octane or possibly 98 octane whilst Vpower is 99 octane. -
CALLING VOLVO V40 OWNERS/SPECIALISTS 20 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Intermittent starting problem, with engine sometimes cranking unevenly then starting on 2, then 3, then 4 cylinders. Management light comes on with code for crank sensor. Car is 9 months / 7k old still under warranty. Dealer has had car three times and now replaced the crank sensor, but my feeling is that the problem is more valve related, possible with hydraulic lifters jacking / sticking. -
Toyota Corolla Saloon (2002 - 2007) - oil changes 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Those of you relying on National for between service oil changes will find a 50% increase in price, and they will only do it if they use their own filter,I always take a Toyota one. This might invalidate new car warranties .The nearby Quickfit had no oil! Geriatric -
Service Scam? 15 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I am just about to get my Vauxhall serviced just to maintain the warranty and breakdown cover for the year. I have had an itemised quote for the service and noticed that they wanted to use 9 units of oil at a total cost of £36. It didn't specify the units (litre or half-litre) but the car uses 4.5 litres to fill. -
advice on streetka 7 Feb 2013 (Forum)
This stops when you build up speed. The car is still within month warranty and going back Monday to have faults fixed - fingers crossed! Do you think it apprpriate to ask for further warranty? I feel that as soon as I leave the garage it will fail agian? -
RAC, AA or Green Flag? 2 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Looking for breakdown cover for a 2006 Vauxhall Astra 1.8 Auto I have just purchased. Which of the main three get the most votes? Green Flag is the cheapest, I have used the AA and had excellent and terrible experiences. No experience of RAC. Thanks Andrew P.S Car is Network Q car, surprised they do not supply a 12month breakdown service? Just warranty. -
"Trade Sale" wording on receipts 11 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Trader friend of mine still sells some cheap cars 'without warranty' and writes "Trade Sale" on the receipt. We used to do this years ago when a car was 'sold as seen'. I thought the law had been changed though, and the wording "Trade Sale" no longer exempts the seller from responsibility for defects in the vehicle. -
Ford Focus - 2010 Focus New or Used 29 May 2011 (Forum)
Used ones appear to be about £8.5k but the finance deals seem to be 10% or more. Taking everying into account the new one would not cost much over 3-5 years, is it worth it? Have not owned a car for over 10 years so any advice appreciated! -
2.8 crd - Chrysler Grand Voyager Battery dispute 7 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Hi we purchased a battery from Chrysler 18 months ago, it had a 2 yr warranty. Our car keeps not starting, and with 3 kids and a us 1 car family that is not fun. We have fixed various things, took the battery back twice and they say that is not faulty. In various mechanics and our view it is faulty, and not suitable for the vehicle they put it in. -
MINI Cooper + Cooper S - Warranty Service Plan 5 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Reading some of the comments on the web it' s surprising they manage to sell any Cars. Well I decline the warrant and service package. Still have 2weeks to take it if I want it. Also found out that they own Harry Fairbains BMW dealership in Geffnock Glasgow. Not to far from me. So I'm wondering should I take the warranty & service plan which I believe I could use at the BMW dealership or just stay clear. -
Citroen C3 - 4 month warranty.....??! 21 Feb 2003 (Forum)
He agreed that it wasn't fair, but said that if he did the repair, the garage would not be able to claim the warranty work back from Citroen. Fuming, I tell him to ring Customer Services at Citroen UK. They don't want to talk to me, but he explains the problem, and, funny old thing, they authorise the work, even though the car has covered 6600 miles.
