Honest John's money saving deals from August 28 Aug 2014 (News)
Click here Monday 18 August Britain’s supermarkets have gone to war over fuel prices, with ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Tesco announcing price cuts. The reductions will come into force on 19 August and see the cost of petrol fall by 2p per litre and diesel drop by 1p per litre. -
Bangkok Motor Show 29 Mar 2008 (News)
Thailand is currently engaged in a massive expansion of mass public transport, being subsidised by a 5 baht a litre levy on fuel, now up to 32 baht a litre (52p), twice the price it was five years ago, but still less than half the UK price. Consequently the theme of the show was economy, with gas conversions everywhere, GM showing a 65% CNG / 35% diesel conversion of the Chevrolet Colorado and glamorous new sports and luxury hybrid showcars from Lexus and Toyota. -

Free Rides to London on 4th January in Congestion Charge Exempt Volvos 24 Dec 2010 (News)
The introduction of the new Greener Vehicle Discount follows a successful 18-month campaign led by Volvo Car UK, which called for a review of the previous Alternative Fuel Discount of the congestion zone charging by London Mayor Boris Johnson. Volvo's 'DRIVe for free' campaign will provide a chauffeur-driven service for people attending appointments and meetings in the Congestion Charge zone on the 4th January in a Volvo C30 sportscoupe, S40 saloon or V50 sportswagon. -
Twin Drive Petrol/Electri Hybrid From SEAT 24 Jan 2009 (News)
The initial aim is for Twin Drive-equipped SEATs to run on electricity in urban areas, switching seamlessly to conventional petrol or diesel power for longer trips out of town. So-called ‘plug-in' hybrid propulsion, as well as the eventual phasing out of the internal combustion engine in future Ecomotive models, is also on the agenda for SEAT. -

New Small Car From Citroen 21 Aug 2001 (News)
Most interesting are the two new PSA/Ford 1,399cc aluminium block, common rail direct-injected HDI diesels. Power output of the 8 valve HDI is 70bhp with 150Nm (111 lb ft) torque. While power output of the 16 valve HDI is 92bhp with 200Nm (148 lb ft) torque. With 65bhp per litre, this is now the most efficient engine available in cars of the C3's size. -

EC Makes ESP Mandatory 14 Apr 2009 (News)
Compulsory low rolling resistance tyres and tyre pressure monitoring systems will further reduce fuel consumption starting in November 2012. Additionally, more than 50 existing EU directives and more than 100 amendment regulations will be removed and replace by UN/ECE regulations wherever possible. -

I'm on the point of arranging to get a VW Golf SV on Motability, so I'll only have it for 3 years, but find it difficult to decide whether to go for the 1.4 TSI 125 petrol engine or the 1.6 Diesel.
