• C3 HDi or Yaris 4-D4 20 Jun 2003 (Forum)
  I'm about to change my car (Currently a 306 XRDt). The choice is between a Citroen C3 1.4 HDi and a Toyota Yaris 4-D4. As I'm currently doing about 25K miles per year I intend to keep it for as long as possible (at least four years) rather than sell it in a couple of years with a lot of miles and high depreciation.

"1994 CITROEN XANTIA 1.8i LX 5dr Hatchback Blue.e/w,e/sun ruff,new engen,new tyres,new batere,new cliatch,new cambell,new stereo four speakers,s/l,alarm end remuve control,full servise hystory,two ownars,long mot,four monts roll tax. 5000 miles. . . . . " Assuming it should be 50000 instead of 5000 miles, if this was the kind of car you were after would you be more or less inclined to respond to the ad?

  My Dad is after a 2.2 Citroen C5 hdi, probably the sx spec. He test drove one at Reg Vardy as they had a limited number of 03 plates going for £12,995. UK spec as far as I know. He really liked the car but I think he thinks he can get a better deal somewhere else and the depreciation is quite steep.

  Also underneath the handbrake something rattles very badly on rough roads. The rear view mirror vibrates which the local citroen garage are going to replace under warranty. Have I any hope getting my rattles sorted under warranty?? To make matters worse some plonker cleaved off my drivers door mirror which is heated, coloured and electric!!

  Having previously owned a 405 Turbo diesel estate I am very disappointed at the lack of power in the 406. It seems to have no more power than the Citroen 1.9BX diesel (non turbo)that I once owned. I am wondering if either the turbo is not working (I have not yet felt or heard it come into operation), or whether there might be a problem with the cat.

  I think most xantia estate owners have come across this at some stage. Because the back door is plastic citroen didn't bother stopping water getting in because it won't rust. So the plastic membrane is relied upon for stopping the water coming into the car. I removed it in order to replace the lock, but now I can't find an adhesive to glue it back on.

  I'm missing the owners manual and the service book for a Citroen Xsara I bought at auction (BcaTewkesbury) yesterday. After over 3 months out of work the auction seemed to be the cheapest place to get a car to take me from Hereford to Leeds every week and although I'm pleased with £1900 for a 1998 1.4i Xsara (plenty of parking dings) it came with no accompanying documentation.

  I'm considering getting a car to do a 1000 mile a week commute until a new house is purchased. Current ideas are Pegeot 405 diesel or Citroen ZX diesel - early 90s for under a grand. I don't want to spend more than £1000 but it would be an advantage if it had some resale value or could tow a 1000 kg trailer / car combo. I want it reasonably comfortable and the roads I'm covering don't need performance but an 80 to 85 cruise might be useful.

  I have a K reg Citroen AX 1.1 which has done just over 86K , and I have noticed something when I change gear. Basically i dump the clutch change in to whatever gear and then when i lift the clutch and go back on the gas it sounds and feels like there is a delay in the clutch ingageing again.

  The alarm on my year 2000 Xantia 2.0XSi keeps going off on very cold weather. It seem to be down to the ultrasonic sensors because it doesn't happen when i disable them. Citroen dealer has replaced sensors twice and claims to have replaced central control unit too, but it still happens. Typical scenario is, lock car after use at 17:30, weather turns cold (2 deg C or less), alarm goes off about 03:00 next morning.

  The time has come to replace the battery on my trusty Citroen Synergie. It has lasted nearly 6 years and 80K miles. It is the first car I have owned that has a coded radio, for which I have the code, and a factory-fitted keypad immobiliser. Should I just disconnect and do the swap and everything will be OK, or should I connect a spare battery or battery charger in parallel via e.g.
