Audi Q2 - first 1,000 miles 25 May 2018 (Forum)
So does the DSG (wet-clutch) which works very well. Even on the 30-mile run home from Salisbury Audi (very good handover) it was obvious that both ride and handling were streets ahead of the traded-in V60: a bonus, as one might have expected an improvement in one to be at the expense of the other. And there's an indescribably good feeling that never again will I have to reach for the parking brake down by my right knee. -
Not yet sure - New Purchase 10 Mar 2021 (Forum)
I have three options currently with I'd say up to £18,000 to play around with. Option one is a 2014 onwards Audi Q5, 2 litre diesel S-Line plus. Option two is a 2014 onwards BMW X3 likely 20D M sport. Option three is a 2016 onwards BMW x1 20D M Sport. My wife has an obsession with Audi's of which, I'm not the biggest fan however I don't mind the Q5, it's a lot slower than the X1 and X3 pushing 0-60 in 9 seconds, the X1 is the fastest by quite a bit to be honest and obviously had the facelift in the back-end of 2015 so I'd say it's a lot more with the times tech and interior looks wise. -
A generation of cars - 33yrs and 696,900 miles family motoring costs 30 Nov 2018 (Forum)
The total cost of the seven cars (my TR7, Audis 2.0E, A6 2.8, A8 W12; MrsF’s estate Passats GL5, 2.0GL, Focus 1.6) was £53950, and we still have three of them. Petrol went from 38p to a scandalous ($10 a barrel to produce in Arabia) 138p per litre in 2013. -
Worst and best makes of OLDER used cars? 10 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Some makes of car I would not touch with a bargepole are Renault, Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover or Audi. Renaults I know have always been a pile of poo, Mercedes fall to bits after 5 years and cost a fortune to do anything to them, BMW's I've heard have a habit of spontaneously combusting, Range Rovers I've seen three or four times suffer terminal engine and gearbox faults, and Audi are just plain expensive I think. -
A4, V50, C Class, A6, Mazda 6, Passat, BMW 3 and 5 - Does HJ or Anyone even read the questions? 26 Jun 2013 (Forum)
We do want (or would like) bells and whistles, kerb appeal, prestige, and toys too, All the things you get with the top end of the range cars, so my question really is; Is it better to go for a slightly older BMW, Merc, Audi, VW with more miles on it, or a newer lower mileage 407, Mazda 6, Mondeo, etcetera? It's the same old thing that we want our cake and eat it. Obviously something has to give, and we wondered what do you think is the way to go please? -

Cars people race 17 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I have two cars a Mazda RX8 (although used to be my only car)and an Alfa 156 1.8 for everyday use and over the last 10 years I have owned a number of cars, both personally and as company cars, Astra, Mondeo, Audi A4, Jaguar X type.... I have noticed that it is rare for anyone to race the Mazda but find myself constantly being raced in the Alfa, dangerously so. Yesterday Ihad two incidents - on the same roundabout - going to the shops I was raced round the inside of the roundabout by an old Escort, it had huge exhausts and was driven by a young blond teenage girl. -
Recommend me a used car 1 Jun 2025 (Forum)
However it seems that used Volvos really aren't as cheap as they were when I purchased my V60! Also considering Audi, BMW, Mercedes - not sure about other brands as they seem to be underpowered (VW) or often butt ugly (Skoda). Open to hearing otherwise though! -
Replacing my old ST-2 3 May 2020 (Forum)
Hi, so I was going to replace my old 09 ST-2 this summer but with current events it might be next year now, however I have been looking at various cars and have narrowed it down to. Audi A4-quattro 2.0l or possibly the V6 Diesel Jag XE 2.0 AWD BMW 3 series X Drive 330i or the equivalent Diesel Ideally the car will have equal to or better fuel economy than the ST and be able to carry 2 adults and a child in a car seat in the back for occasional short trips. -
VW Jetta - Replacing an engine - How hard is it? 23 Apr 2020 (Forum)
So I can't seem to find a mechanic local that is willing to replace an engine in my 2010 Jetta 1.9 TDi and I am thinking on giving it a shot myself along with some friends. From googling it is the same as the Seat/VW/Audi variants i.e A3 etc I would consider myself fairly handy when doing work on cars, but I have never done anything this big before. i.e i've done wheel bearings/hubs, suspension changes, radiators, differential changes, brakes along with the usual servicing. -
VW Golf TDI - Personal Lease or Purchase 21 Mar 2017 (Forum)

Bentley Bentayga - Bentley Bentagya 30 Sep 2016 (Forum)
1) To drive like a loon around back roads its fun and impressive 2) To look at from a distance it looks good 3) To drive sedately it feels swimmy and made me car sick as a driver (I'm never car sick) 4) That big shiny grill at the front is just plastic 5) There are lots of Audi Q7 bits on the inside which cheapen it - more plastic 6) The Event Specification (£2500) consists of a flimsy fold down seat and poor fitting mechanism that I wouldn't pay more than a couple of hundred £ for 7) You can buy a top spec Range Rover with all the toys for the entry level price of the Bentayga and you would have a better car in all manners Yes its fast, yes it looks good but it is not worth it in any way. -
Todays cars are not meant to last! 19 May 2016 (Forum)
He who was looked the spitting image of Honest John (without the hat). He was very knowledgable about cars. He woudl tell me the Audi have this issue or that car has the engine mounted this way and it has that problem. He could pick each car, and tell me the pros and cons of every car! He basically said today's cars not meant to last 5 years! -

FIAT 500X CROSS PLUS - Is it really a proper 4x4? 19 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I am looking to buy a 4x4 next year (will be in a financial position to do and will be possibly moving to an even more rural area than where I currently live) that has space for a number of cat baskets in the boot and possibly a dog or two in the future and one that will cope well with rural roads and in the snow. I will be part exchanging an Audi TT Quattro 1.8 225 convertible (very impractical re pets and snow etc!!) so would like a good/fun looking vehicle and also not one that’s massive to drive. The Fiat 500x Cross Plus has been suggested to me which looks lovely but I'm not sure despite what Fiat gives the impression of, whether this is really going to be the size and 4x4 practical capability that I'm looking for. -
lexus ct200h - Cars with Futuristic / Technical / interior design 7 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I find interior designs such as Lexus CT200h (with all the back lights such as gree light when you go "Eco" mode or red light when you go "Sport" mode), or the ldashboard layout of the Honda CRZ to be very beautiful. On the other hand, I find the simple designs such as the ones on most BMWs and Audis to be extreamly boaring. This may sound odd, I love lots of bottons and lights in the interior designs. I'm a very technical and computer person myself (Game Designer) and would love to see my options when it comes to affordable used cars with technical and futuristic interior designs. -
Any - LPG or Diesel 30 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Thinking of 08/09 plates in: Honda Accord / Mazda 6 / Maybe a BMW 3 / Audi A4 Obvious choice is Diesel, but after reading about numerous problems with DPF's and the costs associated in fixing I am put off with it all. -

Ford Mondeo 2.2 tdci estate - Average mpg 23 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Hello can anyone tell me what mileage they get to a tank in there mondeo when I fill up the computer says approx 440 miles. If I reset the mpg reading and take it easy then I average 38 - 40 mpg. My mate has a Audi and when he fills up the tank range is 700 miles plus I'm lucky to get 400 miles from a tank. The general journeys are stop and start 10 mile here or there. On a long journey I can average 50 mpg. Based on fords figures even at 35 mpg I should get approx 531 to a tank. -
Any - Built-in sat nav - will it date 17 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I noticed that the latest BMW iDrive "CIC" widescreen systems look far more sophisticated than their previous efforts. The Audi nav in a friends 03-reg A6 Avant looks hopelessly dated and is fiddly to operate. So, is in-built nav a worthwhile investment for a long-term ownership proposition?
