  • Is this the highest mileage on an MPV (HDi)? 24 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm driving a Citroen Synergie HDI 2.0 and was recently getting twitchy about the mileage, I'm up to 140k. But browsing the web last night I spotted another HDI Synergie with 398,500 miles!!! (on www.mpvcar.co.uk). Now I feel reassured!
  • Zafira / Touran and others - ownership 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Both the Opel Zafira and Volkswagen Touran have reasonable new car offers on them at the moment, undercutting the likes of renault / citroen / ford / peugeot / etc and making them the cheapest 'proper' 7 seater cars on the market. I just wondered what they were like for daily familly use, reliability, servicing, etc. Expecting to do around 15k miles per annum and own the car for 5 years.
  • Cit C3 HDi idles but cuts with throttle. 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Hello backroomers.... have a 54 plate Citroen C3 1.4HDi 8 valve. Done 61500 miles. Have been having intermittent "hics" whilst driving for a while now. Got much worse yesterday, it will start no problem and idle no problem, but when any load is put on it, pushing the accelerator etc - it "cuts" the result being revs dropping and recovering, the rev counter goes up and down, kind of like extreme hunting.
  • Engine Oil Brand 5 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Time to change the oil in my '99 Citroen Saxo 1.1i on 75,000 miles. I usually use Magnatec but its expensive, especially now they started doing it in 4l cans for the same price as the old 4.5l cans... So I was wondering if people could tell me: Am I better off getting a "good" (branded) oil or getting a cheaper oil that is a better spec (fully synthetic???)

  • Reliability:Citroen tops Europe 26 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Just reading though the HJ story on Warranty Direct's survey - certainly surprised me - Citroen/Peugoet trounes all (but one - Mini) the European car makers for reliability judged via WD's claim stats. Also surprising to see Skoda in a lowly 32nd place, behind Jaguar - weren't Skoda the new wunderkinds just a couple years ago?
  • Diesel or Petrol???? 21 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi, Can you tell me the best car/engine/fuel for me. I have a diesel 2.2 hdi Citroen C5 at the moment, and also have a caravan that I use in total 4 weeks a year (travel to europe for summer holiday) the C5 pulls it lovely but do I need a Diesel? only drive about 8000 miles a year.
  • Picasso washers front & back 28 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Hi Both the front and back screenwash squirters have stopped working at the same time on our X-reg Citroen Picasso. I think the pumps/motors might not be working because I can't hear any noise at all when pulling/twisting the controls, whereas usually you hear the little hum or whine. The squirters are not blocked externally as far as I can tell and the reservoir is full of screenwash.
  • 405TD clutch cable - how much? 5 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I've also checked Europarts but they don't do one either. Google's drawn a blank too. Thanks. Steve. --- Xantia HDi. Buy a Citroen and get to know the local GSF staff better...
  • Omega ('97) Rough Idle 4 Jan 2006 (Forum)
He's despairing, and it's eating into his meagre profits. Does anyone know of a common fault on these machines? Cheers rg '97 2.5 Citroen XM Estate
  • Making a monkey of the diesel myth 29 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Interesting article in the weekend press where the fuel economy of a 1.1 litre petrol Citroen C1 was compared with a 1.4HDI diesel C1 on a complete lap of the M25 at 50 mph (traffic & cameras permitting). Contrary to expectations the the diesel car achieved 82.7 mpg at a cost of £6.37, whilst the petrol engined motor returned a remarkable 85.5 mpg at a cost of £6.10.
  • Polisher for cutting paintwork 17 Apr 2004 (Forum)
My red Citroen van is now an unattractive shade of pink, so needs cutting back. Being allergic to elbow grease I want to buy a power polisher - there seem to be two basic types a)angle grinder-type, generally variable speed, 900-1300W b)cheaper lower powered diy type, sold for car polishing by Halfords etc Which do I need (for occasional use) - will the cheapy be adequate?
  • How does a Dynapact wrench work? 16 Nov 2003 (Forum)
A web search only reveals that Dynapact make torque multiplying systems used in some air wrenches but no mention of manual wrenches although my BX Haynes manual says Citroen recommends the manual wrench for some applications. Is it a complicated cogged multiplier system or is there some sort of spring tension in the wrench?
  • Cheap Suzuki's 3 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Given that they're UK spec and being Suzuki's, not too likely to go wrong, this doesn't seem bad to me. Shame about Citroen prices going up - I thought the trend was down? KB.
  • High depreciation car 31 Jan 2003 (Forum)
What is the cheapest way of running a 1yr old car with relatively high depreciation and looking to change in 2 or 3 years when the warranty is out? Say for example, a Citroen C5 diesel. I have looked and Personal Contract Hire and Personal Contract Purchase are similar prices to other cars that size, eg Laguna, Mondeo etc. Been quoted a minimum guaranteed future value / final payment of just under £3k in 3 yrs on a 02 car at £11k now. (£300/mth 36mths £550 deposit)
  • Stupid question 3 Dec 2002 (Forum)
My present car delivers (on paper) 144 ft/lbs of torque from 1905 cc. The Citroen C3 delivers 151 ft/lbs from only 1400 cc. ( I hope my figures are correct) Question. Are the ft/lbs the "same". In other words will it feel like more power or will it run out of urge on hills, for example, simply because even though it gives 151 ft/lbs it is giving them from only 1400 cc and not 1905 cc.If you see what I mean.
  • Removing rear view mirror mount 22 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Whilst doing some more fantastic modifications to my soon-to-be-featured-in-a-magazine Citroen AX, I managed to snap off the rear view mirror. Oops. So now I'm left with the mount right in the position I want to stick the new one I've got. How can I remove the pesky mounting point? All the solutions I could find involed hairdryers - I live in a house full of blokes, so hairdryers aren't really available :)
  • Cheap ZX - urgent! 9 Apr 2002 (Forum)
J reg Citroen ZX 1.4i Advantage 59000 miles No history £750 Drove well enough and bodywork, clutch and gearbox are excellent. But would need a service, the tracking is quite bad, and there's a squeaking noise from the brake pedal.
