  I've run out of things to check anybody got any ideas as i'm thinking of putting it into  Renault  to see if they can find anything or calling the xfiles to find the mysteriously missing petrol as its costing me a small fortune in petrol its only just better than my 4x4 ...

  Now I might just be lucky, but for £1300 I have a car with no rust, full service history, one previous owner, 59000 miles, and one that feels and looks virtually brand new - in fact the Passat had more rattles internally! I am aware of the potential faults with a Renault, but to be honest at this sort of value - and having checked prices for the likely parts like coil packs etc - I am quids in. Just goes to show that there ARE great cheap motors out there, AND that in these current conditions a down trade doesn't have to leave you feeling depressed and embarrassed about what you drive!

  The brakes work fine, and the parking brake works as it should... I don't really want to take it to a Renault dealer. Any help much appreciated! Regards, Rick. Subject line tweak to make everything fit [removed engine size - I know, I know :-( ] altered year to read 2004 - don't think they made electronic parking brakes in 1954 - sensible chaps !

  HI I have been having lots of problems with my Renault Clio 1.5DCI Dynamique recently and wondered whether any one has had similar problems and/or can provide any advice. About 2 weeks ago the coil light on the dash was sporadically coming on and subsequently I was only able to start the car intermittently.

  Anyone tried the Duster with the 1.0 petrol engine? i assume this is the Renault 1.0 unit with more grunt and not the Dacia unit that is found in the Sandero/Logan MCV? I take it this engine was only introduced to lower the Dacia groups Co2 average as the 1.6 petrol it has replaced produced considerably more Co2?

  What causes a brand new diesel car to smoke under any acceleration? My father in law has bought a Renault Modus and it smokes like a cross channel ferry! I once saw the same thing on a brand new Focus a few years back. It's so bad I reckon he could get stopped by plod.

  My friend is thinking about downsizing from a Picasso to either a Renault Modus, Merc A class or C3. I said the A class has bad reputation, but I dont know much about the others. Which engines/models are the ones to go for. Also are there any other models he should consider.

  The manual mentions removal of some parts but I can't see which. Don't want to spend pounds at the Renault dealer for a 60p bulb! Does anybody know where the cabin filter is on these models ?

  hi, im looking for any tips regarding a renault clio 1.4 1999 with abs light permenantly on and engine management light never coming on! Should the engine management light come on with ignition on this model? also is there any reset or fault code retrievel procedure for this model without diagnostic equipment?

  Anything to look out for? Local Renault Dealer has a new delivery miles scenic 1.6 expression auto with metallic paint and some other goodies including panormaic sunroof asking £12700. 2 Year Warrany seems to be only catch. Is this good or can I do better?

  Can anyone tell me what daN.m means on tightening torques? Just replaced the rear hub and bearing on a scenic 1997 with abs and looked on my renault cd for the retightening torque on the hub nut. It is listing it in daN.m at 25 !. If this was standard Nm then surely it would be tighter than 25Nm? Any help is always appreciated. Thanks again David.

  My Renault Kangoo is coming up for 50k and is just coming out of its 3 year warranty,I was thinking of changing the cambelt at the next service (54k).Do you think this is a bit premature and does anyone have any reports of early cambelt failures.It is a 1.9 diesel with a full service history.

  A couple of weeks ago we had the brake pads and discs changed on a 1996 Renault Clio, my partner has driven it fior the past 2-3 weeks when i got in today and there was a tremendous squeeking every time i put my foot on the brake. It seems as if these have not been bed in, has anyone any tips?

  is it me or is the VW Passat W8 heading the same way as the Renault Avantime i.e. knacker's yard? I note that in the Telegraph motoring pages a used example was being offered for around £30K; now one VW dealer is offering used low-mileage ones for £21K. Seeme to me that the W8 Passat is not a good seller, and a mistake by VW.
